| Dec 17 00:59:00 | SUPERBLADE | Love the graphics and the detail in animation! It was pretty fun to play, although it was also really frustrating at times. I wish that enemies had the same handicaps you did, such as not being able to go on spiked tiles and that we couldn't occupy the same space. Otherwise I had a fun time playing! (Even if I'm awful at it haha) | |
| Dec 17 15:41:00 | 14h 42m | The sidekicks | Haha, this is pretty cool. The art is fitting and the dialogue is good, although it felt like a really relaxed game while the premise sounds like it'd be tense and high stress. <br/> <br/>The first time was lucky and I just sat on the hacking computer while the fireballs mostly missed and I managed to win with around 20% health, while never touching any other controls. <br/> <br/>This reminds us a lot of a game called Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime which was a GDC/PAX favorite of ours: http://www.asteroidbase.com/dangerous-spacetime/ |
| Dec 17 15:54:00 | 13m 00s | Hose Before Bros | Co-opetition is always fun because no matter the game you're forced to compete against friends who'll make it fun. <br/> <br/>That being said, you all have managed to create a wonderful platform for a co-opetition. The dynamic of having to sacrifice carrying the woman to safety to put out a fire and advance towards the exit is brilliant. It gives enough chances for skirmishes between who grabs her first without going too early. If anyone gets too eager and picks her up too quickly there will still be a fire ahead and they'll take damage trying to get through, brilliant! <br/> <br/>Wonderful game! From concept to the fitting art style, to the humorous touches, it all comes together into a great experience. |
| Dec 17 16:05:00 | 11m 00s | Berathen Jam | I agree with Gamelabbers, I couldn't stop until I'd beaten all the different game types. It was really cool to try and figure out how best to beat all of them, like the one where you're supposed to shoot the ship. The first two times I just sat there and took a shot after a second, it was the easiest thing to do but when it came around a third time I was holding the movement buttons and then realized just how hard that level is if you move anywhere or miss that first shot :) |
| Dec 17 16:13:00 | 8m 00s | You (Must) Only Get ONE | Wow, that is really awesome! I played on a laptop but it really deserves to be played on a touchscreen device. It is fun and really challenges the mind. I wish there had been more of an indication of a timer counting down for each round, I didn't see anything that looked like a timer and was surprised on the harder levels when I didn't finish one in time because up until that point I was under the impression that there wasn't a timer at all. <br/> <br/>Can't wait to play it on mobile :) |
| Dec 17 16:23:00 | 10m 00s | Only one bullet/rectangle thing. | The weird angles made for some serious thinking before taking a shot, the only problem I have is that the position of the mouse cursor and the direction of the shot are different. <br/> <br/>Overall, I did keep going back and retrying levels because I got hooked on finishing the game. That is the sign of a good game :) |
| Dec 17 16:31:00 | 8m 00s | laserbug | I love these kinds of games, and although I can see why you'd avoid putting the full path prediction in this game it would be nice to have the initial path before any bouncing get traced simply because it's hard to see where the beam would go based on a mouse cursor (sorry touchscreens, you're even less accurate!). <br/> <br/>Overall I had a lot of fun playing. The first time I did decently well, then I did worse, then I did horrendously, then I did better than the first time using what I'd learned from the mistakes! Awesome :) |
| Dec 17 16:36:00 | 5m 00s | Byte's Socks | Sometimes it felt weird when the socks got dirtier by jumping through the air but overall it had enough challenge and was silly enough to be entertaining and fun. Plus, robots. No more need be said. |
| Dec 17 16:39:00 | 3m 00s | One Strike | The response to my pressing Z felt a bit delayed which made me wonder if I'd gotten it within the time boundaries which is awesome because it adds to the tension of the big reveal after the slicing. It is also a gorgeous game. Very well done! <br/> <br/>Also, I don't mean to be a grammar nazi but "Strike as they raise* their blades." |
