LD46 — Keep it alive

Morose by 100th_Coin 2020-04-25T22:34:16Z

I played this even with the softlock fix and ran into a few oopsies regardless. ~ didn't seem to care that I already had white seeds and grew a white flower for her, so I tried to use the red and purple seeds in a recipe to progress the story, and as soon as I did so, it glitched out and gave me a blank flower that couldn't plant, looking like the same visual glitch Clayton has.

I like the visuals and the potential of the flower crafting mechanic. The story/characters seem a bit claustrophobic, being stuck between a murderous garden of eden caretaker and the snake holding the apple, but in 2 days I wouldn't expect depth on that front.

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-21T02:46:24Z

I love how impressive this is. It's a lot more wordy than I'd have expected from a 2 day affair, too, so while all that exposition isn't my cup of tea, kudos for having the time to do it.

I'm puzzle illiterate, so I had to accept death once I noticed that doing a blue card on a tile that was already up put it back down forever.

All in all, amazing. I didn't expect one of the first things I'd see would be such a banger.

Heart of Music by lesinvisible 2020-04-25T23:08:25Z

I like the effort put into the music, but the way it's implemented is jarring. Every thought you could have while playing is accentuated by a (sometimes random) guitar riff with the volume up WAY too high compared to the more ambient parts.

I dunno if it was the very first battle you could have, or if there was an opportunity to fight the Welcomer beforehand, but the Thing in the Swamp seemed to out-stat you entirely. Higher base damage, actually-good hit chances, almost double HP. If the Master the character was hunting was better than his subordinates, who for the sake of design I'll assume were the source of better gear, I don't expect to actually complete this without a lot of RNG.

I do enjoy RPGs though. It's nice to see new ones pop up. I hope this gets post-jam work, cause it could be real fun with some sound balancing.

Kakyuumari / カキュウマリ by studioNOKOI 2020-04-25T22:54:36Z

I like the physics, although I'm not sure if pressing spacebar to make the ball wig out was intended to be left in.

It was a bit tedious to actually win the game when you had such a low speed and relatively much less control of the ball compared to Katamari. Not to mention the camera controls being so restricting.

The "YOU WIN!!!" at the end is a bit deflating when the intro was so good, but I'm guessing that was a time crunch.

All in all, I liked this. We need more flails in games lately.

Village Vanquish by Reece Geofroy 2020-04-25T21:59:37Z

The art is great, the audio matched, and the theme was funny. It got frustrating as I had to watch the bear lemming into traps while the boulder was on cooldown, and I'm honestly clueless about what allowed my cursor to block the enemy caster's fire only half the time, but aside from that it was fun.

This is a standout. I thought there were going to be a few wonky cameras, but they fix themselves at just the right time. My only gripe is that the break sounds for things that aren't the jar seem a bit sharp compared to an actual failure, but that's incredibly minor. You made something REALLY fun.
