The music and art in this one is terrific. I was giddy to see a text adventure game that wasn't built out of one of the popular engines, too! Great work.

echonia 2020-04-21 23:52

I really liked this. The visuals are awesome, the interpretation of the theme, the fact that it's an RPG about music. Awesome. If you ever improve it let us now!

nablaz 2020-04-22 12:01

I loved the vibes and art of this game! The idea for a psychedelic / ambient-rock soundtrack to the story is great and I really liked it, but is not always perfectly executed in my opinion. Most sounds would need rework and some tracks (first one comes to mind) are definitely weaker than others... Anyways, I don't mean to bash on your work, I actually ejoyed it quite a bit! Cheers

wrimo 2020-04-22 13:01

The art, music, and writing are made this for me. If this got made into a full game, I would definitely play that.

jasonsumm1 2020-04-22 21:32

nice to see something a bit different here. Great art and cool music :)

finnthepirate 2020-04-25 22:22

it's great to see something different I love text FRP, artwork and music spot on, I think this could be developed further, you can add some michel gondry style handmade animations

ilya-acid 2020-04-25 22:27

epsil 2020-04-25 23:08

I like the effort put into the music, but the way it's implemented is jarring. Every thought you could have while playing is accentuated by a (sometimes random) guitar riff with the volume up WAY too high compared to the more ambient parts.

I dunno if it was the very first battle you could have, or if there was an opportunity to fight the Welcomer beforehand, but the Thing in the Swamp seemed to out-stat you entirely. Higher base damage, actually-good hit chances, almost double HP. If the Master the character was hunting was better than his subordinates, who for the sake of design I'll assume were the source of better gear, I don't expect to actually complete this without a lot of RNG.

I do enjoy RPGs though. It's nice to see new ones pop up. I hope this gets post-jam work, cause it could be real fun with some sound balancing.

neithernathan 2020-04-25 23:40

I really loved this game!!! The setting is simply awesome, and the art makes it shine even more. I just missing a link for the soundtrack :D

lairinlair 2020-04-26 00:07

Very original. Would love to play this again, after more polish on the story and the soundtrack. The overall mood and idea are really original. Very good work!

selftitled 2020-04-26 08:25

Music is good, I enjoyed hitting them with me "axe". Perhaps have a way to retreat from battle.

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 16:57

@erin, @wrimo, @jasonsumm1, @finnthepirate, @neithernathan, @selftitled, Thank you, I'm really flattered you liked my music that much. Here is a link to download a soundtrack in case you need it - http://hizhinape.ru/games/heart_soundtrack/index.html cover small ENG.png

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:10

@erin, Thank you, to be honest probably that's because I don't know Unity nor Godot or something. But for games of this complexity pure javascript is more than enough.

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:12

@echonia, Thank you, flattered to hear you liked art, yes, maybe one day this will become something with greater scale.

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:14

@nablaz, thanks for your reply, yes, I would agree that execution can be better, but to be honest I don't think that I'm such a great composer to begin with.

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:14

@wrimo, Thank you!

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:15

@jasonsumm1, Thank you, yes I think that games looks like a freak of nature here...

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:16

@finnthepirate, thank you, I've looked up Michel Gondry's animation, to be honest, I think you are putting to much faith in my artistic capabilities.

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:17

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:21

@epsil, Thank you, yes, I agree that game came out a little bit to hardcore and based on RNG. But in general I can say two things. First, initial plan was to motivate player to find the right combination of enemies (something like in Megaman) and second, I will confess on this one, the game has a secret ending for which you have to defend only Defender. But I sympathize your confusion.

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:21

@neithernathan, Thank you!

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:22

@lairinlair, Thank you, I'm not planning to come back to this game but maybe it will become a standalone game in the future.

lesinvisible 2020-04-26 17:23

@selftitled, Thanks! I thought about "retreat" mechanic afterwards, so I decided to stick to the "realistic" approach of reloading game everytime you die)

vesper 2020-05-01 11:59

"Death, my Darling." Haha, this game has so much attitude in the best possible way. Loved the core idea behind it and the story/setting has tons of potential. But above all else, the audio was amazing. Well done.

lesinvisible 2020-05-02 15:09

@vesper, Thank you, I'm really flattered!

kamilko 2020-05-02 17:25

Bloody great jam game ;)

There is some vibe like in Brutal Legend definitely.

However two things could be corrected: too big (or fixed) screen width and - it took me a second or two, to find out, that the text has clickable links.

lesinvisible 2020-05-03 19:01

@kamilko, Thank you. Responsive design is magic to me.

dane-tesla 2020-05-08 21:37

I rated it 5/5, it was amazing! I love the mood and graphics, the idea is great as well, one of my faves from the whole jam! <3 Great work! The soundtrack was delightful as well.

lesinvisible 2020-05-11 21:33

@dane-tesla, Thank you, I'm mesmerized you liked it that much.

gamebuilder 2020-05-12 18:21

The soundtrack hearkens back to Moonlight Kingdom (that's one reason I came here). The creative juices are really flowing in this game. I like the raw artwork and the music is top-notch. You have a lot of talent. Combat is interesting and whenever I cast a spell I was in suspense. It was also fun choosing spells and guitars. Alas I was unable to complete the game; I think maybe a little less randomness (and more opportunity for pure tactics) in combat would go a long way. I realize however that this is not easily done.

The writing in this game is brilliant. There are a lot of gems buried in the text, like "...Their telepathic whisper has already eaten hole in my brain." Keep up the good work, comrade.

lesinvisible 2020-05-19 12:51

@gamebuilder, Thank you, it's surprising to hear that somebody checked out more that one of my games and looks at them in the continuation. I don't believe too much in my drawing or music skills but I was inspiried by the reception of Moonlight Kingdom and tried to put them to more use here. And also add something resembling of a gameplay this time. About the difficulty I agree, it's a little bezoomny. On the other hand, guess there is no point of hiding it anymore, but you can actually have an easier "good" ending by killing the Defender and going to the last chamber but instead of fighting you should go back to Tribunal and resign from your mission.

gamebuilder 2020-05-19 18:59

"Death helped me to keep alive what was dead and buried when I was alive." There is food for thought in this!
