I really like this game.

Best entry I played so far ! The graphics are amazing and the mechanics feel very thought out. You managed to create a cool atmosphere in the game and it really fits the topic. Congrats on an successful game dude :)

I love the graphics!

ginger9 2017-07-31 12:58

I don't have the hp bar, so nothing but thirst can kill me! Haha you monster!

Wait! The thirst bar IS the hp bar!

Wait! Don't slow down!

Died

Nice game!

Great atmosphere overall, and a well polished game! Fantastic job! I really loved the tiny rocks guiding you in the world, in an otherwise empty landscape. Fits really well with your overall theme!

Really good overall, especially the graphics. But when I dragged my cursor up and down between the game window and the bookmark bar, it gave me a really big speed boost, I'm guessing this wasn't intentional.

Has a really nice feel and I love the interesting movement

flipsy 2017-08-01 00:28

Fantastic graphics especially the main sprite and the ending cave. Short and sweet. A few SFX would of gone a long way. Great job.

Played this game before the rating was available so I've come back to rate it now. Has a Journey/Hyperlight Drifter feel which I really enjoyed.

Thanks alot ya'll for all the feedback and kind words!

@ginger9 Haha, that's funny!

@bajarymi There are factors that manipulate speed. The first is the water bar. The second is one that if you move with your cursor close to the main character, you wont run as fast. This is for some extra control. So if it was one of those two you meant, it was intentional. If you meant something else, I wasn't able to recreate it. Thanks for the feedback!

@flipsy Yeah, It was next on the "want to have" list :) next time

Its cool to see games that use the character themselves to show their health. I also really liked the graphics and the combat was pretty good, despite having to run into enemies to hit them.

tacohej 2017-08-02 07:58

@drewg8 It's possible to hit enemies without having to run into them, but maybe I made it too hard to do that.

ganbaregameskyle 2017-08-03 13:58

Love the art and sound. It was too easy to run past everything without fighting them though.

felixmcfelix 2017-08-03 15:37

I liked the use of the theme, particularly tying the player's movement speed into their thirst. This *does* have the unintended side effect of making the player just want to camp around any oases they find, but I liked the thought behind it.

The overall look and feel are pretty good, although I'd advise you *not* to mix pixel sizes in future if you can help it---it just gives a more cohesive look. You have good monster variety, pretty good music, and the sprites themselves are designed well (although a little washed out :pensive:). I like this, it's a pretty sweet effort. Keep up the good work!

Simple, fun and good looking, only one thing is'nt not to good, and that is difficuly, some Easy option will be great.

studio-rtv 2017-08-04 04:29

I feel like I have weird conflicting feelings on this game because I really liked it but was also kind of disappointed too.

What I did like: * Graphics. Probably the best part of the game to me, really polished looking and builds the atmosphere well * Clever use of the theme. Very unique take on the theme, it's close enough to still make sense but removed enough to make your game really stand out. * Simplicity. I loved being able to just pick up and learn the game quickly.

What I didn't like: * No clear objective. So the game starts out with "Get Water" as my objective, which makes sense. But then I find the first oasis pretty quickly, and now in my mind I'm thinking "check! Water found!" and I'm already trying to find the next thing to move on to. That's when I see the enemies, and since the two mechanics are move and attack, it made me think that I was supposed to just kill all of the enemies. And doing that was a little repetitive and made me lose interest quickly. I didn't realize there was an end cave until I read through the comments on this page. * Audio. The music felt a little bit off? It was well made, but it didn't entirely give me a "desert" vibe... if that makes sense? I think you would have benefitted from general sound effects too.

I think I was mostly disappointed because my sense of adventure and excitement for the game died quickly because I lost track of what I was supposed to do so easily. What you did well, you did REALLY well so great job with that. Keep up the good work! :)

The mouse movement felt fluid. Great art. Moving slowly felt pretty frustrating when you know you're gonna die.

tacohej 2017-08-04 12:39

@felixmcfelix Great feedback, thank you. The idea about the oasis was that it would be a relief to find one, and work as a checkpoint. While I think it worked out ok, it wasn't very fun to backtrack without any other goal than refill.

@studio-rtv I really agree with about the objective and music. Wish I had more time for both! Great feedback, Thanks!

nyri0 2017-08-09 11:58

Really nice graphics and ambiance !

The concept is also cool but when you don't have much energy you're so slow it's impossible to go back to an oasis... So I have to go really often to an oasis, sometimes twice in the same combat. It would be great to have the ability of moving with keyboard because moving and fighting with mouse feels strange.

Overall, good game ;)
