| May 2 14:25:39 | Glimpse of the Future | ♥ 3 | This is a pretty nice game for your first completed game. You have the gameplay loop in there where you can play, win and lose. Some quick notes that I hope will help you on your journey as a game developer. Learn Unity's collision system and follow up with the AI navigation. I naturally moved around the cars thinking collision would've stopped me, but the secret organization people didn't. I personally believe for a simple concept of an enemy chasing you, the built in AI will be a lot less work than hand coding it. A thing I tend to miss with game jams is player feed back when the do something correct. Usually playing a sound effect works, but majority of the time, you want to have something visual happen. Example: When you get more time, something should flash/flicker around the UI or appear by the player to alert you that you have more time. I managed to get 51 slices (on my third play), then I accidentally went off of the screen. 😄 One quick note. You should wait until the first slice of pizza is on the screen before starting the timer. On my second play through. By the time the first slice appeared I was in single digits and it spawned inside of a car. |

While doing the tutorial I ran in to the problem of not being able to read the text because I drove too far. Speaking of which, I REALLY love the fact that the tutorial forces you to learn the mechanics in order to continue. When the game started I clicked to gain focus and the instructions page went away, but luckily I was able to read/play the tutorial without having to memorize anything. I like the physics that you have but they worked against me too much. After my first play through I got the hang of it and started upgrading. But, once I upgraded speed I felt like I no longer had control of the car. Going to revisit this game a little later because I honestly want to see what the jump does, because I'm sure that would've saved me multiple times. |
