| Oct 6 04:23:47 | GitGood Dungeon | ♥ 1 | The character art & animation, as well as the art overall, is absolutely fantastic. Sounds were passable, though nothing great (which is super-forgivable given Ludum Dare time constraints - goodness knows I've skipped sound design a good few jams now), and the overall gameplay felt a bit rough around the edges - even with the roll ability, and the ability to hit things whilst mid-move, combat ultimately usually came down to who died first & if attrition would kill me before the enemies were all gone. The ability to swing towards wherever your mouse pointer is, with a little bit more speed, would probably resolve that - knowing when and how to dodge, then counterattacking the right moment, would make for a nice bit of extra engagement and let the dodge & dodge-attack abilities shine more. Still, this is a solid entry, and congrats to you & your cousin for both making a whole game, *and* tackling Git while you were at it! | |
| Oct 6 05:30:18 | 1h 06m | Shooty Loops | ♥ 1 | Lasted until level 8 (failed with just 2 pieces of debris left to destroy, oof), solid entry! Graphics are pretty good, the stylised planet/stars in the background are lovely, and the UI feels stylish in a grungy retrofuture sorta way that fits the mood perfectly. Music was solid, too, and the muffled *thump* of shooting the turret is ***really good.*** Unsurprisingly, I'm commenting about the debris/turret clipping: it's a wee bit annoying, especially when you're desperately gunning for those last few pieces of debris when the end of the final loop is seconds away, but super understandable given the complexity increase colliders or the likes would've brought. The limited turret rotation is a bit annoying as well, but also totally understandable & works with the aesthetics and mood, so I'd say you can get away with calling that a feature :P |
| Oct 6 06:30:55 | 1h 00m | Hamster Simulator | ♥ 2 | This is shockingly addictive, for as simple as it is. Never in all my years of jamming have I been so focused on simulating a hamster, let alone for fifteen minutes straight, and that is *delightfully* different. The looping bitcrushed-into-oblivion "gif" of the hamster in the foreground speeding up ever-more as you go faster and faster is fantastic, the music sets the tone somehow perfectly, and the constant juggling of stats to try and maximise your runtime and XP gain before getting tired is surprisingly compelling. I have no complaints here - excellent work! |
| Oct 6 16:59:32 | 10h 28m | Endless Orbits | ♥ 2 | This is a nifty little toy! I'm glad to see I wasn't alone in playing with orbital physics for this LD, and you went way farther than I did with every planet being part of an active N-body simulation. Prediction felt a little janky sometimes (especially when trying to shoot things), and the gameplay wasn't super clear to me, but had fun nevertheless. Nice work getting all this set up in just 48 hours, particularly the prediction system! |
| Oct 7 00:03:10 | 7h 03m | Loopedy Island | ♥ 2 | Good use of the theme, and cute vehicles, but not great in the gameplay department - it's just driving in circles and trying to avoid flipping over/smashing into other vehicles/running off the very thin track/etc, while dealing with physics and control jank ,which admittedly could've been a side-effect of the web player. Got some potential with polish and the likes, but not great in its current state. (Disclaimer: being an avid fan of Jalopy, the Truck Sims, and having made my own sim a while back using OSM data to allow for freely going on road trips wherever, I am heavily biased towards slow, realistic vehicle controls that'd work well in a game about driving on the open road, as opposed to hectic racing games, so some of this is very likely on me.) |
| Oct 7 05:08:16 | 5h 05m | COLORSPACE | ♥ 1 | This is a really solid entry! Reminds me a lot of Antechamber with the aesthetics and reality-warping puzzle design, as well as the super simplistic ambience. The graphical style levels are off the charts, the puzzles are solid, and I was honestly sad to see it end after only five levels - though that is super understandable given how hard puzzle design is, especially under Ludum Dare time constraints. My only two gripes are that platforming feels a wonky with the utter lack of air control or means of jumping farther, and the theme ties are not at all apparent to me, but they're by no means game-breaking and don't detract much from the overall experience. Great work! |
| Oct 7 05:23:44 | 15m 28s | Defuse in under 5 | ♥ 0 | This is swish as all get-out. Movement is tight, mechanics are easy to grasp and fun to master, graphics are pleasing, and the audio is excellent, in spite of how minimalistic everything is, plus it matches the theme perfectly to boot. I'd have liked to see more rooms to try and solve, but even here there's plenty to try and master. Best score I've gotten so far is 2860 or so on the default ~4sec time, and I can definitely see room for improvement with that score/time. Excellent work! |
