I can't play the game. When I click the link it says that the page couldn't be found

besmundu 2018-04-24 09:49

Gaah, it was published as a Draft! Fixed it now

jani-nykanen 2018-04-24 12:10

Some bugs/issues: - The help screen text does not fit the window - When playing with Opera, right mouse clicks will sometimes send you back to the previous page (or right+left clicks, I'm entirely sure). On itch.io I could restore the game and continue where I left, but once it took me to the starting page and I lost my progress. - The full screen mode button does not work

EDIT: Oops, sorry, the full screen mode was just laggy and took time to active. My fault!

EDIT: Now I got it working. It's pretty good.

besmundu 2018-04-24 12:18

@Jani Nykanen Aha, that sucks! I'm not sure why that's happening. But I had problems uploading the game from the start, getting the UI to fit and all. Maybe it's related to that.

aruculadomal 2018-04-30 14:49

Pretty cool! I was going to complain about the UI scaling but you already know about that haha. I really liked the idea, I loved how you need to think strategically and use your reflexes at the same time. Nice work!

arturasd 2018-04-30 16:01

The game is way too complex at the start. You have very little money and its very hard to have a head start. You pretty much die at the start of the game unless you hit every bullet you can. It feels like the execution is little off here, I believe that some concepts could have been executed better. Yet again, it's only my opinion. The idea itself is very nice. Good job on that.

campbell 2018-04-30 16:07

The screen resolution kept me from being able to play the game, since I couldn't reach the UI. So unfortunately I can't really give you a rating. All I could do was shoot missiles until I got a game over.

tero-laxstrom 2018-04-30 17:51

Well done, very good music and way too hard for my nonparallel brains. Good job.

besmundu 2018-05-01 09:19

@ARuculaDoMal Haha, yes, I never worked with UI in Unity before, and managed to screw it up a lot.

@ArturasD I didn't have time to properly playtest and balance, so I absolutely see what you mean. I think some tweaking to the amount of money you earn would have helped a lot

@Campbell Oh, I'm sorry for that. Did you press the full screen button, and still you didn't see the UI? This happened for me on my surface pro, which has a resolution higher than 1080p.

@Tero Laxström Thanks, and glad you liked the music!

mic-matrix91 2018-05-09 20:03

Very funny game, I survived 16 months! It's a polished work, the mechanics are really good, well calibrated! Also the music is very nice. After some months it becomes very hard and you must move fast to survive, very challenging!

Update: I was surprised to find this game in the danger zone, it's such a pity because this is a very good game!! You should rate more games in my opinion to have more visibility!

ian1337 2018-05-11 12:35

A bit confusing at first, but a fun little title :)

Hitboxes for the meteors seem a bit too small.

Good effort, would like to see more of it :)

Take a look at mine, let me know what you think :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/sam

besmundu 2018-05-11 12:35

@mic_matrix91 Thank you for the feedback! :D Glad you liked it.

Yes, I know. I've unfortunately not had the time to rate as man y games as I've wanted to. Hopefully I can get a few more votes though

besmundu 2018-05-11 12:40

@ian1337 Thanks! The hitboxes should be the same size as the meteor sprite, but I can look into that.

I'll try to play your game when I have the time :)

goffmog 2018-05-11 12:45

Great take on a classic game, the music is lovely and creates just the right mood. I hope you get enough ratings, I'm struggling with that myself right now.

joror 2018-05-11 13:06

Nice combo! I like the slow ramp up, allowing for people to get into the mechanics through play. Becomes quite hectic at the end, eventually destroying the town, but that is great too! The explosion timing is a nice core mechanic.

Potential improvements: - Powerups/drops from the sky - More chain explosions - Reward chain explosions with $$ - Some in-field fading numbers when you click on buildings - I got no time to look to the top stats :D - Auto shooting defense upgrades that only kill X bullets, or only the slow ones

joror 2018-05-11 13:07

You should also put your unity game page as a link in the 'downloads' section - that will make people (and UIs like itch.io) find your game better.

rockhoppergames 2018-05-11 13:12

Absolutely nailed the mood with the music, it's peaceful enough to suit the city builder element, and understated enough to suit the introspection of a missile defense game. Excellent work there!

derlassehenrich 2018-05-11 13:20

I love this game, it's really great. Nice job!

shrinjoy-fox 2018-05-11 13:25

Good.game man loved it also dont forget to rate our game :v

digitaldude555 2018-05-11 13:27

Love the music, one of the best takes on the theme I've seen so far. Graphics are alright i've never seen this type of game have anything but minimalistic graphics. The problems are simple balance issues like repairing silos cost a lot should probably cost 50 same as building, massive snowball effect if things start to fail then you have already lost. As for suggestions I suggest adding upgrades like auto-collection on the buildings and maybe shields for the buildings. Good luck on getting to 20 votes.

tigerj 2018-05-11 13:53

I played a lot of missile command growing up. This was a refreshing take on the system. If you decide to continue this game forward I think you should consider mobile as this would be a hit for casual small breaks and it is a lot of fun. Consider a timer ui display for each building when it's about to be ready for collection. Do you know how to solve your UI issues? if not reply and I can help you out with your canvas and camera settings.

Nice game!

0nironauta 2018-05-11 14:03

Even if a coudn't play propperly bacause the UI, I have to congratulate you if this is you first jam. Art is very neat and pace is very proper. Let me know if you solve the UI issue so I'll come back!

besmundu 2018-05-11 15:19

Woooow, thanks to everyone who voted and commented since my last comment here! I now have over 20 votes! Thank you sooo much :)

@goffmog Glad you liked the music! I'll try out your game when I can and help you out!

@Joror Great feedback, I like all of your suggestions!

@RockhopperGames Ah, great to hear, so happy you liked the music!

@DerLasseHenrich Thank you :)

@shrinjoy_fox Thanks, I'll try it out when I can!

@digitaldude555 Great that you like the music! Yes, balancing at the moment isn't the best, and the snowball effect is very real. If I continue on with this game I'll surely balance it out a lot better. And yeah, repairing silos should probably be cheaper. My reasoning was that they are so important that I wanted to punish you for letting them get destroyed.

@tigerj Thank you! Yeah, mobile could be a very good platform for a game like this. A ui timer is of course a great addition, I like that idea. I think I know why the UI is screwed up, but I haven't had the time to go into this project again and work on it. Maybe in the future :)

@0nironauta Ah, sucks that you couldn't play it, I apologise for that. But glad you liked what you could play! I'll let you know if I fix the issues :)

corbak 2018-05-11 15:48

It is a nice little game. I had a pleasant time playing it, feels nice. I don't know if its normal that some cannons shoot faster than others? Also it would have been better maybe to put the left click on shooting, but its my opinion :) Good work !

floc 2018-05-11 17:49

At first I was lost, because I didn't figure out that was the right click for shooting. But then that was pleasant to play with a wonderful music!

besmundu 2018-05-11 18:03

@Corbak Thanks! Yes, the middle missile silo shots faster than the other two. It's like that in the original missile command game, so I kept it. :) I had shoot on right click since I didn't want you to accidentally shoot a missile when trying to collect resources, thus wasting missiles.

@Floc That seems to be common thing, left click to do the main action is probably a standard I should have kept to. Glad that you liked it, and happy that the music was good!
