@walk Sorry! This should now be fixed.
I messed up the last puzzle, then tried to restart, but it didnt restart the block position. To be fair my mistake was very stupid.
got to try it out and its nice! I think the levels being tile based and the non-levels being not tiled based is an interesting idea especially!
It reminds me of playing 《Order of the Sinking Star》, which featured some clever little puzzles—and I have to say, this old man is genuinely hilarious. It would be even better if there were more levels and a greater variety of level mechanics; I’m really looking forward to seeing what other amusing antics this funny old guy might come up with!
Nice short game! Could solve all puzzle and have fun.
Am I right in thinking there are only 3 rooms in the game so far?
It would be cool if the rooms were connected to some kind of visible overall goal. For example, when you complete a room, a glowing line could extend from it to some kind of altar. And once all 3 lines are lit up, an artifact appears on the altar. Or something like that.
Anyway, good luck with the project!
Never heard of Sokoban so this was new to me, pretty intuitive though. More puzzles would have been nice, the old man was well drawn.
Finished it, I think! I liked the puzzle designs. Like others, I think more content would have been nice. Your drawings are nice.
What tech did you use? I noticed the Emscripten loading screen, which usually means someone did something interesting.
Thanks everyone for the nice words! :)
@enad96 there was a fix made for the bug you encountered.
@aterim yeah, was thinking that there would be something unlocking each time a room was solved. Unfortunately ran out of time.
@rogual All tech is homegrown sans SDL3 :)
Hey, I smells some Hempuli vibes here! (the creator of Baba is You). Some notes: * The browser version paused(?) the game in Brave/Linux right at the beginning (switching to another tab and coming back allowed game to start * I really appreciate the respawn point being next the latest unsolved puzzle instead of start all over again. * The SFX for walking got tiiny bit disturbing over time :P
A short but solid set of levels. I’ve never seen Sokoban levels all laid out on one screen before. I was afraid I’d have to restart the whole thing after a mistake, so I’m glad only the current puzzle resets.
Cool project! :3 I really liked to see all of the puzzles lined up like that, made me think in games like Power Sokoban, that have an exploration point aside the sokoban structure! :3 Really cool. The art is also quite charming, the colors felt nice and the overall design is clean and easy to read. Felt like a game with quite some potential to grow! :) Nice work, thank you for the game!
Edit: Somehow my ratings hadn't gone through early XD Just rated it again and now is everything alright :)
Great job! a short game but well designed and polished. Since I’ve played games like this before, I found it very easy to clear the three rooms quickly, it would have been great to have more puzzles. Still, considering the limited time available for the game jam, it’s an excellent piece of work. Congratulations! xD
I like the idea of the old man janitor, and I'm always down for a sokoban. The text went by a bit fast so I wasn't exactly sure what was happening the first time through. I agree with another commenter that the sound effects got to be a bit much. I like your concept of interconnected puzzles. I hope you can grow your solid foundation here into something more!
It's a shame you couldn't add more levels cause I think what you have is really solid. I like your pixel art and your attention to details, you even added grass particles when you moved blocks. Keep building on it, you have some strong skills!
