Hilarious but super tough. I wouldn't mind seeing more life and a slowly increasing spawn rate. But it's super fun times when you get all 8 shotguns and the world shakes like it's Armageddon!

I ended up spamming the space key with my right hand, it helped a little.
At first I was like 'I can only shoot in 1 direction, what the hell?', but then I picked up another shotgun and I was like 'OOOooohh'. From there, I had a blast.
Very impressive for 5 hours of work. I wonder what it would look like had it been your original idea for the whole weekend. My only legitimate criticism that's reasonable for a 5 hour game is that it starts out too hard. Once you get a couple shotguns, its much more forgiving, but getting the first 3-4 shotguns can be more luck than anything.
Great work!
Cool game. Simple, but pretty enjoyable. It seems a bit lame at first but once you get a bunch of shotguns it gets fun. The graphics are decent - I like the quotes the character says and the screenshake. Usually I would say the way the shotgun sounds stack is an issue, but here it helps to add to the crazy chaos.
There are a couple of issues though. You should have more control over the direction of the shotguns. The game should also start slow and ramp up as it's currently a bit rough at the start.
Alright, this game was actually pretty addicting and had some nice game design to it. The fact that the shotgun angles were random would change my playstyle and route every run. It felt a bit like a........shotgun roguelike basically. The graphics were deceptive and I'm glad I went ahead and played anyways. You did really well for the amount of time you put in. I think you could actually take this idea a lot further, I haven't really seen a game with this kind of mechanic.
For 5 hours, it's incredible! I will give that to you. The AIs do their job, the mechanic is awesome, the level is impressive for the time you had, and the gameplay is addicting. Not to mention the awesome innovation and take on the theme you had to do to come up with this! It's really impressive. I'm going to be picky about things though, like you were for me.
The graphics are good, but they don't fit. The bricks should, at the least, have some stroke to them. They look out of place. It might make more sense for you to use a solid color there, for the walls. Not sure how that would work but when I first saw your game those popped out for the wrong reasons.
Most of the people have been talking about the difficulty, and how, when there's just one gun, it's really hard to do anything. I do agree with that. However, it's something that's hard to change. It's more of a idea issue than a straight-up gameplay issue, and it's hard to think of a way to fix it. Maybe you could press buttons that rotate your gun 45 degrees either direction. Or maybe your gun is aimed towards the mouse. It's something that needs to be tested, and it's a preference thing in the end.
I thought that the camera was really annoying, and didn't show enough to the side that you were going. The edge of the camera scroll function is too far away.
Sometimes "jerks" would spawn right next to you. This was very annoying, and it led to me losing when I was in an otherwise great position. Sometimes they would spawn in walls, too, and get stuck.
I feel like the camera jolt is just a little bit too strong, especially when you have all 8 guns. I like it, though, and how real it feels.
I really really hope that you keep developing this! It's a great idea!
Hah, this game is strange, in a good way! First of all, I like the sound and the effect of shaking the camera when you shoot, it allows to get great pleasure just by shooting, that is the basic mechanics of the game. Sprites are simple, but nice. And the effect of rain and reflection of the characters in the puddles look especially cool. It seemed to me that I had to go too close to the edge of the screen to move the camera. From such a small distance, enemies started to shoot at me and I didn't see them beyond the boundaries of the camera. Overall, you've done a great job for 5 hours!
OMG, I want to have more shotguns! SHOTGUNS ARE FANTASTIC! \o/
Very fun but really hard
The shotgun have a great feedback. Big firepower.
Good job.
This game is quite fun, but really hard. The fact that you couldn't aim made it especially hard in the beginning where you only had one gun. I don't think that it really fits the theme, since it gets easier when you have more guns, since it's possible to defend yourself against jerks coming from more than just one angle.
The camera let you get way to close to the edge of the screen in my opinion. I sometimes got shot from enemies which just appeared on screen, which is really annoying. The graphics of the people and the rain effect looked really nice, but the look of the walls didn't really fit in.
Some knock back from firing might have been nice and made things a bit more difficult, but with that there is once again the issue that if you have guns all around you, the knock back will either be canceled out or in a random direction, which would be annoying. Despite feeling that there is something that should be improved and not knowing what or how, I had a lot of fun playing your game, so good job on that!
We thought about attacking the theme this way too but never got as far as you did (actually doing it). I like the selling point of the theme during the intro of the game. :D Coding, after all, often involves using solutions that already exist so I totally get it. Nice work
A very well made game, but it is really hard. Well done.
Aaaaand 20 ratings! Congrats, I found you in the danger zone category. I enjoyed your game a lot, but it's really hard for someone who got out of shape in playing video games.
Woohoo, 20 votes reached!
Thank you, everyone, for playing and rating Shotgun City. It's great to get your feedback, especially on things like the camera, the difficulty and enemy AI/behaviour. Most of all, it's super useful to get feedback on the overall player experience, as it's very difficult to judge that as a developer; you need to be able to see your game through someone else's eyes.
