That is a very interesting take on the theme - i also read the wikipedia article as i didnt knew what this was before :) It has this calming feeling when you see when its generating. Very nice made.

A really interesting entry!

I'm impressed that you actually made a game there on that beautiful island!

Some feedback: - I like how the game can be manipulated mid-similation. - Drawing the dead cells is a clever deviation from the normal game of life - Somehow my numpad did not work, I thought. But turns out it only works when the screen is cleared. - I love how you titled the inbuilt pattens! Makes it feel like art. Did you create those yourself?

@wouter52 thanks everyone for your first feedbacks. Yes - I made these patterns by myself. There is no other project which explores this main idea (I guess). And Yes - you have to clear the screen if you want to compute another pattern. Everything can be improved in this simulation ++

I had fun trying to draw patterns and rediscover the general feel of the game of life. There is something inherently enjoyable about pressing a few buttons and witnessing the consequences in the chain reaction produced.

I've always wanted to make a cellular automata game so this is very interesting to see you experiment with this idea as well. Do you think this could be turned into a more classical puzzle game? Is it something you'd like to try eventually? To me Noita is a bit of a proof that it could serve as a mechanic for pretty much any game.

Nice work and I hope you enjoyed your holidays!

It is an interesting idea. Got alot of cool shapes, it was like generating a random map. It was more fun than alot of jam games out there I'll give you that lmao.

I have a special affection for GoL, which is more or less my first encounter with light life sim, and the first I played-prog with (on my first computer, a old CPC6128 - 'am so ooold), testing some stuff with it for hours (immortal cells, torus worlds, etc. even a version with sort of DNA and reproduction cycle). For me, GoL is one of (if not the) first game that offers the possibility to contemplative gaming, and in this version, you took it to another level in this direction, that I can't help loving just for that. Well done, and thank you for having made me travel back in my time line!

I really like Game of Life :) Nice implementation of it! It always surprises me that oscillators and gliders and just appear out of this chaos.

Jouer au jeu de la vie est toujours passionnant, expérimenter et créer des formes ou des vaisseaux est toujours aussi hypnotique. C'est très succinct mais ça fonctionne terriblement bien, bravo pour cette entrée ! Good job !

Très sympa, c'est simple ça marche bien, même si c'est plus une simulation qu'un jeu. Une suggestion ça pourrait être de pouvoir changer les couleurs aussi ? mais bien joué c'est très cool comme jeu !

Nice idea! Really love when I see game of life interpretations in games/jams.

Thanks for the submission

intrestring, thanks for your interpretation ^^

Really creative idea and approach to the theme! The simulation is great and has all the controls for it to be fun and play around for a while.

Nice entry!
