LD46 — Keep it alive

Space Support by Jaacob 2020-04-22T17:57:29Z

I personally enjoy the controls of the game. It reminds me a lot of older arcade games, while having a unique twist to the formula. The concept is executed perfectly, with everything feeling very fluid. To improve, some sort of powerup that would refill your health, or even an extra life (that would be bought with the resources available) would be a welcome mechanic, but I enjoyed this anyhow. Great job!

The King's Knight by Fax 2020-04-21T10:19:19Z

This is definitely one of the better escort missions that I've played. The setting feels like you're in Medieval times, with a cute artstyle and matching music to boot! The game was also simple and easy to learn - no complaints about the controls. The level was spaced out nicely, with the concept coming to life very well. However, I would suggest improving the collision detection a little, mainly with the pitfalls. When any part of the player overlaps with a pit, they are seen as in it, forcing you to restart that part again. However, it's a very unique concept, you made it work great, and while there is room for improvement, I think you pulled it off very well. 4.5/5 overall.

A clever premise and an arcade-style feel compliment the gameplay, as well as all the beeps and boops. Good job!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Alarm Clock Arcade by blinry 2022-10-04T13:29:38Z

This game was very fun, all in all! The random generation kept me on my toes, and changing the stage to be a different number every ten seconds was genius. Even though the graphics were simplistic, it complimented the gameplay well, and I particularly loved the little remarks between stages. If I had to say anything, it's that the game got quite difficult in the later stages - especially with the bottom left corner (only available at 0 and 2) - but it was an overall good time!

Tiny Jukebox by bobo_oh 2022-10-05T17:36:17Z

This game truly feels as if chiptune, Dance Dance Revolution and pixel art had a little indie child - in that respect, it's very good. The amount of polish is perfect, the songs are brilliant despite only being 10 seconds long (a very creative way to mix in the jam's challenge), and the visuals are lovely. I particularly love the backgrounds - they keep the game feeling fresh, and remind me a little of Earthbound's trippy battles. Whilst being able to get to the end feels like a real challenge, it's an achievement once you get there, though at points when playing again, I could mash all keys as fast as possible without any drawbacks, which takes a lot of the skill away. However, I loved playing through it properly, and I would happily come back for more of the Tiny Jukebox. Amazing game!

Even though the graphics are a little plain, I LOVE the concept of this. The frantic dodging and taking pickups all makes for a super fun time, not to mention the balls are very challenging but satisfying to destroy. Love it!

Cybermachine by coolestdoggie 2022-10-05T16:13:07Z

This is probably one of the best games I've seen during this jam! Even though it's short, it's the perfect amount of sweet. Being forced to use a different weapon every ten seconds, which could range from useful to pitiful, or even get a heal/speed boost? And in the worst case scenarios, a finger gun or even a FORK?! It's a brilliant idea that I would love to see being fleshed out further. The controls feel amazing, even though the running speed does feel slightly slow in my opinion (though I got used to it), the enemies are challenging - I can't pick anything that impacts the game heavily. Two tiny remarks I would make is that the Energy Drink speed boost is very, very short, and lengthening it out by a few seconds could go a long way, and that the bomb enemies may need a slight nerf, as it's easy to run into them when dodging other enemies - even taking only half a healthbar would be a very welcome addition to the game. Overall, though, this was a brilliant experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done!

SPACE KATANA by JoeDev 2022-10-05T18:05:32Z

Being able to fight as an overpowered ship and have the training wheels hidden away from you, making you have to use your skills and your final chosen weapon? AMAZING idea, and it was pulled off very well too. Mowing down enemies was super satisfying, and I particularly loved being stuck with the Katana at the end - I set it to the final weapon, and trying to spin my way around and dash through enemies was a unique and risky experience, that was extremely fun. The variety in enemies was particularly enjoyable, as well - there were enough differences to keep me on my toes, as well as the number on-screen always feeling like the perfect amount. Not too many to make it impossible, not too little to make it too easy - I loved it. Well done!!

Meteoriseten by Igor Morgun 2022-10-04T14:57:50Z

This game is quite good, for a first game. It may be simplistic, but is quite enjoyable - the background looks lovely, and dodging the meteors and racking up a high score is satisfying. To make the game even better, I would say to add a few enemies to dodge between every meteor strike - also, when pressing return after losing, clicking play brings you back to the "You Lose!" screen, and this action has to be repeated in order to play again. However, despite this minor bug, the game is fun, and I can't wait to see what comes next in future jams from you!

LD52 — Harvest

Lo-Fi Harvest & Chill by gamesplusjames 2023-01-10T09:39:19Z

I absolutely loved my experience with this game! The vibes are super chill, and I absolutely loved taking my time and cutting down all the crops. The music was amazing, and the overall aesthetic was too. I did get stuck on the rock in level 2, but I can look past that tiny issue as I really enjoyed my time with this!
