I thought it was interesting that all the enemies move at the same speed and have the same direction behaviour. It meant that as long as there was a small gap you could escape them, and doing that in game felt really good, really satisfying. I also played this a lot! Replayed a bunch of times and went a really long run. It was surprised at the number of items for a 48 hour jam, that was neat. My only complaint is the graphics are a little eye-straining and too small. Aside from that, great game!

You made a great choice with the graphics. It feels as one of those older games :v:

I got super engaged. Didn't understand what all the hype about the gameplay was and then I got it. It is like pacman where you have to find gaps in the enemy line and then fend off the more numerous hoard. The graphics where very pleasant as well.

Addicting gameplay. Each play feels differently. Great entry, I'll keep it my library.
Simple but fun. I love all the pixel art for the characters. It really feels like an old arcade game. Well scoped for a jam. Good job!
Very addictive! I liked all of the enemy and item sprites! I managed to get about 500000 points, just too bad the game doesn't show you the final score after you die. But still, good job!
Had a lot of fun with this. Very satisfying push your luck gameplay on a small scale trying to find holes in the enemy waves.
Behind firing speed caltrops are definitely where its at. Once you get those upgraded a certain amount you can just sit and wait for the enemies to come to you.
I couldn't figure out how to damage the boss. Not sure if was a bug or if I was missing something but nothing I did seemed to make the health bar budge at all.
LMK if I was missing something cause I'd definitely like to try finishing it!
In terms of improvements I think the most impactful thing would be more particles, remnants of enemies or player actions, animations, or things like that.
Awesome work!

So far one of the very few submissions I played through multiple times just for pure enjoyment, VS-likes never fail to entertain and this one does it well, it gets fun very quickly and gets visual simplicity right.
I would recommend you to push for post-jam updates for QoL, adding things like a collection screen that lists every upgrade the player picked up across their games, as well as a HUD to display the player's current kit. Having the player be a different color would help with readability once you start powercreeping a lot and becoming a walking touhou boss. Maybe adding some music too? This little game deserves it all!
I had a lot of fun with this one, congrats!

Well balanced and fun but the fact you can't see your score on ending is frustrating. This game genre also strongly rely on the strategic choice on levelup. Maybe you could emulate this easily on your game by just reroll every bonus at screen on new wave. So player can wait for another option and try to choose hison build.

I had a lot of fun! Replayed a few times just for my enjoyment, as well as the satisfaction of killing so many demons! I wish the player's score was displayed in the game over screen, but that's just a nitpick. This game is great, good job! I never played VS, but your game makes me want to check it out
