Interesting little game! I like the idea that you have to kill as many enemies as possible to get a higher score than you can spend! Good choice on making the player respawn on a timer instead of an outright game over. The platforming's a little wonky, though; with how floaty the character is, it's pretty friggin' difficult to land on their heads. Not sure if that's a design choice, but it made every level a close shave! Good entry!

Good game!
Game mechanics is easy and fun and sound effects fit perfectly.
Is there any way earn some more time? It would be cool
Gameplay is easy to learn but, unfortunately as player learns it becomes not that exciting as in first time. Any additional features could help here.
Good job, especially for the first entry
Yay! Squares! (My game is about the adventures of squares too).
Nice entry. It took me a sec to figure out the real goal was not to just make it to the light switch, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. Great first entry!
Congrats on finishing your first LD! You did well! One suggestion I would have is to implement a variable jump, that would make it easier to jump on enemies and the controls would feel a bit better I think. Also like @kpded said the gameplay does get boring pretty fast unfortunately and power-ups or different obstacles would help there. Good work!

It's a nice demo, I found it pretty hard to actually kill the blue squares, but I liked the mechanic of the game. Good interpretation of the theme!
oh hey fellow construct user!
Had a lot of fun with this! I got into the groove of killing blue squares by jumping on each one consecutively without touching the floor, it was pretty fun!
One thing I'd like implemented is a dedicated jump key, like Z or something. It's easily done with events like so: "when Z pressed" -> player.platform.simulate jump
Congrats on your first LD!
Cool idea. Which improved graphics will be a lot of better! The light dimming idea is pretty cool: I like it. Sound FX are also cool. Keep it working!
Fun idea of gameplay, but needs some polishing. I do not know if I miss something, but after death I had to refresh itch.io page, to play game another time, some kind of restart key or button would be nice. Concept is simple, but very fun to play. Good Job!

@theflyingkeyboard Upon death you should automatically respawn after 3 seconds. Maybe, I should have made that more clear.

Although I liked the use of the light dimming, it didn't really change much as I could still see myself and the enemies. I like the simplistic style, but it would've been nice to seen a bit more with it, perhaps some particle effects when you die or kill an enemy etc.
The sound FX fit nicely but can be a bit grating on the ears after a while. I found myself getting most points by accident when falling on enemies, perhaps if you could control how high you jump by holding the button down longer it could add a bit more skill into it (and would help avoiding enemies).
Congratulations for completing your first LD! :grinning:, see you next event!

I think the concept is cool but it needs some work. The collisions where a bit weird sometimes, i've jumped on blue boxes and died when i'm pretty sure i hit them correctly. Also you can punch the blinking block even when you are at 0 energy xD. As others have said it's a bit repetitive, different enemy behaviours, powerups, moving platforms etc. could've been interesting.

@jaimuepe The collisions definitely need some fixing! I let the player turn on the lights even if they had zero points because I thought it might be a bit unforgiving if you died without any points. However, from the feedback I've been given the game is so easy and simple it wouldn't be an issue.

The simplistic presentation is both charming and helps to emphasize just how well both the character and enemies move -- I find that the player controls pretty well aside from their extremely "floaty" jump arc.
The "light's out!" mechanic is pretty solid -- though it would definitely be a huge improvement to the game's overall feel and re-playability if there was some heavier payment for turning the lights back on rather than an arbitrary point loss.
Overall, v. cute game.
I thought the simple mechanic of jumping on enemies was rather fun, although, the control of the character doesn't feel great. Only other complaint is that the sound effects were really grating. Nice job as a solo first-time submission, definitely.
I Recently played your game during a live stream at your request. You can find the video [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEKsM8vugRs) .
First entry to Ludum Dare, Congrats!!! I liked the whole idea of getting points to turn on the lights again. I did something similar but with zombie guts. My only suggestion would be to work on the feel of the jump a bit. It seemed like it maybe needed a bit more gravity? Great Submission hope to see your next one!
if you haven't already please give my game a try [Zombie Power Station](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/zombie-power-station) HTML5 Thanks
Hey, I wanted to try out your game because you tried mine too but it seems the link isn't working anymore and the game is just not on your itch.io page anymore... What happened?

(@siegfriedcroes Whoops! It should be there now!
As this is your first LD entry, I can't be too harsh. I will say that not everyone is an artist so the programmer art is understandable to a degree. The sounds were alright, although some music would have helped tremendously. Despite the fact that the gameplay does have potential, it's currently plagued by a variety of issues you can work on. Firstly, the slow acceleration makes your jumps unnecessarily tricky to land at times and the collision detection bugs out occasionally as well. Not only were the enemies way too many, but they also moved very quickly which made the best strategy to just sit in one spot and jump. As you'd imagine this isn't very fun to do, so more incentive to move around would be nice. I suppose that's what the light out mechanic is for as well as the points but making both of them have a stronger impact would help. Overall, I apologize if I ended up sounded overly critical. This is a solid foundation for your first time, I'd just love to see improvement in your future LD work.
