What a charming game! One of the first things that stood out was the sound design. Having things make sounds that still harmonized with the current theme was excellent and totally immersive.

I loved the concept in general of a kind and humble entity just running around fixing things. I'm not entirely sure what it's supposed to be, but some of the icons led me to imagine it as a mitochondria just running around fixing cells.

Game was fun and it ended just as I felt like I was truly mastering the game. You did well with how few mechanical elements you put into the levels, more relying on the core mechanic and how the environmental objects interacted with the player. A very solid design!

@peachtreeoath Thank you for your very kind review, as always.

I also am not entirely sure what it's supposed to be. I wanted to make an abstract game with loads of circles, and leave it up to the player to create their own story (or none). But indeed, I was also thinking about cells, and that there is someone looking (or making photos) through a microscope from whom you try to hide.

Nice scores!

Didn't beat @peachtreeoath but here's our score! [Screenshot 2022-10-05 at 22.53.47.png](///raw/ace/44/z/526b1.png) Very nice game, I especially liked finding out that the green bumpers are just bouncy, not instant game-enders. And well-suited for highscoring - are the allocations of the items randomly generated?

papaver 2022-10-05 23:00

@Annika Thanks for playing and your comment! Nice scores as well! That's exactly why I put so many green circles in level 2, so that you can find out yourself that those are not scary. I'm glad you liked that. The timer is indeed there for all those speedrunners among you! The items are indeed randomly chosen and distributed, in such a way that there are not already two of the same item in one place. So yes, you'll need to be a bit lucky in an optimal speedrun.

That was really good, like the concept and use of theme. Sound design, art is a bit plain though I like the symbols you used. No much to complain about. Good job.

baylock 2022-10-12 05:15

Nicely Done Bro. really nice concept and use of the 10 second theme. Would love to see this game developed further and released in a larger scale. The game really give a nice overall look. Can find a bit incomplete but then again its a Jam game so, its great anyways. Overall good job great efforts. Please do check out my submission as well.

Cute little game! Congratz!

sanemsky 2022-10-12 11:44

What a nice game! Everything is well put together. I have just found the sound effects to be a bit distracting and high pitch, it's just me, but loved that you have found different sounds for different interactions. I loved the idea overall. Well done, good job guys!

papaver 2022-10-12 12:39

@sanemsky Thanks for playing and your comment! Good point about the sound, I can imagine that you don't like the high pitch sound of a kalimba. I just tried to play my own game with just my laptop sound (in stead of my usual external speakers) and I found that the sounds are quite harsh then. Did you try head phones or speakers?

elmos-minion 2022-10-13 03:14

Great game! It feels very polished, from the art to the animations and colors. I really liked the little visual cues and the player movement. Felt a bit like agar.io but instead of eating things you sort them  One improvement might be to add a bit more challenge in the form of a puzzle or something, currently the gameplay is very simple (but satisfying)

daine0 2022-10-15 22:39

Great game, art can be a little bit more detailed tho

nardandas 2022-10-16 01:08

To start, the sound was really really cool, I really loved how touching the bouncy ones created a sound in-line with the music. Was the music generative? Very cool. I wanted more interactions like that. Not that I didn't enjoy the kill-balls, but things that weren't necessarily game-ending to interact with that produced sound were really really cool! The core mechanic the game, swapping things around, was satisfying, but I think could've moved on two three and/or more a little quicker. Once I got to the three item levels engaging with the sorting became a lot more interesting! Great job though, very polished!

notan-lemon 2022-10-16 03:44

It was fun! The gameplay is nothing special, but it's simple and cute. I like it.

candlesan 2022-10-16 19:30

The sorting mechanic is neat. The motion if fluid. I didn't quite understand the 10 second photo mechanic at first but I came back to the instructions and figure dout I need to be inside one of the bubbles every time a photo is taken.

fabula-rasa 2022-10-17 00:34

I think the audio makes this game. It adds so much charm and atmosphere, and goes perfectly with the abstract, geometric art.

I think that adding a bit more difficulty (maybe jumping to three items right away after the tutorial level and going to four later) would make the gameplay more interesting. Maybe even some additional obstacles - like a circular imp de-sorter that just messes stuff up from time to time

Not once did I have a photo taken of a bit of my circular butt sticking out of the safe hiding spot

And also - I adore the title screen.

r3d3r 2022-10-17 17:04

This game is so simple and super fun! I enjoy the puzzles you've made since they're both tough and entertaining. The gameplay was enjoyable. I have nothing constructive to say about the game; it is flawless! The obstructions are a terrific method to test the players. This is an excellent game! Excellent job! It's amazing! Thank you for a great time! :D

papaver 2022-10-18 13:43

@r3d3r Thank you, you are too kind

@fabula-rasa Thank you for playing and your comment! Yes, the levels could certainly be more difficult, maybe in a post-jam version!

@candlesan Thank you for your comment. Yes, the in-game instructions are non-existent, I didn't have (/take) time for that this LD...

@nardandas Thanks! I am glad you liked the sounds. Yes the music was randomly generated. I recorded every note on my kalimba, and then I took a measure of 4 beats, and gave each beat a different probability of making a sound, with the first and last beat having the highest probability of making a sound.

hadri 2022-10-18 19:57

Wow this game was fantastic! Everything was neat and the sound and everything made it very on point. Simple but very effective

I did need to go to the home page to see what was the goal and everything tho

Loving the sound generation, great effects :)

badcop 2022-10-19 01:22

hi! I played your game on my stream, here's a link to the vod if you're interested! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1628015648?t=2h15m00s

alchemic 2022-10-19 01:46

Extremely cute game! Very well-made, I like the musical notes used as sfx.

The use of the 10 second theme seemed a little tacked on, the player is never put into a position where they are forced to be away from a circle for more than a half a second. It would be neat if some of the later levels had the green obstacle circles placed in ways designed to bump you out of the blue circles, or some other mechanic designed to pressure you against the 10 second timer. Otherwise, I think the game would have been fantastic without the 10 second mechanic at all! The rest of the game stands well on its own.

papaver 2022-10-19 02:01

@alchemic Thanks a lot for playing and your feedback! Funny, the "hide every 10 seconds for the photo" mechanic was the first idea behind the game, the sorting came later. :) But indeed, if you have the patience, you can play it very safe and take some more time to wait before each photo, and then slowly find your way to the next circle. At first I had a time limit for each level, to pressure the player to rush. But in the end I swapped it around, you just see how long you took at the end of the game. Then you can decide yourself if you want to try to speedrun it. :)

papaver 2022-10-19 02:17

@badcop Thanks for playing my game on your stream! I know its not a long or difficult game, but you really breezed through it  Indeed, I was also thinking of someone looking through a microscope every 10 seconds, but I wanted to keep it abstract. I am glad you noticed the circular playing area and the flashing before the photo. It's nice to see someone playing my game, thanks!

And thanks @nardandas for the recommendation