| Oct 7 05:38:54 | 15m 10s | The final loop | ♥ 1 | This is a unique twist on the genre that works perfect with the theme! It's simple, fun, and gets a lot done with super minimal visuals - I especially like the running-light-esque flashes looping around the circle to let you know what way the enemies are coming from next. Being able to smoothly move your turrets/base around is definitely unusual, but it works really well, and I can see a lot of potential here. Great work! |
| Oct 8 03:48:14 | 22h 09m | RESET HOOLIGANS | ♥ 0 | Solid little puzzle game! Felt a little too prone to trial and error (I had to use the walkthrough for the first level, and then by sheer dumb luck won the second), and definitely benefits from the readily-available walkthrough, but definitely shows potential. Music was decent, graphics were passably retro, and the humour seems pretty on-par for the theme (though some of this may simply be I am biased in favour of anything using the term "hooligan" because it's *hilarious*) - my only complaint with it is that it's not entirely clear what's interactable at first & you have to hover over it to find out. A minor highlight or perhaps an increase in saturation compared to the greyscale two-tone world outside would probably do the trick, and help players get straight to the puzzle-solving. Good work overall! |
| Oct 8 04:08:11 | 19m 57s | Retro Stuck | ♥ 1 | Solid little game! Best-sounding (and looking) virtual keyboard I've seen thus far in *any* game, and the computer itself is delightfully chunky and retro. Even with all my years of coding, I wound up being too slow around ~30-35 points in and got swarmed, but had fun regardless. My only complaint is the font can obscure what you're supposed to type a bit, but it's only a minor issue & doesn't detract from the satisfying clickety-clack of mashing out words. Nice work! |
| Oct 8 05:01:56 | 53m 45s | deertective (deer detective) | ♥ 1 | Hilarious and solid little entry! Graphics were solid, dialogue was delightful, and the music was solid and atmospheric. I got the good ending (I think?) the first time around; !> As I suspected almost immediately after the report of jacket & hat from Someone in the hall, it was Officer 2. It is unfortunate he escaped, but at least the station didn't get shredded or anyone reduced to orbital debris. I have no complaints here - everything is well implemented and it's a joy to play through. Great work! |
| Oct 8 17:16:22 | 12h 14m | Stuck In Paris | ♥ 3 | This is surprisingly fun, and *deeply* stressful. I already had a healthy dislike for roundabouts, and being on one this massive with drivers even more prone to sheer lunacy and irresponsibility than those in the Truck Sim series is a nightmare come true. Almost all of my deaths came from other vehicles shifting lanes whilst literally perfectly parallel to my car, and even if it didn't kill me when they did so, the resultant mayhem of upturned vehicles usually would. Graphics are great, the screenshake when things are exploding adds a nice degree of punch, and the audio isn't bad (if a bit mood-whiplash-y with the music - it is WAY too chill and upbeat for a roundabout straight out of the ninth layer of hell), with the puttering retro car noises being quite lovely. Best score was level 14, and I may yet try again later to see if I can't get that level 20 mark - I'd hate to turn down an opportunity to spread the Trabant love... Great work overall, and I hope for everyone involved in its development's sakes that this is *not* based off a true story :P |
| Oct 8 22:09:11 | 4h 52m | Break the Loop | ♥ 1 | Solid little programming game! Graphics were nice and retro, code easily readable, and the little wiggly snaps as you move blocks around were lovely. Music was low-intrusiveness and makes for a surprisingly zen atmosphere to debug to, and the little bleeps of success were nice. Learning curve is definitely liable to be tricky if you've not spent years programming, but I had no trouble with it, and appreciated the meta-loop when you beat the last level. Great work! |
| Oct 11 04:36:00 | 54h 26m | Outside The Loop | ♥ 1 | This is a neat little platformer! Though it took me a couple minutes to figure it out, the loop-jump mechanic is super neat, and the way the map changes as you go through the loop portals is a cool idea - I can see a lot of potential here as a puzzle-platformer or the likes, challenging you to solve your way through an ever-mutating loop of a level. Graphics get the job done well enough, and the extended walk audio loop was an unexpected but pleasant surprise. Solid work overall! |
