Nice idea, great graphics and amazing intro. There are some minor issues: audio is not synchronized with subtitles at the beginning, and also water doesn't have "water physics".

The intro blew me away! Great voice acting! I also liked the mechanics of the main game, would really like to see what that project could become beyond a mere jam game.
Thank you so much @causacreations ! I too am really pleased with the main game's mechanics. Perhaps we will revisit it.
@nikolay-zapolnov - yeah, it would have been nice to have swimming for the player. Wasn't time for it unfortunately.
Your intro is so beautiful and a dubbing is perfect! I also really like mechanics of this plant-rope! It looks so cool! Congrats! :D
Thank you so much @kirke !
Great voice acting. I went through the whole game without killing any animals, i hoped i would get a different end for it but i suppose that's a bit much to expect from a jam game. The lack of a walk animation is probably my biggest complaint. The grappling vine mechanic felt very good.
God, I chuckled with the ending. Perfect way to finish Gregorio.
I liked the grapple hook mechanic quite a lot, although I'd liked it better if the platforms weren't so far apart or if the camera was farther as I couldn't judge some jumps very accurately. Some vertical drops are completely fine (like when you encounter the first crocodile) but some others kill you (I guess you fell to an abyss?). Some visual feedback would help so the player knows which ones are fine. Also, the camera should accompany the player in the last bit before finding the treehouse, as it's looking to the right but we're walking to the left.
Other than that, pretty funny game and damn... that dubbing! Specially Gregorio!
Thanks very much for the detailed feedback, @pablodap. I will pass your compliments on to Gregorio's actor :)
The entry is very good, I didn't make it to the end though (simply, I'm quite bad at playing platformers and generally I don't really like them). In which I'd like to say that I really enjoyed the game.
Thanks for the entry. The intro was awesome, and as putting a plot together in Ludum Dare is accomplishment by itself - I can just say - Keep up the good work!
It looks like others have touched on a lot of gameplay stuff so I will leave that. I couldn't quite figure out the mood of the game and some of the lines of dialogue seemed out of touch with the rest. For example most of the intro seems very Saturday morning cartoon (which I dig completely) but Piper refers to Gregorio as a bastard which for the very short time we've known her already seems out of character. I loved this project and will likely come back to this after I've reviewed a couple more games. Thank you very much for sharing your work!
Thanks for the feedback, @babyking. The opening cutscene was written in 20 very rushed, very sleep deprived minutes. If we come back to the game post-jam, both cutscenes will be rewritten completely.
This got incredibly laggy after I shot a few of the vines. The platforming is unfortunately quite janky so I couldn't really complete, but I had lots of fun with the physics system here. Needs some animation of the walk/run to make it feel a little more complete. Nice intro scene and voiceovers, and great audio work!
Very funny beginning, and nice gameplay! I like the powers you have, and how you can get pretty creative with them. Nice job!
*Grappling hooks are never a bad idea!*
They go especially well with a big world to explore full of tricky jumps, and you provided both. Having the ability to grapple pretty much anything is a funky idea too. Using it to grab and pull items from a distance might be an interesting addition for potential future versions.
The enemies are not too difficult to pass without killing any of them (*boo hoo* for not having an extra line in the ending for that), and they do slide around at times taken all the physics shenanigans at play. Not a big issue.
Audio is superb all around, solid sound effects and the music is just perfect! When it comes to the visuals it is obvious where the graphics artist ran out of time. I don't mind the odd placeholder menus, but the lack of a walk animation is a crying shame! The cutscenes are great both ways, and funny too!
My biggest issue here is how you only tackled the theme in the story and not in the actual interactivity. A Pitfallesque platforming adventure could accompany about any theme this way, *disappointing!* Sacrifice is about giving something valuable away for a risky chance at gaining something greater. How about having to recharge the grappling hook device by killing *(and skinning!)* animals? A careful and skilful player can still get through the level with minimal or no killing, while mistakes have to be made up for by saying bye-bye to Mr. Froggy.
So... Pretty great in places, the opposite in other places; strongly on the positive side though. *Who gives about the theme anyways!*

really fun grappling hook mechanics. Some of the sniper frog placement seemed cheap, especially when swinging from vine to vine, but otherwise was fun to play. The lack of animation on the player character was pretty awkward but the other visuals were great
This really feels like a saturday morning cartoon! I love it!
Very fun gameplay! I felt like Spider-Man swinging across, lol. The visuals are very nice in this game, although not very animated (understandably, since you only had three days). The cutscenes were awesome, and so was the voice acting! The music was quite vibrant; all around, the audio was fantastic. The theme felt just a little forced at times, and I feel like it wasn't implemented in the most effective way-- but that's alright, because everything else totally made up for it! This game had a nice, happy ending that made me smile, which doesn't seem like a common thing in this Ludum Dare. Overall, this is a pretty awesome entry! :)
Well done! You implemented an intro with real voices acting (wow!). graphics are polished and interesting, gameplay and level design are great. Really I'm impressed and it's one of the best entry I have played for this Ludum dare. Keep going...And work communication because it's very important in a gamejam.
