It's something you can pick up and play.
cool game, very on theme. I only played until level 5, more variation in gameplay would have bee nice. great work overall. thanks.
Wow. Very nice. Solid compo entry for 48 hours! You got music, sound, lighting effects, and nice graphics all done! I really like the design of the robot too. Great work.
As Simon mentioned, the robot design and the lighting effects are particularly well done. I appreciated being able to sort of home in on the targets by watching for hints of each bulb's color. It could use a little more challenge; the power drains really slowly and if you can avoid the mines (which is pretty easy since they're arranged in grids) then you're not at much risk of running out. Nice work!
Really nice aesthetics on this game. I found the camera a bit annoying as well since it made it difficult to see anything other than the one direction. The mines also didn't seem to present much of a threat because they were regularly spaced. You might consider making the mine patterns more hap-hazard
The game was rather challenging, but it gets a bit repetitive after completing a few levels.
Fab little game, nearly got the third light and hit a mine lol. enjoyed playing it, and nailed the theme :)
For being called a *Slowbot*, the Slowbot sure is quite zippy at full power. **A few mines will change that!**
Dodging mines is fun for a short while. Played 10 odd levels, but it was already stale at number 5. You see it is a maze, which you run though in the dark, with a 1 meter view range, over and over again. Yeah...
Not sure how to make it more exciting without changing the concept altogether. There was another similar entry where you had to conserve energy by turning off your radar and lights whenever possible, that could work. Another idea is environmental hazards, but taken how dark it is those might just turn out to be very annoying indeed. Eh, I tried.
Ok job. The intro is neat-o, nearly forgot to say that.
If you are going to develop this further, you could have a minimap that fills when you discover an area. That would help with orientation.
I'm not sure what to say. There wasn't anything specifically bad about the game. There wasn't anything good about it either. Slowbot was the most nothing game I've played this whole Ludum Dare. Don't quit your day job, old man.
Neat game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqYPjUYhuXo
I really liked the game, because you have to dodge mines - something slowbot doesn't sound like it could do fast, but he can - and the intro is good. All in all it is a good game, keep it up!
Solid game! Defiantly top 5 LD game so far! The controls were a little too responsive, tank controls would've been good. But that's just me being nit picky!
Very nice! I loved the music and robotic instructions. Graphics were great and the level design was very well made... just enough power to complete a level some times!
Nice and well executed, good use of the theme too! I really did like the graphics and the sounds, the robotic voice was spot-on, and the overall mechanic of scavenging for power while searching for lights was pretty good.
Though, I felt some of the levels quite unbalanced. Was the 9th level that short on purpose? I'd prefer to have some kind of feeling of progression too. :P
But overall, I did have fun playing it! :)
Amazing sound and music. Very good use of light effects and texturing, models were pretty good too. It fits the theme pretty well, but there wasn't much in direction. Definitely a "where the quck do I go?" type of game. At first I thought the mines were pickups so I only made it to level 2. After that I got to 13 pretty easily.
