Unique Camera work, nice idea!
Interesting take on the theme. It was pretty fun to get to high speeds and watch the camera try to keep up. This game would be really cool with a synthy soundtrack imo, and some sfx would have gone a long way, but overall, great job!
Unclear to me how to get the orbs that spawn off the track - I jumped off with the right momentum to grab it, but then I just fell into the void and it wasn't counted.
It's a pretty simple yet elegant approach to designing a game. I think what it needs is a soundtrack that will contribute to the vibe of sliding on a rope made of thunderbolt in space.
@mattlevonian It seems like either your speed was wrong (too fast/too slow) or you jumped at the wrong place and just barely touched the ORB. There isn't (i think) any hidden tech in the game. I inserted my time as PAR to show that it's possible to complete (and I don't think I'm any good at the game xd).
It feels a little punishing, missing an orb means around 30 seconds of delay. Maybe having all orbs up from start could help the feeling of punishment. In general I like the mechanic and it can be expanded with different tracks or more movement options like a hook to get back if you fall off track or for momentum.
I like this gane idea, that was really fun. Would be cool if it had more levels. Overall nice work! :D
Its a cool concept. It just really gets boring after a while with no music or obstacles or any way to speed up if you missed a piece of data. The controls being hidden behind story was very confusing and it took me a while to get the mechanics without them being more obviously shoved into my face. The game still fun and very intricate though. It was just gets a little barren once youre halfway through.
quite a unique concept, a liked this mix between 2D and 3D gameplay. With a little sound design and music it would be so satisfying !
Nice work with the camera, most jam games don't do much with it, but having it chase and maintain that sort of angle with the player makes it feel quite dynamic.
I think some sort of boost mechanic would go a long way, letting the player decide whether to use it on upwards slopes, or right after they die. Any sort of thing to give the player something to actively focus on doing until they get close to the pickups.
Also neat aesthetic, the blue electrical paths against the purple background looks nice.
Dynamic camera movement definitely added to that feeling of riding a rollercoaster. It was unclear to me if squatting down made me go faster down hills (it felt like it did). I thought I would be locked to the track and have to time my jumps to collect orbs, but was surprised when jumping actually launched me into the cybersphere. Not sure I'm a fan of that since the character is 2d and the track is essentially a 2D line through space. That being said, the visual vibe of the game is great, love the color palette. I do think some sort of grind feedback (Kirby Allstars sparks) would go a long way to make line surfing feel awesome. Felt like jumping and timing the landing would be a fun way to increase speed. The lightning shader was rad, good job!
I would have liked to know which keys do what.
