Really Cool game GJ !
Interesting take on tower defense. Is moving with WASD in micro mode should be so slow, or am I doing it wrong?
It's a cool game and a very interesting idea, I liked it)
@ein Thanks for the comment! The microscope movement should be done in the lab view (it is specified in the tutorial), in the microscope view only minor adjustments can be made. Perhaps it should be disabled altogether in the other view to make it clearer.
On my computer the text and some of the buttons were cut off which was a bit annoying.
Nice entry. I liked the zoom in, zoom out gameplay. Quite easy though. Just buy lasers and keep shooting, other options didn't seem to be worth their cost.
Interesting concept! I really enjoy tower defense games, and this one stands out as unique.
One thing I wasn’t entirely sure about was the decision to separate purchasing and battling into two different screens. It might make the game feel more dynamic if everything happened on a single screen.
Additionally, it would be great to have the option to keep a previous item after purchasing a new one, allowing players to use both without losing the other.
Nice game. It's was chill and I really appreciate playing it
Very charming game. Sometimes rng can end your run if the enemies spawn right on your homie
Enjoyable game - Nice art style and concept.
Very addictive. It's a pity that when you buy it, the previous arsenal disappears. But overall the game is good, you can kill both germs and time.
This was a fun game! I enjoyed shooting the baddies. I wish I had a way to move my xema, but it being stationary makes sense given the defense aspect. I'd love to see all the little guys wiggle!
Nice entry!
Tutorial Text is hard to read .
I like this interpretation of the theme, and the concept is solid. The gameplay needs some polish: - As your Xema seems to just teleport randomly from time to time, you can be killed by a random chance (if it teleports in a poor spot). That does not feel good. - Same with the enemies. They can randomly appear literally on top of you. - I bought walls and the liquid in one go. And that made me just loose the walls I bought fist. In other words, you can only buy one type of upgrade at the time. If you buy two different types, the second one does not just go "on top" of the previous one, but erases it. - I understand the concept of only moving the microscope in the lab mode, and it makes logical sense, however, it feels strange in the actual gameplay. At least to me. You really want to move the microscope while inside it - so I kept trying to do that by reflex
I liked the audio - the music fits perfectly, the 2d art is just adorable, and the combination of a 3d lab world and the 2d microscope world is compelling.
Didn't understand if there was an end state or if you could keep buying Xemas indefinitely, but I got 3 of them and everything remained the same :P Unlike others have said, I think the strongest aspect of the game is the change between the two views, as it provides a very real kinesthetic feel once you get the hang of it, although I can understand that the first impulse is to move the microscope while in that view, since that is what one would do in a real microscope hehe Balancing could have used a bit more work, as I found myself just killing Xoxos until I could buy a new Xema, and then repeat, or actually, just saving a ton of money by protecting a singular Xema and then buying a couple of them at once. Other that that, I think there is a nice idea here!
the music is really relaxing and the art assets look great, reminds me of that Theme Hospital 3D-like aesthetic. I wish I could understand the game better though, I found the UI a bit confusing and cluttered, would appreciate a more in-depth tutorial
First of all, great job giving out so many more ratings than you've received! You really deserve more ratings in return.
As for the game itself, I agree with the other reviews in that, while the mechanics do make the game more challenging and engaging (the Xemas and Xoxo spawners teleporting means you can't just surround them with walls; having to zoom out and back in when you want to buy things makes it more of a race against time; and so on), but they can also make it feel more clunky. Accumulating money felt very slow as I kept having to spent it to buy the Xoxo-killing liquid, and before long one of the Xoxo spawners teleported to be right next to my Xema which left me helpless to save it.
I'd also like to note that the "Back" button in the tutorial page is partially off the bottom of the screen, and when you're playing minimized, some of the text is off the sides of the screen as well. It's just a little thing that needs tidying up to make the game look nicer, especially when the tutorial button has "(PLEASE READ)" written on it in big capital letters.
It's not all bad, though: the graphics are great, the music gives it a much more relaxing vibe than I'd been expecting, and there's definitely some good ideas for gameplay here, they're just not all clicking together quite yet. I hope you continue working on this and refining it!
@f1krazy thanks for your comments! I think is the most complete and usefull review I have seen in any game comment. I agree with everything, most of the problems come from our own time limitation, but we wanted to finish and present a playable game using the concept of move and manage the inventory in one screen and "play" in other (because of the tiny size of the creatures). Once tested, we are not even sure that if even fixing all the issues the concept would work (maybe more mechanics would be needed) but we had fun trying it! :)
