Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD53 → Baby Bots

Nice idea, but babies is to small, to understand who is who, or may be its problem with camera, and after few minutes the music start lag
Thanks for the heads up! I will make the babies bigger and will look into the background music
The idea is nice, i made 225 points. The baby draw is a little confusing some times, i'm not sure where to put. and sometimes i'm just not sure if i'm holding a baby or not.
@sevla Yea that was one of the main issues with it, I tried making an inventory system to show what baby you had but with my lack of experience using Godot I wasn't able to figure it out in time.
do I have to install something related to Godot? could you give me some instructions?
@alexsandro don't need to install nothing related to godot, but can't play through the itch.io page. You can download the BabyBots.zip and then just click the exe file (thats how i played)
I like the game maybe adding the baby above player could be a nice feature, its hard to tell you have a baby when you start playing the game
This was pretty good! Movement was smooth and I'm not sure if the audio was original but it fit really well. Only feedback is that it was a bit difficult to know when you've picked up a baby. Art style was also pretty great, the different baby faces were simple but effective.
I think i had way to much fun with this game haha. I loved the end screen when you lost. Would of been nice to have some sort of indicator of if you were holding a baby or something to show that you have delivered the baby other than the score going up.
But overall really cool game!
@cmdpancakes You are correct, the audio was off a royalty free website, since I have to experience in sound design the audio was lackluster and I resorted to getting that background sound so the game wasn't bland, I have the credits for the website I got the audio from at the bottom of the description, I also tried implementing a display system for the babies but had no luck with it, since I have only been using Godot for a week I am still very new
Great @sevla thanks!
Noooo I burned teh baby ><
I liked the mechanics of the machine malfunctioning, it was a surprising increase on the difficulty.
I don't understand why I lose my job after just one burned baby! I delivered so many more, it was just one tiny mistake :D. The main point of feedback for me, would be adding a marker if I'm currently carrying a baby, or not, as there is no feedback on picking it up and putting it down.
SO MANY BABIES!!! Could use some animation and feedback on the pick up and delivery - needs that extra oomf to make the objective satisfying. Maybe some camera shake and a visual cue at the location you deliver?
@forager Yea, I wanted to add animations but I am horrible at animating and was even struggling making the textures themselves, I'm not the best at making pixel art so it was really just a learning experience making the game, I am also made this game with only a week's worth of experience using Godot so I am not able to make very advanced things, thank you for the feedback!
I like the futuristic lore! The game is pretty fun.
I missed some feedback, and I recommend using the same size in pixel art, cause it was a bit disturbing. But overall it is great.
I recommend upscaling the icon so the pixel art isn't destroyed.
@obe-dot Yea I was trying to do that but I couldn't figure out how to, so I'm forced to leave it sadly
its ok
Nice spin in the jam theme. That said, being able to microwave the babies is an insta 10/10 Great work!!! 👍
Bummer, didn't work on macos :((
@rafagamedev Sorry for that, as a new developer I didn't know how to make it work for any other system except windows
I cant play it :C
Doesn't want to work in the browser for me Screenshot 2023-05-03 092622.jpg
Aww man, I'm getting a Godot warning too.
@rohanmoon @binroot Yea I've known about that error and am trying to fix it, a lot of others are having the same problem and can't find a solution to it, sorry for the inconvenience
This was a really great game all in all for your first ever game!
I think you did a really good job about breaking the monotony and upping the challenge at just the right time. I won't spend too much time on the baby indicator, since others have already covered it. But getting a little more feedback for when I dropped a baby off would be helpful. The score going up definitely helps, but when I'm focused on just getting babies out, having a little sound or flash on the baby drop off spot could have helped me know that I actually did drop off a baby.
Even though you said you weren't quite comfortable with your art, I can tell that you gave it a good effort. I appreciate that there were so many different kinds of babies. You really took the time to make the game interesting even if you were still learning the platform. Keep that quality, because it will only stand to serve you better as you grow in your confidence.
Keep it up!
I liked all the different baby sprites. Fun art. Ran into some audio issues down this line. Would be a good addition if new mechanics were introduced over time.
@nhcarter123 I am actually currently working on new things for the game! After game jam I will release the updated version of the game, I can't do it at this moment because I want to stay loyal to the 72 hour jam rules, but if you're interested it will be updated after the jam is over! I have already gotten the inventory system up and running!
@resacagames
Here's a little sneak peak of what I've made so far in the update, it won't release until jam is over

Not bad for the first game.
@congeesetador you can fix that error in the itch.io web player by enabling "SharedArrayBuffer support — (Experimental)" on the itch.io "Edit game" page.
great effort! Does the game have an end? I got 450 points and then got tired :D
would be cool to have a break from time to time.
keep making awesome games!
the link is not working
nice idea! you could add sfx for an indicator that the babies are put into the box, that would be good. i also took a while to figure out what was going on, you might want to add how to play it in your LD game description :) baby sprites and music are nice, good job!

