Loved the concept!

Very nice take on the theme! It almost ended up as a guessing game when the screen became all white! It's like the reverse of darkness, instead you can't see because of all the light! Innovative!

It reminds me when I go to bed at night when the house is all dark and I accidentaly hit a box on the floor or something haha :D

Oh man, where can I even start?! This is a real good game. Very very innovative in it's simplicity.

* You took the theme literally on the tin. You didn't do something special with it, you didn't do anything else. You just said "That theme, yeah. White circle. Expanding." and built around it. Okay, that might be exaggeration for me. Lightbulbs are cool. Like @mormert said, it's the reverse of darkness. Good work! Glad you didn't use something stupid.. like having too much bloom.

* The music could be a bit better. The main melody's volume should be a bit lower since that's the only thing that's consistent. That hi-hat though, a spark? You're improving the idea your character is a lightbulb that's on it's way turning into a sun that burns everyone's eyes!

* Invulnerability time. Either non-existent or could be longer. Just staying on the spikes for a second is not a good idea. At least give the people a chance and reset only when you have 0 hearts (♥<1) and not just 1 (♥==1).

* Checkpoints. I know you used states, my dear. Not the best way of going for it since it saves the health you have, too. So most of the time, I only have to go with 1 hit the rest of the way.

Otherwise, very innovative and I would recommend for people to play this either way! (I also suggest you give a screenshot and a cover for the entry. Gives people an idea what it is.)

You hit all the marks of the theme! It's a cool platformer with way better controls than most platformers I tried in this jam! Music is the only let down for me!

Nice concept. Bit rough, but fun.

chyme 2017-12-05 10:38

This was really clever! It was tough having to use a little guesswork when your light became too big, and fit the theme really well. Thank you for having generous checkpoints too. XD Great entry!!

Great idea, I liked the concept a lot! Such a shame I'm that bad at platformers game and some jumps were quite tight! Well done tho <3

zblah 2017-12-05 10:54

The opposite concept of ours ! Nice idea :)

Good game, this game does not really need lifes though. (The problem solves it self because when you resurrect at a checkpoint you only get one life. Nice game, had a really cool moment where everything was white and I stod on a moving platform and had to remember the timing of the platform to know when to jump :D Great game

Nice work! Great Idea. The visuals are to the point and the music fits nicely. I like the idea that the light is bad.

This is really nice, despite what others have said about it seeming rough, I can not agree, as a whole it's wonderful! (and jumping through the dark-... err lightness? when the light when became so large it basically enveloped your whole view in the level was clever, and it was a nice touch to end the game that way too!)

Aside from the fact that lives did not serve much of a purpose as you quickly landed on 1 health and ended up being stuck with that for the rest of the level after that point, it was absolutely addictive and the visuals all line up.

Nice work :)

Really great use of the theme. It was probably a bit too hard but that's true for almost everyone's game. Nice job.

Great concept! I think the level design was pretty good; it escalated at a reasonable rate, and there was some amount of choice of where to go and what to do, but not so much as to become too much. The graphics are simple but effective for what it is. It was a little short, but hey, you made it in 72 hours so not too shabby.

Unfortunately, not playing with headphones, so didn't rate you in audio, although I'm sure it sounds great.

sbarrio 2017-12-18 10:34

One of the most interesting uses of the theme I've seen so far. Nice job on your entry :)

Nice game. It was fun that I kept trying all the way to the end which I rarely do for a jam game. I like the minimal art style. The light is pixelated in the game (texture filter is nearest I assume) while it looks smooth in the GIF. I think the light also expands faster in the game compared to the GIF or may be it depends on other factors (or may be I am just a failure of a gamer). Overall, good game.

EDIT: I also wanted to note that whenever I hit bullets or spike I stay frozen for a few seconds till I die. This didn't happen in the start of the game though.

Not bad! Fun and challenging.
