Transferring files between servers was surprisingly relaxing! Really lulled me into a sense of security right before things started getting out of hand. I'm a big fan of the graphics as well, although I think the head-bobbing was a bit too much for my taste. Overall good stuff!

2023-10-03 15:11

This is the best one yet. Good stuff

2023-10-03 15:49

It's a good game I give it a 5/5

2023-10-03 17:23

Can't wait for Ben The Binder 2: Electric Beneloo

kewdev 2023-10-03 19:17

@shiba-pixels Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it and that the atmosphere did its job! I have to agree with you on the headbobbing part, looking back I could've decreased the bobbing intensity.

@horger Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

@kewinfanbruh Thank you!

@csubazurmedve It's on its way! :praisethelord:

don-fouts 2023-10-03 19:23

I love the artwork on this! Love the idea of this and like how it was fit into the theme. Great work and congrats on the entry.

janinna21 2023-10-03 19:32

This game look good 🌟 Although the space gave me a bit of a cozy, claustrophobic vibe, I couldn't help but adore those cat photos 🐱

nirlandec 2023-10-03 19:33

During the whole run I was frustrated by the game it got me scared for reason XD. I enjoy it though still playing XD

daniilprasolov 2023-10-03 19:40

Atmospheric game with great nostalgic graphics! Well done

delauraen 2023-10-03 19:51

Love the graphics and the atmosphere, nailed the retro look. Fun and interesting concept! Overall was fun to play and kinda hope to see more on this!

Might have been nice to add a tooltip or hightlight around interactables - I can see some people not familiar with floppy discs not realize where to 'use' it 😂

ethan-g 2023-10-04 01:36

Really wonderful graphics and sound design! Overall atmosphere was brilliant, I found the file transferring far too slow and the head bobbing kind of nauseating but other than that it was good. nice one!

2023-10-04 08:24

I enjoyed testing it, you guys nailed the atmosphere. Head bobbing wasn't a big issue for me, though it could use some lowering.

Hail Clippy

I've already copied the exploit_fixer.exe file to server 5, but the server diagnostic still says that the bug_cacher.exe and exploit_fixer.exe files are missing on server 5. The game controls are not to my liking. The mouse sensitivity is very low; I have to drag the mouse across the desk four times just to turn the character around. It's not clear which buttons control the game. It took me a long time to exit full-screen mode; there's no menu, it doesn't respond to escape, and there's no menu. The camera shake makes me feel sick, but this probably doesn't bother most people. The idea is brilliant, very creative. Overall, I like the concept, but due to the above reasons, I did not enjoy the game. After some polishing, this could be an enjoyable game. I hope you continue the development of the project!

oznarox 2023-10-04 10:02

This is a good idea, but the controls aren't perfect. Keep up the good work.

kewdev 2023-10-04 10:37

@don-fouts Thanks so much!

@janinna21 Thanks! The cat appreciates your feedback as well!

@nirlandec Thanks for playing! We're glad the atmosphere worked so well!

@daniilprasolov Thank you!

@delauraen Thank you! We actually never even though of that haha. Might add that in a post-jam version!

@ethan-g Thanks for the feedback! We're going to take this into account in the post-jam version!

@uncleb Thank you so much for all your hard work! HAIL CLIPPY!

@xefande Sorry to hear you ran into so many issues! There is a post-jam version coming which addresses the aforementioned issues to hopefully bring the game into a state that is more to your liking! Thank you for the extensive feedback!

@oznarox Thanks for playing and the feedback! Controls are definitely a bit finnicky, will look into it in the post-jam version!

petr-vejchoda 2023-10-04 17:07

Like I was legit claustrophobic. I felt the limited space. The theme and the mood 5/5 for mood, sound and theme without hesitation. It all worked together perfectly. But ...

Spolier alert:

I hoped for a little more in the gameplay loop - maybe a little detective work among the servers, maybe copying some diagnostic tools and using them, instead of plain copying. I couldn't assign full score on the rest.

Still probably the best entry I had played so far.

scrapmetal 2023-10-04 17:24

WOW..... the vibe on this one is SO good.... I love the dim lit pixel art look with the immersive audio. I was hooked immediately.

Love the take on the theme too! I had multiple times I hit max space on that stupid floppy disk

I will say, it got a bit grindy for me near the middle.... but I was so in it, I felt compelled to keep going and finish. I loved the premise and setting. I think at the start, I had expected there to be more messing with files on other servers etc. I realize that's probably way out of the scope of the jam... and so for how complete this is, it's just awesome.

Part of me wants to replay and deliberately do badly. I was so on top of getting rid of viruses... I'm curious what happens. There was such nice build up and anticipation with the clippy thing.. I love it, but when I did well, it didn't have much of a pay off. Just the audio alone made me jump a couple times. But I thought maybe there would be more of a tease or something happening.

