I grew a BUNCH of carrots, and imagine my surprise when a tomato sprouted up! I think you're right that all the bones are there to make a cool game. Where you got to is still really impressive for tinkering with a new-to-you language during the jam. Nice work!
A simple game with a taste...with a carrot taste :)
10/10, would grow carrots built in Odin-lang again, kudos on building this in a non-game framework that you had no foreknowledge of before starting, that's really crazy actually
Woah, that was super interesting!!! I see what you mean with it not being complete, but I would love to see more of something like this! Cellular automata are cool :)
Unfortunately, I couldn't play your game. Maybe consider people on platforms other than Windows
Hey @blazerker I'm sorry you couldn't play it. I provided both win x64 and Linux x64 binary as those are the platforms I have. If you tell me the platform you are on I can work on getting an executable for you.
Interesting idea you have going here. Always fun to experiment with a new language.

An interesting concept, I can see the potential! Love messing with non-engines for games.
Side note, it appears to crash if you "scythe" too many crops too quickly. I just planted a big field and starting scything and the game crashes after a little while of scything.
You're right @sirplop! Thank you for letting me know. I'll update the build for the next person. thank again for checking it out!

Fun concept! I really like the little animation when the plants pop up.
Looks similar to plant growing mechanics in A.D.O.M. https://ancardia.fandom.com/wiki/Herbs#Lifecycle
Would be interesting to expand/explore it more indepth.

Nice twist on a classic.
@baturinsky I dig that. I'm going to check it out. Sim games are my jam. Thank you for the tip.
Linux build crashed when I was trying to fill all the map with seeds :') xD I am not sure about the "different" patterns because I kept getting carrots all the time but it was nice to play around a bit :-)
@island-jam-2-group-3 Thank you for playing the game. Ya know I'm surprised I did not run into this. Thank you for the heads up. I'll get a fix out. I hesitate to add more until the judging time is over. It is somewhat relaxing to just place things and see them "bump" but there is not much more beyond that except a Tomato pattern. Thank you again for the feedback.
