Good game! Pretty fun idea and the humour - whilst crude - fits in with the styling. It'd be nice to have a little more urgency over the whole experience but in general very well put together!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD53 → Morse Messanger

I couldn't finish it (skill issue lol) but I got to the second part where you have to decode a message. Not sure how far in that is but was playing for a few minutes. I think it is good, neat concept. I think the writing was funny and It fits the theme in my opinion. I think it would have helped to change the timing on the dash, it was a bit long to hold and I accidentally dotted too many times.
Really cool little game, my main complaint would be having to restart the whole word is a shame. Might had been nice to create your own code to undo a letter.
The style gave my Inscryption vibes and I feel this would be a really cool game in that very moody dark style of Inscryption.
Awesome work !
@axh Thanks for playing! I thought about it wanted it to be "authentic" since you can't undo a letter in real morse code. Am super happy you said Inscryption vibes because it's one of my favourite games!
@emily-ttg Was thinking about it too! but was worried it would stress people out. I should have made a hard mode haha!
Very fun. The frustration of messing up the last letter and having to redo the word added a lot to the experience (and the play time) - I'm glad it was designed that way.
Interesting idea, good implementation but probably too hard. I've managed to decode "SOS" but the next message is something. Might be I am the only one who has troubles recognising the code but if I am not then there is a reson to think about it. If I understand correctly it just repeats letters of some word and it feels like missing one letter might make the word unrecognisable especially for non-native english speakers. Might it be better to make a special signal on the first letter of the word so the player could know where to start and could count written and unwritten letters? Overall as Swordfish said it might aswell be a skill issue but in that case I want a record to see what's next in the game! Wish you a good jam
Very cool game, but it seems to me that the dash delay needs to be made smaller and the spaces removed
Very cool game and a fun idea for this jam's theme! Learning morse code was always on my to-do list hehe
Pretty good game, I like the funky tunes and the beep boops. I got stuck but I just realized it was just my brain doing its thing. Mistook 0 for O.. But it was pretty cool doing the morse.
The current text animation makes it unreadable until it stops, so I would highly recommend revealing characters in their intended position. I believe there is a setting for that in Unity as well, though I can't recall it.
@coderaurus Great feedback about the text!
Nice game! I enjoyed the idea of morse code is pretty unique while still fitting the theme. I think voice acting could have been an awesome addition if you were thinking of improving on the game as I feel it would add to your aesthetic.
I really enjoyed the concept of the game :) would love to see it developed further! <3
Any chance of a WebGL or MacOS build? 🙏
Laughed out loud a couple of times, loved the window in the back. Unique take on the theme also. That last message took me longer that I'd like to admit
@wompus wow! I didn't expect you to complete the last one! It's usually too hard for people and they give up.
@alexander-tan Thanks! The puzzle part might scare some people off, but not me.
That was a surprisingly fun puzzle game! I imagine this isn't much of a game for someone who is already familiar with morse code, but it was a new experience for me. I actually managed to beat the game but I had a little trouble with the last one because I deciphered the message out of order, as in I didn't know which character started the message.
Really liked this game! It's a different approach on the theme and I personally really enjoy deciphering code. I don't really know all the morse code by heart, but this game was very fun and a nice way to teach people how to understand morse code, and that mistakes need to be evaded at any cost. People who write morse code fast must have trained a lot, because writing fast without mistakes was really hard.
The font is good but some text could me mistaken, like O with 0, and S with 5. Also, on the last promp I wrote the actual message first, rather than the answer needed, and laughed a lot with this.
Pretty nice submission!
Interesting game. Everything is pretty good! Really good job
A really cool concept! I've wanted to learn morse code for a while, so it was cool to jump in and start trying it out so quickly! As some others have said, messing up the last letter of a word because of the timings not being exact got a little frustrating. I kept ending up with "passwort", "passworwe" and such, where I just really, really wanted to be able to delete the last letter inputted... I appreciate you going for the realism approach, so maybe for the sequel you give the morse coder time travel powers for lore purposes. ;)
