Good for learning english, feels like a dictionary
I like the color palette, gives off a really chill vibe. The premise is also really original, love to see a future version that’s more fleshed out!
That poltergeist is SLIPPERY! Barely got a few hits in before it disappeared each time I found it. Really love the art style, good job for a solo project even if you did run out of time
The game is very pretty. The core mechanic is interesting too.
I think it's also very hard since the poltergeist keeps escaping from me :P. Also the dialog boxes are a bit clunky, sometimes I couldn't get them to stop appearing and stopping my movement.
The vibe is very chill and the repeating audio creates a spooky vibe. Cool submission!
I totally love the color palette and the graphics! It was a bit buggy because I had the same text 3 times in a row, but I'm staying tuned to play the following versions!
The art style is brilliant
I really like the art. Everything looks really nice and a solid mood was established. I had a lot of trouble interacting with things - I had to sort of.. move away while pressing input to not get stuck. The concept is neat. I think the combat could use a bit of work to make it more interesting. Maybe if there was.. a minigame for dealing damage rather than just choosing attack options?
Good graphic style, simple but effective! The music fits the atmosphere very well, but I think a slightly longer loop would be better. For the gameplay itself, it's a good idea (even if the ghost is worse than a bar of soap ;) ). Perhaps in future versions, a small hint could be added to the "haunted" piece of furniture? Without it being too obvious, just a tiny change in color or shape, so that people who have been through the room 4 or 5 times can "feel" the ghost as they gain experience (like a "true" ghost hunter ;))
But in any case, well done!
Cool idea! I found it a little hard to understand where the poltergeist is, but that might be by design. I ran into a bug where the dialog window kept opening every time until I faced the other direction but okay. I think it would be better if movement was on a grid instead of the current version. Since you already have cells in the room design, it would make navigation a bit easier.
I also think combat could be a little deeper -right now, you can just press attack a few times and win but for a jam, it’s okay.
Overall, very cool design and idea!
Very cute graphics, the game is made with really fun vibe! Unfortunately, a bunch of small bugs made it a bit difficult to play. Anyweay, good job!
I really liked the music and the visuals, they create a really good mood. I also loved the perspective with all the 4 walls on the side of the rooms, that feels so original and cool. Altough I liked the exorcizing concept, I found it quite hard to get into the game. The movement feels kinda stuttery and the main "fighting" mechanic feels a bit shallow and also hard to understand (or maybe I didn't get it right :( ). However, I really liked the concept and the whole looks and feel of it, so that did it for me and I believe in future polishing! Thank you!
Fantastic!.
Really liked these cute graphics and atmosphere of the game! Too bad you didn't had enough time to flesh out the gameplay, but I managed to beat the poltergeis anyways
Hey everyone, thank you all so much for playing the game and I'm glad people like the concept as much as I do, I'll absolutely keep working on the game after the jam, hope everyone keeps an eye out for that ^^
And I'm happy to say that I fixed the dialog box that was bugging me (and everyone else), I know it's like last minute, but I actually got caught in another game jam in the last weeks
Thanks for this nice little game! I especially like the consistent artstyle and mood, the color palette and the character design. I had the misunderstanding at the beginning that it was several different ghosts and not one that keeps changing its hiding place. It's a great little POC of the core mechanics! Well done! I scared the ghost away successfully... do I get a raise? :D
Spooky! I think you're underselling your art, I like it! :) Just needed some animations. I see you opted out of audio since it's not your music but it was a good choice.
There was a good, creepy atmosphere. The uncertainty of not knowing where the next encounter might be built up some tension. I think unfortunately it got replaced quickly by weariness from having to keep going back and forth. Sometimes the poltergeist would appear but go away before I even saw the graphic.
I'm not sure but it also seemed to be gaining some health back over time? Might've been a visual bug because suddenly the game said "the poltergeist is gone" and I was able to walk out the last door even tho it was only down to 6/10 HP.
I liked the art that went with all of the encounters. Very Earthbound. I hope I didn't miss any of them, as I never got the bed for example, but maybe that wasn't a possible encounter.
I ran into a bug where the interaction dialogue box wouldn't work. It happened often when I went between doors. Luckily I was able to fix it every time by trying to exit the last door and getting the message about not being allowed to.
The character hitbox seemed a bit big. Sometimes I got stuck because I was too close to something even tho the sprite definitely had enough room to pass. I also kept accidentally entering doors when trying to interact with things near them (trashcan, chair, etc.) so that was very finicky.
You ran out of time but still you managed to put it all together with a start and an end, so it feels complete even if it's short. Pretty cool! :)
Nice little game. May be programmer art, but I thought the art style was cute. Audio was very atmospheric, really suited the ghost hunt theme. Good foundation for a game here, well done!
