| Apr 8 02:24:25 | Trench Diver | ♥ 2 | The eels are real slippery! Couldn't quite figure out a strategy for dealing with them, but that did add a neat tense atmosphere when descending, as I was trying to spot and shoot the fish before they got behind me :D Didn't manage to get more than 160m deep, but it was fun while for a few rounds. Some atmospheric noise or music could've helped with immersion a bit. | |
| Apr 8 02:43:02 | 18m 37s | Umbrage | ♥ 1 | Excellent entry! Love the animation and the look of the player character, the umbrella such a cool item to build the game around. The level art and music tracks are good as well, there's a pretty consistent style and I didn't really get bored of either by the time I finished. There's clearly also a very high skill ceiling, because there was a whole lot of those collectible things I didn't even get near, and I was already plenty challenged. Speaking of challenge, the randomization of the level is a nice touch, it made learning the different kinds of hazards more fun, as you weren't just running against one specific wall again and again, it was a much more smooth difficulty curve. The idea of *diving* into the *depths* is a fun take on the theme too. Well done! |
| Apr 23 14:44:28 | 372h 01m | Ctrl + Dive | ♥ 1 | Really well done on the visuals, the radar effect, the wiggling, the curvature and chromatic aberration, it really makes for a distinct and good looking game. The gameplay is simple but works, though I wasn't great at the lower levels once the ship starts ~~moving by itself~~ being really affected by latency — I barely avoided the walls when it was just me and my WASD 😅 Nevertheless, good vibes. |
| Apr 23 15:02:01 | 17m 33s | Airman57 | ♥ 1 | A great lesson on Newton's first law 😁 I got a pretty good strategy going, but didn't manage to finish since the distance was so great given the speed I was going at. Still, very snappy controls and difficult-but-fair gameplay. The ship graphics are simple, but fit very nicely, and communicate the gameplay effects very well. |
| Apr 23 15:15:26 | 13m 25s | Into Enemy Depths | ♥ 1 | This is great, big props for making such a full game in the compo! Well designed balance too, wasn't too easy for me to get to the end on the first try, but once I followed a bit of strategy, I got to the end pretty easily. The tank/dps/healer trinity is tried and true fun :) I think this level of difficulty is a good balance to strike for an LD game. Nice bit of narrative and a bit of variety in the stages too — again, well done with balancing all the different aspects of a game that make the experience feel like a full thing. |
| Apr 23 15:33:54 | 18m 28s | Cyber Descent : 999 Depths | ♥ 0 | Nice, solid gameplay loop for a jam game! The randomized challenges were fun, though I noticed that the bow seemed to fit almost all challenges a bit too well. That said, I do think being on the easier side is good for a jam game, it's much more annoying to repeatedly fail 😅 But yeah, nice concept, attack variety, and a good set of varying challenges for mixing it up. |
| Apr 23 15:58:40 | 24m 46s | Sea Dicegarden | ♥ 1 | Nice mystery! I took some notes about which combinations did what, but did not manage to become a successful sea-dice-biologist, but I had fun doing it. The art looks great and there seemed to be a nice variety of stuff to grow — unfortunate that I wasn't great at getting much to grow at all, haha. Still, always appreciate a good mysterious entry. |
| Apr 23 16:09:24 | 10m 44s | Canyon Cult | ♥ 0 | The mouselook seemed to get stuck somewhere on Firefox, but I got it working on Chrome. Great work on managing to get a first-person game running in the LD timespan! The idea of having a ton of enemies made of paper is always fun, makes for some frantic gameplay. In this case, it was a little bit extra hard, as you both need to be always shooting at enemies to not get overwhelmed, but also looking around to avoid getting killed by an enemy behind you, as they don't really make any indicative noises. Still, FPS entries are always a nice surprise. |
| Apr 23 16:25:03 | 15m 39s | Adventures MZ-015 | ♥ 1 | What a fun, and complete entry! I was really surprised at how long the game was, given that it was like, all level design! Speaking of, the map was nice and varied, though maybe a bit generous with the fuel, at least if you go through both routes. Well done making such a complete (and 3D!) game in such a small amount of time. |
| Apr 24 12:14:47 | 19h 49m | A Squire Acquires | ♥ 1 | I love this! It's really the core essence of a dungeon crawler, distilled into the perfect scope for a Ludum Dare game. Figuring out the thresholds/required items was fun trial and error, and the variety in what challenges you could have a go at between different knights really made the different stats meaningful, and thus the knights seem like their own characters. Fun to imagine a knight with a shiny hat and 3 rapiers finishing off the final quests of their adventure by swinging through some ancient ruins with a rope. Poor knights with low initial stats were doomed from the start by my impatience. Given how simple the game was mechanically, but I still really got into it, the writing was evidently pretty great. The graphics and music fit the vibe really well, and maybe as a good example of why GBC games work so well, I thought there were more involved sound effects than there really were (now that I went back and checked). Limits make the player fill in the blanks, if the stuff that *is* there is good. Played with the gbcc emulator, it worked great. Really big props for making a GBC game for the jam! Not only can I imagine it creating some fun limits for development, but playing it, having to boot up an emulator and feed it the file added some nice analogue charm to the game testing process. |
| Apr 24 12:33:35 | 18m 48s | Sewer Shift | ♥ 2 | Fun little sewer crawl, I dig (pun not intended) the general feeling of space and being down in some smelly sewers. The rats were even more spooky than the cultists, dunno what they were about, at least the cultists were clearly simply summoning something (perhaps me?). The occasional calls in the lit up spots were a nice touch. |
| Apr 24 12:50:03 | 16m 28s | West Coast '96: CIBUS DAEMONUM | ♥ 1 | Impeccable vibes. The TTS voiceover works really well with the art style, and honestly, the style is so good that the linearity of the game itself didn't really bother me. Big points for the art and vision. I can respect taking a sentence with the theme word in it, and manifseting the sentence into a game. Great stuff. |
| Apr 24 13:41:17 | 51m 14s | Toby's Room - Sinus' Version | ♥ 0 | I was pleasantly surprised by how personal it was, which is definitely nice to see! The quote at the beginning is a good one to be reminded of. The art, sound effects, background track and simple gameplay provide a good stage for the little stories. Good work! |
| Apr 24 13:48:04 | 6m 47s | Excapade | ♥ 2 | Nice feeling digging mechanic, cool looking UIs, and a simple but engaging combat system. Well done for including so many systems in a jam game! Again, great job on the shop/combat UIs and graphics, they really stood out to me. |
| Apr 24 20:19:45 | 6h 31m | Dream Diver | ♥ 1 | I dig the look of the game, how snappy the controls are, and the concept for the action-oriented JRPG combat is very neat. I would've liked an easy mode, that maybe allows missing a few to do damage (or maybe do damage to both me and the opponent?), because I could not get more than one hit in during the first fight during 4 attempts 😅 The targets just did not stay on screen long enough for my reflexes. Still, from what I could gather, nice entry, good work ✌️ |
