This is so simple yet so entertaining! Love the spooky lady at the beginning. The art is very effective and the gameplay is smooth <3 very nice job.

I like the art style and the gameplay is easy to learn.

It's good! Just a bit short. At first I thought maybe it was a bit too easy but then it kept ramping up and it would've definitely been fun to see some more evolution of the concept, which is a cool one! By the end it was basically all peripheral vision and trying to react to a glimpse of green as I just couldn't keep track. Maybe a sound cue for collisions would've been good. I like the simplicity and it looks and sounds nice, fits the computer vibes. C:

Concept is interesting, but using only one button to manage the gameplay seems to be a timing game rather than a "puzzle" game.

Still, for a jam it is really cool

Good simple game

This is a really neat little puzzle game. I loved the overall lo-fi/techy style to it all - the sound and graphical effects really added to it. I liked needing to have quick reaction times but I do feel like the last level kind of just ramped up the difficulty a lot, imo the previous levels could've been a bit harder. Great work!

Everything here is so so good. The entire game feels cohesive, I love the low level tech theme, and it is simple enough that it is almost instant how long it takes to learn how to play. I ran into a small issue in the beginning where I wasnt sure what button to press to actually play the game because everywhere it says that it is single input, but doesnt say what that input is. Otherwise I think this is a really cool concept and can easily be very expanded upon

@daniel-boghossian Thanks, definitely was tempted to add a lot more levels, but we had to get things done before the end of Saturday that weekend, so we tied it up nice pretty early on.

Awesome aesthetics on this one! I enjoyed the sounds and the little info arrows on files providing funny details looking real polished. Having all the levels laid out and the game panning between them was pretty cool too.

I suggest saying on the page (or better yet inside the game) what the single button for control is or letting the player use multiple buttons (or even any) to control the game (space was my first try, clicking second, arrows/wasd third, enter only came after sweeping the keyboard :p).

To easily add a bit of replay value you could accumulate the remaining time on each finished level and use that as a score at the end.

As of later updates, more types of files and deleters would be cool. You already have ones with different speed, maybe some could only be deleted by deleters with admin priviliges like system files? Or have files that shouldn't be deleted (like system files ahah) go around the level too as a distraction/avoidable item, which would crash the level if deleted. How about some that needs to be deleted ASAP like malware which would force you to priortize those before the rest.

Anyhow, great little game, thanks for making it!

@unless-games Nice ideas! It definitely feels to us like there's a lot of room to play with the design and expand it in neat ways.

aweskybear 2023-10-20 17:20

Neat reflexes and patience tester : ). One comment only - just as the fellow above me said - it took me some time until I realized I need to mouse-click in the right time and place. I tried very hard to use the keyboard and wasn't sure if it's working :D

Very cohesive aesthetics!

lincolnsalles 2023-10-20 17:27

Simplicity is everything. I loved the sounds more than anything else, although I also liked the abstract look. I didn't really like the gameplay, because I don't think it's sustainable in the long term, but it's very different and innovative, but also very simple.

baturinsky 2023-10-20 19:18

I have absolutely no idea what am I supposed to do. Clicked mouse and buttons - no effect.

cam-moore 2023-10-20 19:31

Unique to the playing field of this jam. At first I was a little confused but then I realized its about timing and clicking to make the perfect fit! Good work.

ryusui 2023-10-20 19:52

Love the concept and aesthetics! (I refreshed a couple times before I started, though, because I thought the evil anime face at the start was supposed to be speaking and I assumed I had the volume turned down too far. XD) My favorite puzzle was "Timing is Everything", where you had to wait a couple cycles for the three files to line up with the drives(?). My only gripe is that it feels like there's a slight input delay - like I have to hit the button multiple times to make absolutely sure I've captured everything that's lit up green. (Relatedly: I love how you made this work with a single-button control scheme!)

nathan-franck 2023-10-20 23:32

@ryusui Yeah! Definitely fell short on time for sound and music, which would have been welcome the intro sequence. Yeah I could have taken more time to engineer the timing so the timing windows were totally in-sync for all files, so players don't end up with near-perfects that just hit the edge of the window and miss some. I wonder if the web build adds latency 🤔
