LD54 — Limited Space

Checkout Champion: Bagging Edition by No Grapes Games 2023-10-03T00:20:52Z

The idea is good. The pacing is too slow. It's very easy to just stuff the bags and send them half-full even when half-paying attention. And unfortunately, the score counter at the end just displays 0. I like the setup and the presentation though. I love how the blocks look like groceries.

Sorry, I couldn't get your game to launch.

I like how you can get more points if you make the controls harder. I collided 5x without the inertial limiters and got more points than using the limiters, so that's interesting.

The current level design feels a little bit like the focus is on finding the exit rather than navigating the course. I think the camera could have zoomed out so the player can move faster more confidently.

Nice work overall!

It was a sweet story. Very cool to see the creatures you came up with. I like that you click the words to interact with the story instead of pressing normal buttons. A good mix of unsettling (claustrophobia in a foreign land) and adventurously whimsical.

2 Dudes against the Liquidator by Kitira 2023-10-03T01:48:21Z

Wrapping your head around these puzzles is actually quite interesting, since you can teleport to any piece of furniture. I like having to work out the right order to complete the objectives based on how you might block yourself if you put something down. The gameplay is well-considered.

Controlling the game is a bit janky, sometimes I do feel like I get suck on nothing, and moving in two different directions doesn't work like I expect. It's definitely workable though, I could get used to the controls, but the AI images and writing are a bit offputting honestly.

Shrinking Space by Ruben Rosenmeyer 2023-10-02T22:18:07Z

The red ball that follows you is very oppressive. I got about 1400 points on my best run. It seems like the strategy is to collect as many rings as you can before the ball is free, because you only have a moment once it's free. It's fun for a bit. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you guys for the kind words so far!

Here's a tip for people who want to get further. Put some long-range defenders like Antibiotics in the middle along with a bunch of Mitochondria units. This will get you enough money to expand. Then, try to place some Mitosis units near the closing-in board to make way for an outward-facing base protected by close-range units.

Let me know if anyone beats my score of 3612!

I got 475! This is quite fun. Drawing shapes quickly with the mouse hurts the hands a bit, but I like dodging while trying to draw as a mechanic. The T seems to come up when I don't want it to a lot, but I do like the justification in the tutorial as some good flavoring for it. The weapons feel a bit weak, but I guess that's okay considering you can use them over and over.

Hell Burning in Divine (Lite) by Brevillo 2023-10-03T00:47:40Z

I like the idea that the player gets bigger as time goes on, making it harder to dodge attacks and making you aim differently. Unfortunately, it seems if you make it past the hectic beginning, you can't ever really die, since the enemies don't do enough damage to bring your health low. In particular, the big enemies don't even attack you if you're too big, because they can't get close enough to your "center" to feel like swinging.

With a few tweaks to balance, a score counter, and enemies which get more threatening over time, this could work out quite well. It reminds me of Devil Daggers.

Also, yes, clearly your mouse sensitivity is very low compared to most people. It's not a big deal since I could turn the sensitivity down.
