Hey! Just tried to download, all it comes with is the Exe though, wont run without the Data folder with it :D

Came back to check on this and I'm glad you uploaded the rest. This is a cute little game. Simple, but well done. Great job. I noticed that you can spam the attack button, even though the animation is still playing, So it is relatively easy to kill them when they are in reach.

Not sure if it is finished after level 11, but nothing happened afterwards. But some trees were still left.

Anyway, fun little game, thanks for sharing :) (even though the combination of music and going round made me a little dizzy)

Nice little game with cute graphics. Good job for your first entry :) I think after I reached Level 17 there were no new UFOs. I'm not sure if this was the actual end but at least I was safe and managed to secure 4 trees

@fatpenguin @diknows I'm sorry, the game didn't end. It's a bug (It shouldn't end until you lose)

****What I Liked:****

* I liked the graphics! * The shovel swinging animation was nice! * The SFX were good. * The tree-defending system was really cool!

****Minor Nitpicks:****

* The others mentioned the game randomly stopping, but I guess I got even less lucky than them. Mine stopped at level 5...

****Great job and thanks!****

Great first LD! its simple but everything worked well together. The pixel art was awesome ... the sound wasn't very distracting or annoying and it just complemented the game in a good way. Controls were simple and the game was fun to play. At first I thought that only having one tree was good and you could defend that tree forever ... but as lumberjacks come for you in both directions you realize you are screwed :P Managed to getg to level 11 on my first try and with a score of more than 30 000. Good job!

I reached level 32 and it was good. My suggestion is balancing difficulty a bit. It starts to get interesting after level 25 when there are so many enemies that another ufos start spawn before you killem all. I think the difficulty should progress faster. And btw. why do we need jump for :)?

chispalbc 2017-05-14 00:18

@kubad well there was going to be a lot more of options, enemies, and some atacks but the time was a problem

I got to level 19 with a score 29800. At the end I stood near the trees and tried to guard them like the 300. I felt like my shovel could be a little more effective maybe a faster swing and the hero could be a little faster. As a concession you could make the hero die when he gets touched by the aliens. Good show!

drkr 2017-05-14 05:28

I like the Mario galaxy style word, but attacking felt really inconsistent. Audio and and graphics are pretty well done (funny looking aliens tho :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:), congrats.

Nice game! It was quite fun but got a bit repetitive. I managed to get to level 36.

kyrv19 2017-05-14 10:48

Hmm maybe needs something more

I like the idea of extraterrestrial woodcutters. I miss a little more difficulty, like they do damage to the character for example. I dont know for what I can jump.

I like the theme of deforestation here, and quite a nice game overall! Some more polish I think it could be even better too!

fueelin 2017-05-15 06:31

That got pretty violent pretty quickly :) I couldn't help but interpret the shovel as also being an axe, because of the chopping motion and amount of blood... Kind of an odd criticism, I know... I liked the look and feel, nice work!

Funny concept - Alien lumberjacks lol. Fun little score attack game. - Controls are simple and easy to pick up on - Hit box for when attacking enemies seems rather large at times, can hit them from 3 people away but also not a bad thing considering how quickly things will escalate. - Slight layering bug where your character is overlapped by the enemies arms and you can be sandwhiched between them (just something I noticed) - Some way to end the alien lumberjack invasion after game over would be good. Technically I could probably leave it run till it crashes lol since they continue to spawn and can also continue to rack up the score. - A way to regrow trees to allow for extended gameplay might be good too.

Enjoyed playing it!

Those lumberjacks make me think of Canada for some reason :P. And their eyes on the outside of their face make me think of a snout from a distance - like they're animals or something.

Overall, I think this was pretty well put together. You have a playable condition, some nice looking art, good sound effects and a music track to boot. The musical loop is catchy, albeit it does start to get a bit annoying after several repetitions.

As I was playing, I noticed I could actually hit lumberjacks that were quite far away from the character if I rapidly pressed the E key. It got to the point, in one level, where they looked as though they were randomly dying, but I guess the game was still inputting my attack even after I let go of the key.

- I would have preferred to have the attack key mapped to something opposite WASD, like K or M, etc. This would give more control with the attacks rather than having to sacrifice jumping. I found myself using my right hand to press the E key at times. - There was also a bit of a bug where lumberjacks could get stuck on the top of a tree, and they wouldn't move until that tree got cut down. I enjoyed the humour and it was a sweet little game.