| Dec 17 17:04:00 | 25m 00s | When Arthur found love | I love love love these kinds of sequence based games! I too was sad when it ended so soon, would love to see more levels and things to interact with. Please keep developing it! :) <br/> <br/>Reminds me a lot of a ton of games, but Lightbot in particular: http://armorgames.com/play/6061/light-bot-20 |
| Dec 17 17:12:00 | 8m 00s | Starbeard: The Curse of the Space Whales | Amazingly well-designed concept, I love that once you've shot the harpoon you get shields to defend yourself. The movement is drifty but I'll forgive that since it is supposed to be space. <br/> <br/>This definitely needs some polish and post-LD work! It would be a lot of fun as a fully realized game. |
| Dec 18 11:01:00 | 17h 49m | You Only Get One Worker | Hahaha, that's pretty clever. The only other time I've had only one worker would be Terraria/Starbound and there the progression is a lot faster. <br/> <br/>Couldn't find any bugs but it was tragic that it felt almost impossible to meet the king's first request, had to make up for it by never missing another one again :) <br/> <br/>Very clever take on the theme! |
| Dec 18 11:10:00 | 9m 00s | ENDLESS NIGHT | Wow, it was incredibly atmospheric and sometimes felt like I was interacting with other people. Really well done, it seems to capture the feeling of being in space really well :) |
| Dec 18 16:50:00 | 5h 40m | Mad One | Definitely a funny premise and well executed in the few levels there are. I have to admit you piqued my interest with the haunting last lines, I would love to see how a real clone would play out :) |
| Dec 18 16:56:00 | 6m 00s | soulmate | As others have said, the floaty controls were a bit unexpected since platformers usually have more tight controls. But unlike the others, I think it would be more interesting if you found a way to make the sliding part of the game. Since this is a heart it would be funny if it rolled to a stop when on the ground. <br/> <br/>Also, the screen shaking when on the last bit of health (while very interesting visually) is just adding insult to injury. Kicking people when they're down only works if you've set up the mood to have it be expected. |
| Dec 18 17:05:00 | 9m 00s | Escape Of The Red Gem | Despite the movement overall being a bit slow, I've never played a game with this kind of control. It actually felt pretty cool to go off a ledge and then fly up later on to reach a ledge far off or to tap the fly button and hover at a fixed height. <br/> <br/>Incredibly rewarding game. Well done! |
| Dec 19 16:00:00 | 22h 55m | Backwater Rider | That was pretty cool, it is a simplified version of a planet crawler with only a few key decisions. It felt like I could make any significant progress because I would just run out of fuel and the maze exploring was a bit buggy but overall it was a really fun experience to fly from planet to planet. <br/> <br/>I noticed it was taking a while to start up so I watched the network progress, this game is 11mb. But the game itself doesn't have high-poly models with giant textures or anything. Did most of that go towards the music? |
| Dec 19 16:14:00 | 14m 00s | Fantastic Franklin | Hmm, doesn't seem to run properly on my computer. It looks like I can see the game screen twice in an already small window, with black and white rectangles beneath those. Am I seeing the double buffering simultaneously? Haha. <br/> <br/>In any case, here are my system specs: OSX 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) running on a MacBook Pro with retina. |
| Dec 19 16:25:00 | 11m 00s | Impoverished Starfighter | I love me some ship shooters so this was a definite treat! It was difficult but more than that it suffers from a problem that bullet hell games needs to be very careful about: I didn't know what my hit area was. Without being able to easily tell the game becomes a lot more difficult. <br/> <br/>Also, it would be nice to have some feedback that my bullets are doing damage to those enemies that take several hits, sometimes I was about to give up shooting them (under the assumption that they might be invincible) right before they exploded and proved they were killable. <br/> <br/>As a whole though, the $1 limit was funny and I enjoyed flying between bullets and learning what enemy ships did what and how to best fight that new type. Great work! |
