| Oct 6 06:54:57 | Clear Skies | ♥ 1 | Managed to find the other 10 constellations, but I think the king might be bugged? I'm pretty sure this is the right group of stars & shape King.png Anyway, this was great! I was definitely a bit overwhelmed at the beginning, but once things clicked I could finish constellations just by finding a single notable star & looking at the general shape once, which felt awesome. Finishing the Dragon especially was a highlight. It also really nailed the feeling of searching for stars alone with nothing but a book of vague hints & sketches. Searching for the final few stars & constellations in the end did get a bit tedious, as the map is pretty big and hard to navigate in, but otherwise really good entry! | |
| Oct 6 07:16:20 | 21m 23s | Veggies Clash | ♥ 1 | Managed to complete the collection! Loved how the rich kid had good cards with anti-synergy Collect.png Anyway, this was awesome! Definitely biased here but I loved your take on the theme :) The graphics & sound here were both great and funny, really liked them. The card minigame was also fun, a Salamto I picked off the floor near the start definitely carried me. Speaking of picking cards off the floor, it felt like they ruined the balancing a bit, but it doesn't matter too much considering the game's length and it is a good anti-frustration measure. All the little effects & tutorial were great touches too. Overall just a very well done & fun game, amazing entry! |
| Oct 6 07:32:18 | 15m 58s | Xenolith | ♥ 4 | Thank you both @commanderstitch and @threeli, thanks to your combined effort I found the missing three coins & reached the end! Victory.png Anyway, this is such an awesome concept! I love this sort of games where you can't replay it & have to leave with your mistakes (or in my case, victory). It also works great as an LD entry using the comments as the community! I feel like you underestimated us though since we beat it before the Jam was even over :) It does make it a bit hard to judge the game itself since uh, I only collected 3 coins & zero orbs and can't replay the game now. But the concept, graphics and SFX were all great! Overall definitely experimental, but it paid off I think! |
| Oct 6 07:53:23 | 21m 05s | The Hoarder’s Curse | ♥ 3 | Managed to beat it with a score of 66! The end screen disappeared before I could take a screenshot but trust me :) Anyway, this was fun! Loved your take on the theme being a hindrance, and just coins as a thing to avoid in general. The graphics were great, and I liked the music & SFX here (although the coin sounds felt a bit too loud). The later levels where there wasn't always a visible chest on-screen definitely got frantic. Don't have much feedback here, this was a pretty solid entry! |
| Oct 6 08:13:22 | 19m 59s | Chickens Go Home | ♥ 1 | Managed to find 278 stuff, should be enough to reach the sun more or less :) Score.png Anyway, this was fun! The department store level was the highlight for me, with a bunch of stuff to collect and a mysterious invisible elevator music player. The opening & ending scenes were cute too, although it was a bit hard to read the opening crawl since the text blended in with the chickens & paper in the background. But yeah, overall a short & fun experience! |
| Oct 6 08:32:15 | 18m 53s | Demon Scalper Blues | ♥ 1 | Thought about speedrunning this but I feel like my initial run's time was borderline perfect already 10100.png Anyway, this was awesome! As always the humour was fantastic, my highlights were the burning lollipop, "I know! I'm in the pot!", and I like emulators :) McDonald's + Smog was also the best game setting I've ever seen, forget Hyrule. The game itself was also pretty fun, the idea of evil cursors collecting the loot from the enemies you defeat was clever and all too real. It did feel a bit easy, like even if enemies collected some souls it didn't feel like there were any consequences (I saw the souls lost counters but had to intentionally let the demons collect all souls to see the lose screen), but that's always better than the "too hard" alternative :) Overall fun game with an amazing premise & dialogue! |
| Oct 7 18:42:51 | 34h 10m | Collecting Cube | ♥ 3 | Managed to collect all the McGuffins! Score.png Anyway, this was great! 3D platformers are hard to get right but I found the controls here pretty good. The wall jumping took some getting used to, and I appreciate the first wall jumping segment having no consequences for my (many) attempts to get it right, but once I did it felt great. The dash & mid air jumps were all cool too, my only nitpick is that the regular walking speed felt a bit slow compared to the dash. The level was also well-designed, I never found myself getting lost despite the very samey platforms which I definitely appreciated. I did struggle with two sections near the end though: the one where you need to get to the top of a huge platform from underneath it and the final one. For the first it was just very unintuitive for me what I needed to do, I kept trying to climb it from the other (platformless) side which didn't work (should've screenshoted it but alas, I hope you get what I'm talking about). The final section just required a bit too much precision for my taste, since by the time I rotated the camera to look at the correct place it was too late and any jump/dash just resulted in death. I had to memorize camera movements by the end which uh, didn't feel great. Despite that, the rest of it was really fun! Again, very good controls & level design. I also liked the little cube stretching effects and music + SFX. Overall, really good entry! And it's always nice seeing more Godot converts :) |
| Oct 10 09:18:03 | 62h 35m | Overdraft Charles | ♥ 1 | Managed to get into jail! Er, wait, that wasn't really my goal- Anyway, this was awesome! I really liked the graphics here, reminded me a lot of Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor. The concept was pretty funny too, and I loved the integration of robbing the same guy over and over in the ending. There was a lot of content for a compo entry too - the tutorial, cutscenes, upgrades, even the little randomization of the house each day was great (one time the kitchen had nothing but loudspeakers, truly the commentary about consumerism leading to starvation we needed). Super polished stuff! While writing this I realized that I completely forgot you could grab items... I only hit furniture & vaccumed stuff, so keep that in mind. Anyway: the game did get a bit grindy towards the end, especially after the extended time per day upgrade - I found myself waiting ~half a minute each day with nothing left to ~~rob~~ collect, but there was no option to end the day early I could see. Also, the empty vacumm + throw actions felt a bit superfluous, as I'd always just go to the drop area and immediately press J + E - feel like this could've been removed & items automatically collected once you entered the drop area. Other than that though, I had a lot of fun! And honestly it probably would've been way less grindy had I not forgotten grabbing items exists anyway. Overall, amazing entry! |
| Oct 10 09:57:28 | 39m 25s | Gemwright | ♥ 1 | Managed to finish the game! Let it forever be known that I used to be 5th place :) SS.png Anyway, this was really fun! I really liked all the effects and having to balance between durability/quality/temperament. The SFX was pretty good too, especially the different tunes for quality/progress increases. I found the midgame the most interesting, since I had to think a bit for each gem and hadn't had a consistent strategy yet. But the end was pretty fun too, where I just got all level 5 gems in a row after unlocking Laser Focus :) It was a bit annoying when I had a high quality gems and no collectors to buy them (except at a lower level which felt bad), so I found myself intentionally making lower quality gems to match collector/upgrade requirements, which also didn't feel great. Otherwise though, I really enjoyed it! Great entry! |
| Oct 17 14:13:28 | 172h 16m | Masterpiece or Forgery | ♥ 2 | Managed to get a perfect score! ...After 3-4 failed attempts, I was quite bad at this. Anyway, this was nice! I love the concept here, and everything looked pretty good. The music also definitely fit the vibe. I also enjoyed some of the forgeries, the acrylic paint especially :) Like Linus Lindberg I also thought that the artwork name/creator were part of the hint whether it's fake or not, but I'm glad that's not the case since I was unfamiliar with some of the later works. Maybe this part could've been removed? I also completely missed the front/back buttons until my final attempt, but they were pretty cool! Overall though, I really liked it, a short and sweet experience! |
