LD55 — Summoning

Rise of the CatMancer by Daniel C 2024-04-16T11:57:55Z

I LOVED IT! I really did!

The voice lines, art and gameplay were AMAZING (funny af)

The sound over all is a bit too much at times. If you haven't, you should add a limiter (using your program of choice) so that no sound goes over 0 db. You could also maybe BitCrush effect. Whatever it is, it's a bit too much especially later on when it gets more hectic. The main menu music should also be increased, its significantly more quiet than the rest of the game.

I don't know if this is intentional, but the character also moves faster diagonally. This is a very common problem when first starting to make games, because the two movement get combined (diagonal and horizontal). It's a pretty easy fix, you can find it everywhere online.

In the parts with the weird building it's kinda hard to see the bodies,

Lastly, after about a minute of playing the first time the game crashed. I couldn't replicate the crash so it probably doesn't matter :)

Don't let all my criticm here confuse you. This is probably one of the best games in this Jam I've played so far. Keep it up man, I'm sure you'll make even more amazing games in the future!

Controls are a little weird, but I enjoyed it

It's definitely an interesting take on the theme. I found myself trying to move the cursor while the wheel was spinning, but that didn't work out so well with the more complex part of each shape. Maybe there could've been a slightly slower speed option the wheel? (maybe it's a skill issue)

It's a neat little project for sure, not much else I can say about it. But I don't want to discourage you! You participated in a Game Jam alone, went out there started a project, finished it and then put it out for the world to see. I really respect that!

I hope you continue to make games and I wish you the best of luck in your next project!

Love the art and environment!

Keep at it! 👍

The First of the End by Flokami 2024-04-16T14:01:26Z

Took me a bit to figure out how to play. You might want to consider a tutorial or like a quick animation on showing how the spells work, the explanation it kind of confusing :)

I enjoyed the spells once I figured them out. The dash feels very nice as well.

I don't like the aiming though. I believe that it's your biggest flaw. Maybe you could aim with your mouse instead and you could change the spells keys so that you can make spells, move and aim with the courser. It definitely needs to be improved somehow.

Audio could've been nice as well :)

I hope you don't find my criticism too negative. I think that you have an amazing game with great visuals, mood and a quite interesting and fun spell system.

I hope you continue to make great games, keep it up!

Mansion of Dreams by saintchristopher777 2024-04-16T13:35:16Z

I'm just gonna be honest... I'm stuck at the blender room. I don't know what to do. I've been trying for like 5 mins and I give up, I'm sorry... It kinda sucks when you try to summon or make something and it gives you the same generic item like the child for summoning or "a recement of what once was" for the blender. I get why you did it, but it's just annoying for me.

Maybe it's just a skill issue on my part though. It is always great to start and finish a project, whatever that project may be. Most people don't even get as far as you did - they give up. So props to you making and publishing your project!

I wish you the best of luck in you gamedev journey!

‎I see that a lot of you are congratulating us on making this game in our own engine. From all 4 us, we want to sincerely thank you! We didn't expect so much feedback, let alone praise! To be honest seeing 1000+ games being uploaded, I thought we would be left in the dust! Thank you all, and I hope to see you again in the next Ludem Dare Game Jam!

@prepe Sorry I took so long to try to help you, I've been busy with school and stuff. (And I kinda forgot about your problem, sorry!)

Our Lead Programmer @myri4 recommends to update your drivers if you haven't.

If that didn't work, please tell us what your gpu is. The game engine is made with Vulkan (a graphics API) and some GPUs (usually older ones) don't support it.

If your gpu and drivers are ok, then...We have no idea, I'm very sorry.

I played your game, it's pretty fun and very charming. I hope you will be able to play our game as well!

Cube's Calling by Icaka 2024-04-28T22:22:32Z

@klemen Yea, Nvidia GeForce 1650 supports Vulkan. Are you experiencing the same problem as Prepe? If so are your drivers up to date? Please let me know!
