I played for a few rounds. It is unclear to me whether I'm missing some element of strategy - if so, could you add it to the description for future players? Mostly, I'm using my population up until about 2 each round, to a maximum where I'm sure I'll probably beat the upcoming enemy ships.

Love the soundtrack. I don't seem to get far into the game though, the enemy is always outproducing me.

@ivorius I tried to finish this as much as possible, but couldn't really flesh it out the way I wanted. Currently balancing is non-existent, enemy will outnumber your ships. I don't know, unless you roll perfect rng.
Each population left in camps have a 50% chance of growing a new population, up to pop limit.
My strategy was taking everything from 3 sized camps, leaving 2-3 in 5 sized, 1-2 in 4 sized. So there is chance to grow, but leaving max population in a camp is counterproductive.
Initially I wanted to add efficiency mechanic (having spare admins & ai people), I had to drop it. I also wanted to add buildings to camps, also dropped it to be able to finish on time.

@muhuk OK, makes sense. I think I got about as far in the strategy as you did then. I liked the frantic sound feedback of the battles!

@vinzbad thanks. Soundtrack was done in 20-30 minutes, just before the deadline.

Interesting premise! I really like the concept, and the presentation is also very neat. Battles feel tense because you can't control anything, very tense. But sadly it just goes game over too quickly, the pacing is brutal.
I wish there was more! It's a very intriguing game :D
Nice idea! It's a shame you weren't able to flesh this out. It has a lot of potential.
A reference to what the ship costs would be helpful when harvesting, and it would be nice to have the option to skip the battles, as after a while it gets annoying to sit there and wait for it to play out.
Cool theme, I can picture this in a more complete setup being really cool, and the percentage based population harvesting was interesting, I can imagine that could be some unique choices forced if you need to try to pick the areas that are most likely to give you the resources you need. I totally get not being able to implement everything you wanted; I enjoyed fiddling with what's here though. The animation for combat is pretty effective at adding tension to a coin-flip mechanic, and the sounds work pretty well for it.

Thanks @justinmullin.

This was in my original plan but I dropped it. Not because of time constraints (I'm sure I could've done it) but because of political correctness reasons. For example some regions of world are rich in natural resources so it could make sense that people taken from the camp are utilized as labor in that region. But how do you explain people from a particular region are good resources for new AI nodes, because their average intelligence is higher? I'd rather avoid this mechanic altogether.
None of it made into the game but I did some world building on paper. If I make an _enhanced version_ I'll make sure to add that stuff in.

Cool concept here! Interesting game idea for a rogue AI to use humans with various skills to fight off an alien invasion. The battle system is neat and reminds me a bit of a turn-based CRPG where you can see the results of each consecutive action, and it'd be cool to see you expand more on that system later (maybe you can see the combat log and determine exactly which ship configuration is most effective against certain types of alien ships). Nice work getting your jam game done!

Interesting game, I couldn't go very far though. It's seems a bit unbalanced by the fact ai always grow in number and your ships doesnt repair if destroyed on fight so you cannot play more than 2-3min. I try numerous time and got bad RnG, couldnt beat 3 opponents wave. Beside that i really enjoyed the gameplay, the art and music are really good, nice take, I hope you will pass 20 ratings and have a good score!

Thanks @horda. If I get a decent score I will work on the shortcomings and release a post-jam version. It will be balanced too. I admit this version is impossible to win.
Ships getting repaired is a good idea. Another thing I didn't get to implement was having buildings. Perhaps if you build something like a shipyard you increase the chance of ships' survival
An interesting idea but I am not convinced.
It seriously need a tutorial or a small explanation.
I am also not a big fan of the combat, it is quite long and boring.
I think it would have been better to make a loading sequence with a little "fighting..." and then the result, it would have increased tension.
Nevertheless, congratulation on your entry, is is never easy to make a game ;)

Can't disagree with any of your points @mephistase.
This was my 1st compo, hopefully next one will suck less.