Try to tick this box on the "Edit game" page on itch.io 2023-05-03_14-07.png
Great job for your first game jam! The mood is awesome! Some babies are a bit hard to differentiate but not big harm. Overall a great game!
@mitur @frnknstn @rohanmoon @binroot I have figured out how to get the WebGL to work on itch.io, although take into count the quit button in the menu will break because the game was meant to be played with the download link, hope you guys enjoy!
The game does load, but controls don't work :(
@mitur Are you using WASD? On my side its working but I'll look into it, I've never used this webgl thing so im really inexperienced
Yes I am using WASD :)
creepy babies
@whywhy Yea that will be in the updated version that'll release after the jam is over, I am currently working on revamping the entire game and adding a bunch of new mechanics to make it way more refined!
Pretty simple idea, and runs well for me. I like that the babies are pretty simple and all you have to go on is looks, lol. Would be nice to actually show the baby being carried by the robot and show them go into the bin.
This game is a real gift for all players who are looking for original and unusual ideas.
@georgy Thank you! I worked really hard on it to make it original, everyone was doing the classic bird delivering a baby and I wanted to spice things up!
pretty decent entry, I really like jam games that have simple and easy to understand mechanics, no wall of text of confusing controls, nicely done! I had fun
This game is alright. It's pretty boring and it doesn't really picks up on difficulty. Also, you can't tell what you are holding which is annoying.
By the way, why use the mouse button and the arrow keys at the same time ? You could just use arrow keys + spacebar or mouse alone.
I'll also add that, your preview to the update : it's going to be wild.
Really cool concept and good gameplay. The babies were coming out SO FAST I couldn't keep up, but maybe that's my lack of skills lol. I'd also love to see some audio for when you pick up and especially drop off a baby, cos I had to keep checking the score to see if I had dropped the baby successful. Awesome job overall!
@stingby12 Being 100% honest i didn't even make controls for arrow keys, the game was meant to be played with WASD and mouse click
@the-wondering-vagabond @georgy @0x-void-x0 @rjdrag @aushijo @pyspher9 @resacagames @forager @morepixels @cmdpancakes @fermingimpel @sevla
Just released an updated post jam version of the game in its current state if any of you are interested in playing, I have added quite a few things after learning how to use audio better I gave the game some more oomph. Keep your ratings towards the first version of the game as that is what was made in the jam time. Have fun!
Very nice update! It's actually better! Nice!
@congeesetador I know I say "Arrow keys" a lot when it comes to basic controls, even though there isn't.
Congratulations on your first game! It's very simple but works fine. I'm not sure what the machine overload or broken machine actually meant and I'm a bit curious lol I've played the jam version on itch.io without issues! Oh I see, you have the same link for both Jam and Post Jam, so I'm not sure anymore if I've played the Jam or Post Jam actually!
Maybe having some more types would have made it a bit more interesting without adding much complexity to the development.
As a side note, I've found a bit weird that, instead of move with WASD, you specified every directions ahah
Good job!
@toccio94 Thank you for the feedback! When it comes to the machine overloaded and broken, when it overloads the babies come out slightly faster than normal and a scientist goes over to try to fix the machine, because the machine started breaking so it spat out more babies, then while the scientist was fixing it he ended up breaking the machine because he wasn't really "fixing" it as you can see from his face. And when its broken the babies start popping out like crazy, if you aren't perfectly in sync with the babies you are perfectly fine but if u mess up you can easily be overwhelmed!
@toccio94 Also I'm not exactly sure what you meant by specifying every direction? The script I made was just looking for when you press WASD and the move you in the correct direction, I've seen other people say things about the controls which confuses me because they're made like every other game that uses WASD controls
@congeesetador about the controls, I just mean in the game description above, not in the game. In the description you specify “D to move right” which is a bit weird ahah I would just expect wasd to move
@toccio94 I see what you mean now! I mean you can never be too careful, someone may not know what wasd movements are, in fact when making this I showed it to my dad and he didn't know what wasd was so I made custom controls for an Xbox controller just so he could play the game
