I think there is a nice start here, but not much of a "fun game" yet :( I like the idea of having to move your character around to collect and place items/defenses. Have you considered any other mechanics for the character? Something like resource collection in RTS games.
couldn't figure out what to do really :/

Couldn't quite figure out how to play this. I kept collecting bags and placing their contents in front of the zombies, but nothing seemed to happen. Still this seemed like a promising game.

Seems to be a bug where I pick up bags, but then can't use them. I like the magenta hell-fire from whence the zombies emerge! "Magenta Hell-fire" will now be the name of my next game.
I get how to play. I reccomend putting "Its like Plants vs. Zombies" in the description somewhere, because that's how I thought of it. It was pretty easy though... The graphics were really good. Nice and slick looking. I loved the background track too. Nice and atmospheric. Good job!

@geekygenius Its definitely inspired by plants vs zombies, it was going to be a mix of that and harvest moon but I ran out of time to add in more of the harvest moon like things :(
@cacciatc You have 3 different bags plus the watering can that you can swap through with Q and R or Z and C so make sure you're looking for the right one when you pick up a bag. Thanks! let me know when you finish Magenta Hell-fire :P
@Bemmu Make sure you use the watering can on the stones after you place them down / refill the watering can at the well
@Fritzendugan Sorry no time to make a tutorial section of the game :(
@pjchardt Ran out of time and couldn't make "waves" of monsters to fight so its more of just a sandbox than a game right now. This will be definitely something I'll build off of. Much more resource collecting and much more upgrading of your plants / different monsters.
Thanks everyone for their comments.
Didn't fit the theme that well, and once you had one row of plants, you were invincible. But the art was nice, and the music was very atmospheric.
It was hard to know what to do. You should have mentioned that it was a Plants vs. Zombies tower defence game, because I started planting stuff in horizontal rows before I even knew that zombies were crossing the screen.

What I could do was a good start, but I think the downfall of this is the lack of intuition. I could put stuff in the ground, but it would disappear when it got hit. You either need simple instructions, or redesign to act as people expect.
Overall, really good.
A little clearer instructions would help.
Maybe show entire inventory across the top and highlight which is active.
Also, the watering can should last more than one use.

I can 100% get behind harvest moon meets plants vs zombies. Aside from lack of polish and direction, I really liked this. Your sound design was very good!

A fun mash-up. A shame it's a bit too easy...

This is a sweet concept, but the game feels a little incomplete(pretty common in a game jam). It takes a little longer than it probably should to get a grasp on what's going on, and how to win. As you mentioned, it's more of a sandbox at this point. I hope you make a post-compo version, as this game has more potential than almost any I've seen.
Idea was good but the execution was lacking, you could make just one row of plants and they destroyed everything. Good job otherwise.
