Hi, nice game and congratulations ! and also the story is true. in the past also in the Colosseo there was battle ship :) Simple mechanics that still offered a decent amount of challenge.We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.
the game idea is excelent!! but phisics are not helping, sending your soldiers is useless because they have no push or force, its better just to stay out until they launch all their soldiers xD
@kingpirux
Yeah, I know what you mean, I have since rebalanced the game, but will leave the Jam version up for a while.
I like this the graphics are sweet. The solders kinda just hop around though. Also the ships. They just seem to collide?

Sending soldiers doesn't seem to be that useful - and they often end up balancing on their heads. The camera was a little awkward too, I wanted to place it somewhere in between the steps.
A cool idea, and nice art.
@pogo
Yeah, the standing on their heads thing was my, not so clear, way of showing that they were dead. We didn't have time to rig or animate any of them.

This game has promising mechanics and after some polishing it can be really fun to play pvp/ai arena game. And visuals are nice and clear. At the moment:
* Hard to control your ship
* Lack of UI and stats of the ship and crew
Anyway, good job!

The concept is cool, like the graphics. But I didn't success playing it because of the phisics.
Anyway congratulations.
I sank two ships before I ran out of soldiers! The physics are funky but the game definitely needs some tuning - the ships moved quite slowly, and I couldn't discern any viable strategy other than luck.
Very beautiful assets! This is probably the most good-looking 3d game I've seen so far.
Great job!
As the other already noted the balancing issues, I'll just add by mentioning the meshes sometimes flipping on their heads, and that I at least couldn't move the ship at all (wasd didn't seem to do anything)
Great game!

Hahaha, this is exactly how I imagine ancient naval combats! The physics are indeed funky, but it's nevertheless quite a fun game. :)

the idea is original and I really liked the graphics
however I had difficulties moving the soldiers, they didn's respond at all to the controls...the zoom was also a bit wacky
and for the sake of azerty users please don't forget implement arrows keys ;)
@axoona
The zoom was completely wacky, it was just an fov reduction, given more time I'd have loved to implement something proper.
I hadn't considered azerty users, and I didn't even think to make the keys re-bindable, I'll definitely think to do so I the future. Thanks

It would be nice to add the zoom control in the description. I was totally clueless of what was happening at first. Even if I haven't figured out yet how to kill other soldiers (trying to always ends in my soldier dying), I really like the concept. This could be a simple but very fun party game for small LAN ;)
This game is... I don't know how to spell it, but it looks promising, but failed to deliver it.
The physics are a little weird, the pacing a little slow, the strategy a little luck-based.
I won just by waiting the AI to move and let their general unprotected, then I would send one of my soldiers to their general and sink the ship. I did this for all three of them, and won easily.
So the game is just about moving (slowly) your ship, waiting for the enemy to send their waves, and time the launching of your soldier into the enemy general. Not much of a gameplay.
But, anyway, it looks promising, the concept is good. Just needs more polishing and more content to make strategies (on plural) viable.
Great graphics and music. The soldiers doesn't have enough effect so I can't win, and the IA can't with either, so the game stuck in limbo. :( Was a cool idea, I hope you continue to work on the game!

The game idea, graphics and music is super great. But the game very hard to play. But I hope to see a updated version of this game.
Cool idea & art style, but the game mechanic is... meh
The whole thing looks fantastic, but the mechanic was a little awkward to work with. I couldn't entirely figure out what it was meant to do, but it was hilarious to watch.
