Good use of the theme. A really unique entry. I loved the feel of it, very somber. Great job!

Good use of the theme. A really unique entry. I loved the feel of it, very somber. Great job!
You really nailed the theme in my opinion. The mood was set really well. Nice job!
Really enjoyed the narrative of it all! Cool use of the theme and great overall mood :) Even with it being a "walking sim" I would add something in between the actions. (Like the sound of building when colonizing). Good job overall :D
Nice game. Liked how you decrease time of waiting with each another planet.
Thank you all :). I'm glad you liked it.
@drell: in fact, I wanted to add more mechanics and started to work on them (the various slots define the activities of the planet):

unfortunately, I was short in time to do it properly so I preferred to polish what I already had. But I think I will make a post-jam version with more mechanics, planet and a more developed story ;).
Better story than No Man's Sky! Fantastic mood - the music and art are lovely. The execution of the theme combination was really interesting and well done too. I really enjoyed it as a short, atmospheric, arty experience. I don't think it suffers too much from lacking mechanics.
Now... I normally don't like suggesting additions to people's games (I value the dev's artistic vision over what I or other players think "would be cool"). That being said... I thought it would've been cool if you played through the decline of your civilisation. Like, after you conquer all the planets, you have to click back through them as they are lost/destroyed/conquered, until you are back to the one you started at, at which point the game ends. I don't know if that's anything like what you had in mind for the game, but I think it would fit the story and mood you have.
nice and a unique game with very relaxing music! Mac version worked great btw ;)
Really atmospheric, the game is an awesome blend of the two genres. A lot of promise early on, you could really make this into something interesting. Keep it up!
The music, the visuals, and the theme all worked to capture the feeling longing and isolation. This works great as a little visual story. I'd love to see what a version with a little more gameplay and decision making looks like, learning about the background of the narrator as you go along. It's hard to call this fun, but I was intrigued and emotionally invested throughout.
I loved it. Very melancholy.
I don't think it's my style of game. I just don't have the patience. I do think you did a great job with the art and the music. Check ours out when you get the chance https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/infinite-typer
Thank you for you kind reviews!
@cheesey-bob: Your idea is quite interesting, I don't know if I will use it but I'll definitely keep it in mind :).
@smiley: Glad to know it works on Mac!
Amazing story and dialogue, you absolutely nailed the mood!
Like many of the other reviewers have mentioned, I think this is a great example of fulfilling the theme goal. The mood was also fitting. I am going to admit that yes, I did find the text to be a bit awkward, before I realized that it is not your native language. For this, I became more lenient of that scoring, and tried to understand as best I could the emotional impact you were trying to deliver with each colonization. I will also admit that I was about to give up with only a few planets to visit left, because I'm not immediately in the proper surroundings to play this game. It's a greeting card length game, yet I wasn't sure how long it actually was going to be. You really have to be in the right mood/mindset to play this game, as if you were going to be in Endless Space or Civilization, or Flower, or Journey for a bit, and not have it broken into a couple sessions. Anyway, well done!
The texts were not cheesy at all, at least in my opinion - on the contrary, they made me feel sad there isn't a separate narrative category for grading. :) While I'm not a fan of the "walking simulators", the narrative provided some special meaning, context, atmosphere and made me keep going. The art was also quite fitting. Well done!
Nice game, I liked the small texty bits. The music selection was great, hoped you composed them but anyway. The art looks good and while I expected a bit more mechanics than explore->conquer->colonize cycle(why are we conquering uncolonized worlds I did not understand). I played it and finished it and I hoped I uncovered some sort of story. If you write a simple story which we learn more about what happened to our melancholic guy, that would be great and I would definetly play. Well done, nice calming game!
When starting the game, I expected some stratigic space conquer type of thing. The game, in fact, appeared to be a space novel, with a given set of inevitable options, repeated by the player, who repeats the life of a space conqueror. This type of interractive narration and the mood set by the story (very nostalgic and deep) is what I deerly loved about the game. Would love to play through a bigger picture story with more details and greater time frame. Thank you for the submission!
I love space games, but I dont see any gameplay here. Graphics is ok, story is also ok, but where is an interaction with a player? I expected to see something like Eufloria, something with more interactive colonization mechanics then just clicking on button "colonize" BUT for jam its ok, we all know how hard are developing a game when you have only few days. So, good luck to you! Hope my criticism will be helpful if you will decide to continue developing this game :smile_cat:
Thank you for this experience. The music guides me really well through the story. Perhaps you could do more music or sounds when you visit a planet. As I visit this one planet with this strange scintific name I expected that something would happen at next but there was nothing. I think you could do more short side stories in your game. It dosen't hurt your main story experience. And your background of stars could maybe have more layers. So if you zoom out the distance background stars are changing. It would gives the game a much more deeper and lonely feeling in the face of the universe. And what I loved was that I feelt that I was looking for something. Maybe it's that what humans looking for when they travel to far worlds ... answers. The short lenght of story and discription text was also well. Loved it. :D
Beautiful story.
I'd like to learn more about what happened to the main character and their loved one. The graphics and narration are beautiful, congrats for your work.
You do need to include the data directory etc with the Linux download for it to work.
@zarkonnen: Sorry, I've messed up my files. It's fixed now. Thank you!
This was quite deep story within a very atmospheric game. I personally kept playing just to get the know the full story of the main character. Honestly one of the best entries I have played regarding the theme!
So much feelings ! The pace and music of the game convey them so well ! Well done.
33rd for mood! Good job man!
