Fun concept! Because most of the interesting stuff (ie story) seems to happen in the "replies" after I select an answer, I would have liked text to be faster to display or have a button to display the whole thing without skipping, which is what I accidentally did a couple of times.

Neat worldbuilding, I hope you expand on this world in the future. The text scroll after the answers was really slow

phobos001 2024-04-15 16:22

@theyflower @myse Thank you for your feedback! Since the Jam has not ended, I have updated the game to have faster text. I originally kept the text slow because the key sounds would overlap loudly, but I made it so it only plays a sound every other visible character.

I will expand on this world! It's something I've been thinking about for a long time, and I'm very excited to share it

O m g, this is just an amazing world building game. Sadly enough we don't get "You passed, welcome to the South city!" or "Sorry, you were rejected". I did not get some of the stuff, but it was still a very nice read/game! Though I think the sound of "typing" is way too loud, especially if you compare it to the music. I was playing on 2/100 sound and it was still quite loud.

Nice art and the music contributes to the vibe super well! Would love to see the full world^^ Agree with above on a bit sad that we didn't get an actual assessment result TvT

Hats off to you! You did a fantastic job, especially since you had to restart a few times!

Interesting entry! It's amazing how much worldbuilding you've managed to put into it! And the world seems really interesting, a nice mix of scifi, fantasy and horror (among other things! :D) put together with some thought, so it doesn't feel disjointed.

Others have already mentioned it would be great to get a final score or even the result of the exam, and I agree. I've played through it twice and was a little bit disappointed I didn't get anything "special" for completing the second attempt with 100% correct answers :(. Thankfully the game has impressive amount of story, so it didn't feel too bad for the lack of an ending. Also, if you'd have a final result, I thought it might be a good place to put some more lore behind different game endings, based on how well you did. It would also be a nice reason for players to replay through the game. Maybe another thing to add some replayability would be to modify the responses you get based on which answer you select. There's definitely a lot of ways to expand on it, you can tell the game made me excited enough since I'm sitting here, thinking about possible continuations, instead of fixing my game's bugs. :D

A very cool, immersive concept. I like the first change of feeling as a player at the beginning of the game, when you understand more and more through the questions what world you're in. GG ! :)

stmate03 2024-04-17 15:37

An interesting entry, mostly focuses on entailing a world through carefully assessed questions, it's a simple little game anybody can pick up and can get immersed in quickly!

wolfier 2024-04-17 19:20

That was interesting. I do wish the questions didn't feel so random. But being a dare game, what can you do.

javid-ladhani 2024-04-17 19:37

Great entry. Getting to know the world story by answering ridiculous questions. Good job!

konstantinreed 2024-04-17 19:46

By some unfathomable means, I guessed some of the answers. I've always been impressed by the ability to create a world, its rules, and peculiarities. Looking forward to the ending. Good job!

parker8283 2024-04-18 00:41

The way the lore is presented is interesting. I started by answering how I would answer in real life, but then I started trying to answer the way I thought the game wanted me to answer. But then that was also somehow wrong! Standardized tests are weird like that... Thanks for participating!

donamougou 2024-04-18 02:25

Very interesting submission! The lore-sharing format is a good idea, but as mentioned by others, I was hoping for a conclusion or an event at the end of the evaluation period. Daring idea, well executed ! Well done !

Whelp. I will die in the wilderness. Also, as I found this by following your comment on my post about low-resource Linux/HTML games for my ancient laptop I am happy to report that the game ran (mostly) flawlessly, I think.

There was some distortion in the audio, but that could have just as well been intentionally there to match the mood.

phobos001 2024-04-18 03:03

@epb9000 I've noticed that same issue on my machine. It's this sort of stuttery effect right? That's not intentional, I can't figure out what's causing it either. It FEELS like the audio buffer is underfed but that doesn't make sense. I was able to fix it on my end by restarting my system. Very strange, but I'm very happy you were able to enjoy my game! :v:

epb9000 2024-04-18 03:45

@phobos001 That is exactly the sound. I suspect it is something similar. Playing natively the issue did not reproduce. In my case perhaps lag from going through WebGL?