| Dec 19 16:28:00 | 3m 00s | You only get one-fail | It launches java, the window title is "Login", then it closes. Can't play, on OSX 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) with jre 1.6.0. <br/> <br/>Tried again with 1.7.0 but the problem persisted: <br/>Error <br/> at com.piratefraser.LD28.graphics.Sprite.<clinit>(Sprite.java:11) <br/>Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: input == null! <br/> at javax.imageio.ImageIO.read(ImageIO.java:1388) <br/> at com.piratefraser.LD28.graphics.Spritesheet.load(Spritesheet.java:25) |
| Dec 19 16:39:00 | 11m 00s | YOGO Submarines | Despite the audio getting annoying after a while the game itself and the idea are really awesome. Well done! |
| Dec 19 16:44:00 | 5m 00s | The Gift | That was awesome! I managed to beat Santa on my first go but it was close, I was down to one heart. Really love being able to nudge the gift box with snowballs too, helped me reposition it when it got close to the edges. <br/> <br/>Also, I was moving when I defeated Santa but afterwards the game stopped accepting my directional controls although the character kept running in the direction I had been when I won. It was a bit funny and only the most minor of bugs. <br/> <br/>Well done! |
| Dec 20 01:30:00 | 8h 46m | Luminess | This is really awesome, I am loving the mechanics and it is a beautiful game! The music and sfx were also very complementary. Well done! :) |
| Dec 20 01:54:00 | 24m 00s | Rude Bear Resurrection | This is absolutely incredible O.O <br/> <br/>I love the coopetition you've got going here and the physical corpses that can either get in the way or help you survive are great. Very well planned out and realized. Also love the characters! |
| Dec 20 02:01:00 | 7m 00s | One Arrow Guy | Targeting was a bit difficult because I never knew what I was aiming at when my cursor moved around but the game itself was surprisingly fun and challenging. |
| Dec 20 02:10:00 | 9m 00s | Park King | Had no idea what I was doing at first, the tutorial should really highlight areas and point to things instead of just using text, or at the very least show the playe what they're supposed to do. When I started understanding the mechanics then it got really fun! You need to find a better way to explain it and you'll be golden :) |
| Dec 20 02:26:00 | 16m 00s | Asteroids:Omega | A very cool take on the classic asteroids game, really love the geometry wars look too! |
| Dec 20 02:38:00 | 12m 00s | Batteries Not Included | That was impressive. I like the mechanic but sometimes it does get a bit tedious. Would love to see more levels! |
| Dec 20 03:26:00 | 48m 00s | Aquila | I got all the relics but nothing seemed to happen? I ran around and unlocked most of the map but still nothing... at least it was fun and engaging enough to keep me unlocking tiles. |
| Dec 21 22:16:00 | 42h 50m | Doubt | Beautiful art and mood! I loved exploring the world you've created and seeing what can be done. I eventually hit the room with 4 doors and wasn't sure what to do from there, but up until the point everything was really well done. Great job! |
| Dec 30 01:42:00 | 195h 26m | Flight 1413 | Wow, that was actually really fun! First try I did not get it and burst into flames when touching a fuel can. The next few times I did a lot better. What a simple yet interesting mechanic, very well executed! Nice job :D |
| Dec 30 01:48:00 | 6m 00s | Earth | Wow, this got difficult very quickly! It was manageable until there were literally 30 asteroids on screen simultaneously. Still pretty fun, the arrow keys were both intuitive and extremely unintuitive depending on which side of the planet you were on. I like that you can shoot the planet yourself, definitely one of the first things I tried :) |
| Dec 30 01:55:00 | 7m 00s | Spacedentist saves the day | That last boss is wicked difficult! I love bullet hell games but damn, that was a minefield, still had a ton of fun, well done! :) |
| Dec 30 02:01:00 | 6m 00s | Bitmo Pirates MMO | Very interesting, and done in 48 hours? Damn impressive. Well done! :) |
| Dec 30 02:06:00 | 5m 00s | Only One Punch | Haha, my first thought was One-Punch Man. Very fun and simple :) |
| Dec 30 02:10:00 | 4m 00s | Only One | Very moody :) |
| Dec 30 02:12:00 | 2m 00s | Vega Core | Very enjoyable if a bit difficult, felt like it would get wildly more easy or difficult randomly. |
| Dec 30 02:14:00 | 2m 00s | One Man Armies | Haha, really enjoyable. Loved the use of the theme and it made for really fun gameplay. Had a bit of a tough time at first but it began to make more sense as I went along. Loving the pseudo-3d, looks great! :D |
| Dec 30 02:16:00 | 2m 00s | Aggrogate | I am just blown away by this! It looks cool, plays smoothly and is just plain fun. Not enough two player games in most LDs, loved it! :) |
