The zip file has been updated to add the missed dll.
Hey, just reminding you that you have to rate other people games to get your game rated as well!
It could be better if there was also keyboard controls
The game was quite fun and engaging!
Was not very interesting I'm afraid. It has some potential, but its a rather strait-forward "You work as a Valet" game with no twists or surprises, that with also the complete lack of any sound effects or other feedback effects just does not make it very interesting or fun to play.
Also, as at-least the first "day" (was all I played) does not manage to show the theme at all, as you have way to much parking space compared to cars that arrive, the parking space itself is also just a large box, making it not very challenging to just park the cars in a good spot.
Needs more work! Its a game, think what you could do more, like odd cars, cars that cant steer left/right, alien spaceships etc. anything is possible!
Does it require a controller to work, or are there keyboard controls as well? @ me with a response, since the game looks really nice.
wish i could play using a keyboard :(
@crawlingrevo, @baconsenpaii I update the executable to add keyboard controls. @hauo Thanks for your comment. I would have liked to add more different cars (limousine, bus...) and parking areas for more fun but 72 hours is really short. Take this like a proto and not a final game. First level is simple because it's like a tutorial. @all players, thanks for playing!
I think sound and having the cars come in faster would have definitely improved this game. Its still a good take on the theme.
Reminds me of my very first attempt to drive a car lmao
Now seriously - I'm actually like this game. It suits the theme - maybe not so literally like some other games here, but still hits it really good. I liked the fact that different cars is moving differently - it's quite realistic and challenging. Good result for solo work I think (you did it i solo, if I get it right).
Some suggestions for future improvings: - the game looks quite dead now. Some simple animations and more details will do their trick. As reference, I suggest Project Highrise - it has flat-ish simple style which reminds me yours a little. - this game could be mixed up with some kind of other genre or even a story, like they do it in the Beat Cop. It's a game with simple core gameplay - at first you just punish guys who ran out of their parking time, but in the end of the plot the story turns into an absolute madness. Or like in the Pyre - come on, it's a soccer but with plot, but it really pleasant to play because of it. - or just add the ability to play with the second player. Maybe even don't expand the parking area. Just imagine how crazy it could be with the other car crashing into everything and stealing your parking spot. I think it will definitely bring some fun time for any party! And the controls is not so big deal - the ones in fighting games suits your game too (arrows for player one, WASD for player two).
Cheer up and keep making games, as I said, I think it's a good result.:)
Hey parking brethren! I can see the similarities with my game. I liked how the car controls felt and how some handle differently. It seems you designed with controller in mind which is why you have the cursor. On PC, its kinda of annoying to use. There need to more pressure I think or some other mechanic to really stand out. Good job!
@romanchesco I'm glad you enjoyed to play. Thanks. You're ideas for improvement are interesting. I didn't think about multiplayer but it could be fun and challenging. Design of Project Highrise is really cool. Car Graphics are only placeholder for now. I had not enough time to draw them myself. If I find the time for, I would like to take few hours to add some features and polish.
@carlos-giraldo Thanks. If I had to do the job again now, I would think of keyboard control before controller. It's kind of feature I would like to add.
@n00b I didn't had enough time to add sound fx and music. It was planned to increase the timer of the cars over the levels.
I thought it was a good interpretation of the theme - I really did run out of space and had to double park the cars. I was very bad at reversing, so I ended up with a negative balance because of all the scrapes. The game has all of its core mechanics, so the improvements I'd suggest are adding to the mood with more character-filled graphics and GFX for crashes.
Awesome game. I was pleasantly suprised with the overall mood of the game. Hope you develop a post jam version for this!
Controlling the cars actually felt really nice! I like how every car color has its own control parameters and tip values. Also, screw those pink cars that are so hard to control and give the lowest tips!!
One problem I think you'll have is that the game really only becomes challenging and shows the theme in the second day. I almost stopped playing after the first day, because I assumed the second day would be identical, but I'm glad I continued because the second day was much more fun.
Really nice game! I like this type of driving and you make it fits the theme well. Great work, only miss some clear goals and maybe a better keyboard support, but still great job!
I don't have a controller so it was hard to even select a car to drive, controls on the itch.io page are wrong left mouse click is accelerate, also the cursor to select cars can go offscreen and is really sensitive.
Concept is nice, wish I had a controller to play comfortably.
Parking was the first thing that came in my mind after the theme announcement. Thought it would not be so much fun but you made a great game dude. Keep it up. Try mine
I feel like the controls A/Y were not the best choice, we have triggers with more control for a reason! (even if you didn't want to scale it still it feels nicer to hold the trigger than a button and I just one finger to do two controls when I had plenty free. I think this fits the theme well but for a parking game didn't really offer anything new or interesting. The slow cars were just bad :/ IMO they should all be the speed of the fastest one, and making the steering with barely any lock just wasn't fun. Had some UI scaling issues on the menu and with the "day is over" screen, but apart from that it was still an alright game good job.
P.S I didn't hear any audio doe you have any? Because if not you can opt out of that category
