I'm in, only my second jam, but both within 2 weeks!
Using Unity 3D, Paint.net and whatever audio tools I can learn over the weekend.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD41 → Escape The Future!

It's done, please rate, thanks.
Interesting concept! Kind of had an old school feel about it. Great job on finishing your second jam!
The game is not bad for a game jam. Good job.
That's what I call a good game design! Well done! Great and fun game!
I've seen people mix genres and game genres, but I think yours is the first I've seen so far to mix both! Super good, congratulations.
Nice concept, pretty challenging but got to grips with it before too long. Good work! If you get chance give our jam Mechasnek a go :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/mechasnek
Could'nt get it to load ..
Liked your take on the theme. Great fun to play. However, i fealt the turrets at times were a bit unforgiving.
@gonz0 it sometimes takes a while to load unfortunately and maybe it's freaking out a little. Can you try the windows version from the link on my Ludum Dare page?
@mza The game can be a little unforgiving at times, remember you can use your shield to help or try to get turrets to take each other out.
Got it there , nice work , fairly compelling. those turrets are evil! not sure why it should take so long to load though, there's nothing crazy going on?
Love the double interpretation of the theme. It was just difficult enough to be fun
It might be the map generation to create the level, not sure, will look into it and see if I can find the problem.
ah yes tile map gen can take a bit ..
Game has much more depth than I originally thought. I had a little problem with keeping the knight facing in diagonal directions to reflect attacks and often would just use either the X or Y axis. I collected the 4 runes but had a very difficult time finding my way back to start. On one run, I had to use the turrets to make a route for me to get a rune and loved it - but I feel this was probably just from a fluke of the map being procedurally generated. But because the turrets can destroy blocks, it was hard for me to conceptualize the layout and get back to the beginning. I think this could be solved by different parts of the map having different colored tiles. Lastly, in my last playthrough, I realized that it was much easier to just run past the turrets than methodologically reflect the bullets. In conclusion, great concept, great execution, definitely room for improvement.
@gonz0 I've fixed the map lag, have a look a the latest version.
@legavroche I was playing around with colouring the tiles differently but unfortunately I had more pressing problems with the map generation itself amongst other things, so I left it out. Maybe in the next version!
Pretty fun game! I enjoyed the challenge of trying to navigate the environment and find all of the pieces. Some of the set up was pretty wicked though. Maybe have some of the turrets be further apart.
Not too engaging, but good controls. Kinda action puzzler of how to avoid the cannons and let them kill each other. Could have been another settings just as easily, like cyberpunk.
I enjoyed dodging cannonballs and turning towers against each other, but I found it really hard to block properly. In the end I opted to just run and try to dodge, never really using the shield. Still though, this was an interesting mashup. Nice work!
after trying like an hour i beat the game in 81 seconds
something about the block isnt working as well as i thought. so i cant hold wasd and space and waltz through the game?
@morrilet @Tikikala Yeah, I think there may be a bug with the shield mechanic, I'll look into it.
I ALMOST ESCAPED THE FUTURE!!!
Fun little action game! I noticed some inconsistencies in the shield, there were multiple hits through my shield where I took damage. Aside from that no bugs that I was able to identify. I liked your hook for the music changing as you started the game. Well done on your submission!
Amazing game! It's interesting to find the correct direction to and counterattack the enemies. Simple to understand but really nice experience. The only compliant I have may be it's a little bit difficult to distinguish the character's direction and whether he is holding the shield, maybe it's because the moving and turing speed is fast.
Good idea and job, look my game, please: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/food-truck-race
The game is well scoped and easy to understand. I like a lot of little things about it like how the enemy turrets can shoot each other and how the terrain gets destroyed by the bullets. There are a lot of things that can be tuned to make the game a bit more challenging as I was able to beat the game without using the sheild at all. Overall, I would say it is a good first start and a base concept that you can work on to make into a full game. Also, please check out and rate my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/infinite-checkers
Once I got my head around the shield mechanic it was really well implemented. Good entry well done.
Cool concept. Music atmosphere is nice. The shield mechanic works pretty well. Perhaps you can improve it with some visual feedbacks (for example a little halo to know where the player is protected with the shield). Also it could be interesting to have some enemies who hit you when you have your shield in position. Anyway, great job for your second jam. Hope to see more. :)
Sweet game of skill and luck! Nice ambient feel. It was fun trying to get the turrets to destroy the blocks so you could pass thru. A bit difficult to see when the shield was up/down. Some more nice progression/levels and fine tuning this would be a really entertaining game! (well, even more I mean :-) )
Solid game, finished it twice, first time with 76 seconds and 7 Health, and the second time with 144 seconds and 2 Health. It's interesting, and I feel that it could turn into something very cool given some more polish in the right direction, such as more levels, and more variety in graphics/sound. On that note, the sound FX from bfxr could use some work, they hurt my ears, and were maybe a tad too bitcrushed, however for what this game tries and successfully achieves, they work! ;) Great Job!
Good game man and the art style is also very innovative .....also do check our game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/boomball
Great! Just voted it! May you try and vote my game?(RTS+FPS) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/rts-shooting
