Your link goes to an Itch 404 for me :(

Ohhh, I forgot to make it public. It should work now. Thanks, @real-human-1000!

Really captures the style, had fun trying it out

joe-cowman 2023-05-01 06:15

Awesome game! You really captured the style of the classic Oregon Trail quite well. (I chuckled at your comment in the description about the square-wave music, it was a bit gnarly haha)

I love this! Really well done and very challenging!

triangle-point 2023-05-03 01:37

Love this, its like the perfect cross between Oregon Trail and Deltarune! So much fun!

I loved the gameplay and the retro aesthetics, especially the pixelart was really really good! I will say, the truck drive sound was reeeaalllly repetitive and hard to listen to, I had to mute the game after a while. Nevertheless, great job!

Quite a fun game, and I quite like the art style. Your description of the player character was also quite apt (;

Super polished game!. 20 years of jams really shows. I laughed at the silly names of the gangs. I cant believe im saying this, but I probably should have gambled more at the camps since I ran out of money pretty fast lol.

✔️ Nice mood / aesthetic: adds a creepy vibe (and nice homage to Oregon Trail)

✔️ The game was the right level of difficulty. It was hard, but that's what you would expect from an Oregon Trail style game. This difficulty led to many interesting decisions during gameplay - it felt like my choices really mattered.

➖ The game froze after I tried ignoring the hitch hiker. I was right near the end which was kind of annoying :(

⭐ Overall: Great homage to Oregon Trail!

I enjoyed the mood of this one... hated that I forgot to buy fuel. One thing I noticed when I was attacked ... my browser follow the up/down keys... which took a little out of that encounter. Aside from that .. good entry :thumbsup_tone1:

frosty 2023-05-05 18:21

@purpledartfrog Thanks for the heads up. What browser are you using?

purpledartfrog 2023-05-05 18:25

@frosty that would be the newest chrome... but I think it might come down to an issue with the resolution. You be able to tell which resolution it was from the screenshot... mine says 1132x703 on the file... so I think that would be relatively close to the correct one.

Thanks @purpledartfrog and @rngames, both bugs should be fixed now.

asmadigames 2023-05-10 06:10

We made it! What an important delivery.

Really fun game, good writing and mood, and it runs perfectly smoothly. If anything, maybe more diversity in encounters could be a plus to shake things up a bit.

d3kryption 2023-05-10 06:11

Its so hard to not get annoyed at some of the choices :joy: nothing to do with you! I mean like I went to visit the doctor and he botched the operation :joy: like dude!! :joy:

but I had a lot of fun playing it! Really retro style.

I think there is a bug if you choose "give them a friendly honk" as they never came? :( Had to restart

but I had a lot of fun playing it! Nice job :D

Really impressed by how authentic and complete this little homage feels. And love all the funny touches - like the biker gang names. Great fun and a great entry! An inspiration to keep jammin' for life

eharp 2023-05-10 19:35

Really nice concept and homage. Initially I felt like it was a bit easier than I expected given the reference to the original but then it ramped up. Great reto feel and style!
