Nice Game. :D With a bit more polish, this has the potential to be a great game. Keep it up.

vadinci 2017-08-01 09:22

Very impressive!

I love the idea of the power boots! Very nice take on the theme.

The world is pretty big and I wasn't sure where to go. I think I've seen most of it, but I can't really be sure. I'm just very impressed with what you've managed to create. The graphics are nice, the world is fun to play around in, and overall the game just felt polished.

automatonvx 2017-08-01 20:39

All looks great and feels really nice to play, the attacks are all really satisfying. It sort of feels like it needs a map or something though, I was wondering around for quite a long time and didn't find what i was looking for, after a while I had seen all the enemies, the characters i met just seemed to say the same things so it was getting a bit repetitive. So maybe I would say aim for a shorter overall experience. Still really great work though.

gumboot 2017-08-01 21:36

@smiley-4 @vadinci @automatonvx Thanks for the great feedback guys! I definitely agree, this should be condensed so that there is less wandering. Or maybe just a more compact experience would be better in general-

lun8 2017-08-02 02:20

Love the idea and the art! Gameplay was also pretty solid. Great work!

jahndis 2017-08-02 07:26

Holy smokes this art is gorgeous. I think I would have not allowed the player to recover power after attacking as it makes the fighting a bit too easy in my opinion. I never felt like I was in danger of running out of power. That being said this is a solid entry!

gumboot 2017-08-02 10:01

@jahndis ah, that is a great recommendation! I agree with you there. Will fiddle with it, thank you!

flyingmeta 2017-08-03 00:39

Great game and amazing artwork! The camera was a bit jarring, the axe swing attack is a bit difficult to handle, and there wasn't any sort of indicator when a text loop was over. Aside from those small fixes, basically 5/5 across the board. ;) Good work!

franfox 2017-08-03 08:31

Love the art and the UI! The fact you need to move or do something to keep your bar charged is an interesting approach to the theme (the majority of jammers did the opposite) and it works fine but I didn't notice until passed few minutes, probably because I can't stop slashing, running and shooting... haha. I think the difficulty is cool for a jam version but agree to @jahndis that maybe a more hardcore logic on the recovery bar would work better. Best game, congrats!

smdeveloper 2017-08-03 17:50

I like a lot the graphics. The sound effects are well done, there is a good variety of enemies. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to activate all 7 pillars

bunrun11 2017-08-04 00:50

The screen movies too much when you try to kite while fighting with your ax. Also the attack ax range is hard to tell when fighting downward. (I like melee weapons :3)

pedro-romero 2017-08-04 11:23

The game looks awesome for a game made in 3 days. Really, this game can easily be expanded into a full game. Keeping with the current game, I think that you don't "need" to use all your skills, in fact, you can simply run into the monolith without a single attack. It may be challenges specific for the skills of the character: things to cut, target to be shoot from afar or gasp to dash over.

gumboot 2017-08-04 12:06

@pedro-romero Thanks for the great ideas! ( : Yeah I think it would be interesting to have some sort of experience based system for power level and maybe attack upgrades? I could definitely see some ways utilize each individual skill more.

lerpish 2017-08-04 16:40

The game is great if i were u i would turn this into an full lenght game i would definetly pay 10 bucks for a game like this if it had content for a full sized game

Positive Feedback: Very...I mean **VERY** nice art; Very fun, solid fighting; Awesome sound effects. Constructive feedback: The camera moving to where you're looking is very nice, but maybe slow it down? It was hard to be to see everything that was going on with the camera jumping around so much. Have the text boxes disappear when done talking to someone, I kept talking to the mother wondering why she kept saying the same lines over and over before I realized that you could just walk away from her.

theflyingkeyboard 2017-08-06 19:52

Amazing game, graphics are just awesome, sound effects are nice. Really polished game, one of the best I've played so far. I would definitelly like to see this game developed in the future, with more levels items, quests and stuff, because it would definitelly be fun to play. Great Job!

antti-haavikko 2017-08-06 20:16

Very nice. Totally felt in love with the art. Would have loved to see it bigger with fullscreen option :)

Combat was pretty solid. It was pretty easy and everything just had too much health. And it also felt like all the enemies except for flies had too big hitbox. This was even more apparent when enemies were above/below you. You had to distance yourself just right not to get hit by them mid swing. Didn't find any good use for the gun and dashing at all. I only dashed when not in combat and traversing longer distances. Dashing also looked somewhat weird when doing it diagonally since you only had sprites for the four main directions. I think the gun and dash both consumed too much energy, the damage of the gun was low and it usually knocked the enemies back so that the next shot wouldn't even hit.

Final mild annoyance, I think the dialog window could be closed in the end of their speech instead of repeating the last line over and over. And then if you'd talk to them again they would start their speech from the beginning. The repeating of the final line broke the immersion and made it feel more gamey.

Super sweet entry, good job!

Great graphics and nice use of the theme. I like how Health, Stamina and Power are all linked, and you can recharge them by doing just the thing you'll need to be doing during the game: walking and moving on.

bombjack 2017-08-06 20:47

purely amazing. very fun. great art and nice sound.

le-slo 2017-08-06 21:11

This games feels like a demo of a bigger one. Tons of potential. Movement and attacks feel great (maybe the basic attack needs to look a little bigger, as it is more power full than it seems), the graphics are gorgeous (an hyper light drifter aura). The only think need some tweaking is level design because right know you can beat the game only using dash (which is enormously powerful). One of the best games I played from this Ludum Dare, you have something big in your hands.

eliana 2017-08-06 21:12

Wow, this was amazing. Great graphics, mechanics, & use of the theme; overall; it was just really, really great. One thing, though(& I don't know if this was a glitch or intentional)-- you can slash at enemies through fences & hit them while never getting hit by them(because they won't even try to hit you); like I said, I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. Oh, and the dialogue box not disappearing when you were done talking to someone. I get the feeling you didn't get a chance to fix that before the jam ended, though, and that's fine. Also, I wouldn't say the beacons are scattered "all across the land" when they're all pretty close to the village, but that's just a nitpick. ;) Seriously, this is amazing. Excellent job!

fran-segura 2017-08-07 11:31

Loved playing this little game, it's really charming and has a great art and game feel. Congrats!

Lovely graphics, nice story! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_RV8hzvGH4

yopox 2017-08-13 20:13

I loved how the camera works, overall it feels really nice ! Some music would add a lot to the experience ;)

ellian 2017-08-20 23:16

Holy shit, how did you make so much content in such a short time? It's awesome! The controls could be tighter; with the movement forward when you swing your axe, it feels a bit frustrating at times; and enemies have a lot of health. But otherwise, woah! It's so well made, so polished and so "full" of stuff! Good writing, too...

Really great entry!

gumboot 2017-08-22 19:14

oh hey! @ellian follow you on twitter and love the stuff you do for work and Ludum Dare! :D very flattered to get this feedback from you! Thank you so much!