| Dec 30 02:19:00 | 3m 00s | Super Epic Robot Battles | One of my classmates at university made a mech game complete with real-life cabin to simulate the feel of it all. This is more impressive considering you made it all in 72 hours! Very fun, love mech simulations. Hopefully someday we'll be driving our own? ;D |
| Jan 2 09:19:00 | 79h 00m | Fishbowl | Interesting game! I lost on the first playthrough since I neglected door and went straight for the money (wonder what that says about me :P) but after that I picked up on the pacing of the game where I explored everything before I engaged on the cages. It was brief, but I think you did a great job for your first LD! :) (You should totally do a post-mortem for GameCraft ;D) |
| Jan 2 09:25:00 | 6m 00s | Hospital Trash | Loved the art! It has a great sort of street-graffiti vibe to it and I enjoyed it. That being said I thought the gameplay was alright. The first time I opened up the game, clicking "start" took me to Game Over. I refreshed the page and it was fine. The clicking mechanic was alright, but it felt a bit exhausting for me. Great atmosphere though! |
| Jan 2 09:30:00 | 5m 00s | One Arrow | Really beautiful game! I thought the game mechanic grew a little old after a few waves. The enemies weren't especially challenging, where the main difficulty was in finding ways to shoot at the enemies. But it's a really great idea, and I loved the idea of having only one arrow to shoot at enemies. |
| Jan 2 09:40:00 | 10m 00s | Shine | Amazing game!!! I know you always make great ones, but I think this is especially really interesting in game mechanic. I loved juggling the light orb and the character and how these are controlled. Of course the graphics are great, and the music/mood work really well together. :) Great work! |
| Jan 2 09:42:00 | 2m 00s | The Battle of Infinite Birds | Neat game! I like the idea of only having one bullet and having to catch it to recharge it. The moose controls are a bit strange since he doesn't directly follow you. It gets frustrating here and there, but overall it's a nice game! |
| Jan 2 09:45:00 | 3m 00s | Dan the Newspaper | Very strange game lol. It was an enjoyable Choose Your Own Adventure type scenario, with a lot of really surreal things happening. |
| Jan 6 18:51:00 | 105h 06m | Life: The Cynical-Hipster-Tetris Version | Really interesting game! I love the way the game builds and the story that sort of goes along with it. (Really reminds me of Thomas Was Alone while I was playing :3) Really enjoyed it! Great work! |
| Jan 6 18:53:00 | 2m 00s | Wild Growth | I found it a bit difficult too. I felt a bit overwhelmed, and thought the learning curve to ease into the game could be a bit more gentle. Nice graphics, it's got a nice whimsical aspect to it. :) |
| Jan 6 18:56:00 | 3m 00s | One Take | I was really looking forward to playing this! (So glad I finally got around to it :P) It was just as fun as I expected it to be, and I really love the mechanic and idea around it. I sort of agree with others in that it is loosely based off of the theme since you're taking multiple shots (but yes, one chance per criteria!), but I still loved it a lot either way. It was wonderful! Great work! |
| Jan 6 18:58:00 | 2m 00s | Make it Count | Neat use of the theme. I had to give up during the last level too, but everything before that was pretty satisfying. I liked your art direction with this, with the colors and the mood. |
| Jan 6 18:59:00 | 1m 00s | Sweet Beats | LOVE the graphics! It's so whimsical and fun, and like another poster said it reminded me of Earthbound. Really great work! :) |
| Jan 6 19:01:00 | 2m 00s | Candy Runner | Great work!!! I love the visuals (although some of the font choices threw me off a bit). The game mechanic was a bit confusing at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was really fun and I enjoyed going through it. Jumping was a tadddd bit strange for me, but nothing that really hindered my ability to enjoy the game. |
| Jan 6 19:03:00 | 2m 00s | Wack Only One | Hahaha, I remember you telling us about how little time you had to make this. That considered, it's a fairly fun little game. |
| Jan 6 19:07:00 | 4m 00s | You Only Get Hitbox One | It's a pretty funny game, and the graphics really added to that. It got repetitive sort of fast, and I think changing up a few aspects of it would make it more fresh. |
