Dec 5 19:28:01 Catlady ♥ 0 Nice job fixing it so fast! I just played and it's pretty terrifying. Claustrophobia doesn't usually affect me but I was feeling it for this little old lady on day 14. One frustrating bit was sometimes I would pick up junk/catbed/furpile and there would be * *another one* * directly underneath it, so there's no way to tell how deep a pile goes or if it was a glitch duplicating the fur.
Dec 5 19:35:15 7m 14s Steam Paralysis ♥ 1 On the bright side Steam paralysis helped me play this instead :P
Dec 5 19:53:44 18m 29s Ethereal ♥ 2 I ended on 7 or 8 I think. It's the pitch black on with tons of paths and green and white ghosts. The green ghosts seemed impossible until I realized that although they don't fall back asleep, there is a certain benefit to putting them back in the dark, which is how I got that far. Very innovative and great use of the theme! Is there a 3rd ghost type further in?
Dec 5 20:20:33 26m 49s Haven ♥ 2 Nice work making such a complex game in such a short amount of time. When I first tried to run the exe Avira quarantined it so to get it to run I had to restore it and tell it to ignore that file in the future. The threat name it was mistaken for was "HEUR/APC (Cloud)". Granted, I'm not actually suspicious of you, just warning you that some people will be. I've had GameMaker games completely deleted by McAfee. (corrected by McAfee within a week, back in 2010)
Dec 5 20:26:59 6m 26s Embol ♥ 2 I would love to play more of this 😁 It could do with more feedback based on your responses and I want to try that presentation on Thursday. I had a moment of fear considering how difficult that was going to be lol.
Dec 5 20:46:09 19m 10s One Million Dollars ♥ 1 Wow, well done. It's got cohesive sound and graphics, perfect timing, and man I just want to go back to playing video games with my son after work... things were easy then. Not that I have a kid yet.
Dec 5 21:05:29 19m 20s Mini Mystery ♥ 1 This is good, really exemplifies that cool innovations can be prototyped in a presentable way in a short time. I only wish I was better at playing it. It would be cool to have some clarity on different aspects, like does the corpse room light up upon murder or upon discovery? I would actually like to be notified if you pursue this project further.
Dec 5 21:20:53 15m 24s Holiday Parking Panic! ♥ 0 Took me a few tries but I made it to 7! This game shines with fun-ness. @danvil made a good point about the music as it's actually against the compo rules to use pre-made art/sound content like Kevin Mcleod's music unless it has been used to create significantly derivative work. Even without music though this is great.
Dec 5 21:36:48 15m 55s Reaper Boy LD40 Edition ♥ 0 I've never seen such a physically accurate reaping simulator. I mean, the guy is just cloak n' bones. You can't put much weight into a scythe swing like that. Dropping from the sky just makes sense when you've got to compensate for corpulent human weight.
Dec 8 04:54:24 55h 17m Herd of Bunnies ♥ 1 I was able to find a sort of balance but it was very difficult! It seemed like you have to hold back from bunnies when they're at their highest value because that's also your most fertile bunnies and the core that you need to keep alive. I just feel bad about butchering them...
Dec 11 05:45:08 72h 50m Just Fishing ♥ 1 The mood is over 9000. Your games always come together into an extremely well done package. And I finally got my dream of catching a big ole tunafish.
Dec 13 18:06:09 60h 21m Feature Creep Inc ♥ 4 Hey, most people won't install a Ludum Dare game. When you're in GameMaker Studio under "Create Application..." you should change the "Save as Type" to be either a compressed applications zip or a single runtime executable. I tried building the source myself with GM:S but was presented with a fatal error after I pressed any key at the start: ''' ___________________________________________ ############################################################################################ FATAL ERROR in action number 1 of Step Event0 for object oGameController: Variable <unknown_object>.<unknown variable>(100029, -2147483648) not set before reading it. at gml_Script_countSelected (line 5) - if inst.selected=true ############################################################################################ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- stack frame is gml_Script_countSelected (line 5) called from - gml_Script_cameraManagement (line 1) - nSelected=countSelected() called from - gml_Object_oGameController_StepNormalEvent_1 (line 5) - cameraManagement() ''' In order to play the game I fixed line 4 of script "countSelected" which was: for (i=0; i<=instance_number(oDev); i++) to just have a less than conditional: for (i=0; i<instance_number(oDev); i++) But I'm assuming you already fixed that in the install-able build :P I like the graphics, and the gameplay was really ambitious, it just needs more time and work. Even then though, from looking in the source I can see you already wrote a ton of stuff. Anyway, I like seeing stuff like this that tries what hasn't been done before! Good job!
