First time I ran it I spawned inside the ground XD A fun game - good platform movement. But I died when I ran into what I think was the lag problem you mentioned - a sudden slow down and then speed up as if it was catching up with itself
Oddly fun! The hint that the boulder would kill me made me laugh. Also it looked a bit like a giant cookie, but the game crashed when I tried to eat it. I'd have liked to have seen a score (distance traveled) as well as the difficulty getting progressively harder (perhaps the terrain gets more uneven as you go on? Starting out mostly flat?) Graphics weren't bad. If you made the main character a bit cuter or gave him some personality that would add a lot to the theme of the game. i.e. a fedora. Fun game! My son also enjoyed it.

Not that bad. But it's a real shame that the game has no progress in difficulty. I died once or twice - a pity the game just stops, btw - before I had the controls figured out, and once I did, it wasn't that hard to keep in front of the boulder.
Keep it up!

The grapple hook line was a wee bit too flexible reducing it's usefulness.

Not a bad proof of concept. Completely random terrain isn't very exciting though. Need difficulty ramping and variety.

About the game, it was a bit funny bit there was no challenge at all, I kept jump pressed and always escaped from the big rock, also nothing new happened.
About the distribution, the game didn't worked by running run.bat nor jones.jar but after copying native files to the same folder where jones.jar is, it worked. Also, why didn't you released a linux version if you were using java and lwjgl? I tell you that because I use mainly ubuntu and have to restart to windows to test your game to discover it could be played on linux if you put the natives for lwjgl there.
Good luck.

Heh, + humor points for "The boulder will kill you!" Aww, really? I thought we could be friends. :)
You should definitely develop this game. Grappling hook seemed inconsistent - was that because it could only go out to a certain length, or what?
There's definitely some gameplay involved, but not much of a game. Just like you warned - it's unfinished and feels unfinished, but not that far from the end. It's not clear that player needs to click on the ceiling tiles to use the grappling hook. Once I figured that out, the game was too easy. Sometimes the boulder behind me would slow down for no apparent reason. It's not a bad start for a game, but needs some polish.

@marudziik:
I agree completely. I didn't have enough time/dedication to finish the game. But my number one goal was releasing anything at all. I've already though of a few ways how to work around the problems I've encountered for the next LD which I plan to participate in again.
I had some problems with that grappling hook (could almost never fire it), and sitting with my laptops touchpad wasn't of great help. But what I like most of all about the game is the graphics =D Its really really ugly... but actually its so bad that it becomes good! ...or maybe its just me(?) but thanks to the graphics I played the game with a huge, warm smile! I love it =D (sorry for being weird)