The biggest thing I would tweak is the camera bob. I actually felt motion sick and have a headache now. :grimacing: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I think it's the back and forth rotation on Z... seeing your horizon line bob like that will make anyone motion sick over time. I like the bob... but maybe get rid of that rotation? Especially with how much walking you do.

This is such a killer entry. Nice work!!

kewdev 2023-10-04 18:57

@petr-vejchoda Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it! We kind of ran out of time to make more of the gameplay, we should've focused on a simpler system than a custom file explorer haha, thanks for the feedback!

@scrapmetal Oof! Sorry for the headache mate! That was definitely not our intention. Thanks for the extensive feedback though! We're on our way to make a separate post-jam version and in that I have decreased the head-bobbing to the absolute bare minimum since so many people said the bobbing was a bit much. Sorry about it, but we're glad that other than that you had a good time!

jordan-neff 2023-10-04 23:48

Loved the atmosphere, visual style, and creative take on the theme! File transfers felt a bit too slow for my liking (felt more like downloading images in the 90s than transferring files lol). Jump scare was great, although it was a little frustrating trying to say yes to Ben and being forced to say no for the sake of narrative. I think I encountered a game breaking bug though :( I kept transferring the files it said to the server and after the third time I started getting a virus it deleted the threats but about a minute later it just randomly said retry or quit and I was forced back to the menu. Overall great entry though!

kewdev 2023-10-05 00:17

@jordan-neff Thanks for playing! Glad you liked the atmosphere! Looking back I have to agree we should've made the transfers a bit quicker haha. Being forced to say no is definitely a bug as you should've been able to just continue with yes afterwards, and yeah there is an issue with the game over screen as the jumpscare animation doesn't remove the UI elements the player is in, so it just gets hidden by the computer screens. Some amateur mistakes slipped in. We're planning on releasing a separate post-jam version with bug-fixes and QOL improvements. It should come out tomorrow! Thank you for the feedback!

mitch-miller 2023-10-05 23:24

Nice atmosphere and interesting take on the theme, but the repetitive over and back, and the fact I kept forgetting the damn floppy disk made it a little tiresome quickly...

minjutin 2023-10-06 10:32

It has certainly a horrifying atmosphere, being stuck in that crappy server room. Seeing ben so sad made me to regret my life choices. Oh ben, don't cry, you can help me all you want

iron-head 2023-10-08 12:38

Who would want to play a _Waiting Simulator_? And while you're waiting, you know you have to walk through that unnecessarily spooky server room again. I _lost_ the first time, because the game doesn't let you click _YES_ after you chose _NO_. Then I just got bored from walking and downloading. In the end I believe I just don't get it. Maybe this boring feeling is what you were going for, but for me it seems like an unfortunate choice.

kewdev 2023-10-08 23:55

@mitch-miller Thanks for playing! Yeah we wanted to add something signaling that the computer has a floppy inside to sort of tell the player that they still have it in the computers but since it wasn't our main focus we didn't have time to add it. Glad you enjoyed the atmosphere though!

@minjutin Thanks for playing! We wanted to make sure the player will be discouraged as much as possible from saying no to ben.

@iron-head We're sorry to hear that you didn't have an enjoyable experience. The YES / NO issue is a known bug that has been fixed in the post-jam version, but since we can't modify the jam version it just stood its place in the game.

2023-10-12 18:36

It was a very interesting and a little bit scary game. Why we are there? What is in there? And why is a paperclip is our enemy xD? I liked it. It has its own feeling, and its unique. I liked it.:)

kewdev 2023-10-13 01:26

@gedvagenyo Thanks for playing! Well we were there because we had to fix the servers :D. Ben was our enemy because he got angry, because you told him that you don't need his help.

shigor 2023-10-14 17:55

The visuals and mood are perfect, but gameplay wise... dunno. I almost gave up several times out of boredom walking around and copying files. The moment when I had also start the antivirus seemed like there might be something happening, but I just copied remaining files like a good company drone and safely escaped... I've bookmarked it for later in case I'll give it another try and break something (thought I'm not sure what I could do except delete files randomly or don't run virus scanner).

holysparks 2023-10-17 21:02

Just incredible use of graphics and mood.

le-don 2023-10-18 20:45

Great game! I like the art style a lot and the concept is amazing. For my personal liking, I felt the game was a bit long and the tasks got a bit too repetitive. It also seems strange how I had to go to the same servers multiple times, instead of the tool telling me about all the missing files in the first place and the light switch didn't seem to do anything. But again, overall I thought this is great!