| Jan 6 19:09:00 | 2m 00s | Gasha-power | Nice work! I love the nostalgic platformer feeling with the graphics and the gameplay mechanic. It was pretty laggy on my browser too, so I downloaded the game to play it. Great work for 48 hours :) |
| Jan 6 19:11:00 | 2m 00s | Doki Doggie | Hahaha the game is SUPER cute. I love that aspect of it. It's definitely simple and fits in with the theme nicely. |
| Jan 6 19:13:00 | 2m 00s | My Champion | Hahaha, love the inspiration. ;) The game was pretty hard for me since my perspective was to just try to shoot it into the goal (sports is not my thing...) but after much perseverance I was able to manage ONE goal! Felt good, even though I still lost. :) Great work! |
| Jan 6 19:17:00 | 4m 00s | Cure the infected! | The game really spooked me out. xD I liked the game, although the physics was a bit off for me and the game got really difficult out of no where. The idea is good though, and the audio was nice. Good work! |
| Jan 6 19:19:00 | 2m 00s | Creator Story Saga Tycoon | Not entirely sure how it relates to the theme, but it really is quite addicting!!! I think the choice to put it on android is smart, since this game (with a little bit more polish) could really be the next addictive mobile game. :) Great work! |
| Jan 6 19:27:00 | 8m 00s | Two Options... | Really great mood! I liked the graphics quite a bit, although staring at it for prolonged periods of time made all the little lines a bit twitchy for me. (I think it may just be me. :S) The jump precision is a bit precise, and it got frustrating for me to keep trying to clear jumps. But it was nice overall. :) |
| Jan 6 19:50:00 | 23m 00s | You Only Die Once | Really well established mood. I generally like text adventures, so I enjoyed going through this and getting immersed. |
| Jan 6 20:01:00 | 11m 00s | --- | HILARIOUS game! I love the choices, and the fact you named this game Boolean Tale makes it even more fun. I liked the interactive story and it was really immersive. Great work! |
| Jan 6 20:05:00 | 4m 00s | Once Charged | Super hard game! I liked the challenging aspect of it, and it took quite a while before it got too frustrating. I think it could use a *little* bit of a gentler learning curve to round out the game, but otherwise I think you did well. Good job. :) |
| Jan 6 20:09:00 | 4m 00s | A Weird Love Game | Haha, cute little game. The ending was nice, and it was fun to try my best to run away. Is there any way to avoid that ending? I almost felt like it was inevitable. :P I wonder if that's the life lesson in this game. |
| Jan 6 20:16:00 | 7m 00s | You only get one digit! | This is awesome! I love the non traditional approach to "game" for this. The puzzles were super reminiscent of old math puzzles I used to love. |
| Jan 6 20:19:00 | 3m 00s | Going Around | Great adventure game! I had fun figuring out how to get her out. I played a lot of these real life escape games, so I was pretty addicted to getting Ann out. :) |
| Jan 6 20:22:00 | 3m 00s | Super Rashomon RPG | I lOVE the different perspectives aspect of it. It would be fantastic if you were able to expand on those. Really enjoyed the game, and I think it had a very classic feel to the gameplay and the graphics. Great work! |
| Jan 6 20:25:00 | 3m 00s | Make Tetrominoes! | Really original game! Once you figure it out it's pretty smooth gaming from there. The difficulty never really ramped up for me, or if it did it was extremely subtle. |
| Jan 6 20:28:00 | 3m 00s | Single-Shot Space Hero: Adventures Through Time and Space; Encounters With The Green Worms of the Edgeworth-Kuiper Belt Planetoid Quaoar | The idea of one bullet is good, but it seemed a lot more easy to play and rewarding to just dodge the bullets coming at you. Every time I actually tried to shoot, I was just lousy at the game. :P Great work! |
| Jan 6 20:33:00 | 5m 00s | Javel-ein | Great work!! The game mechanic is nice, and I think the graphics really work together well to establish a clear mood and direction for the game. Controls are really fluid and it's very polished. Great work on the game!! |
| Jan 6 20:41:00 | 8m 00s | SCUMBAG | Really dark game. I was a bit down after I played it, but I think that's a testament to the mood and emotions you got out of the player with your game. I sort of agree with others that the audio was a bit grating. |
| Jan 6 20:47:00 | 6m 00s | ClockTower | The controls were pretty aggravating and felt unnatural. I liked the dungeon crawling aspect of it, and it was fun otherwise. I think the actual rooms could have different pitfalls or obstacles in the way. |
