Great game, it took me a while to try and beat - just to find out that you can go for multiple laps! Very creative idea, loved the anxious "switch?" at low health. I also wondered for a moment how you programmed the segways following you, but of course they simply follow your route exactly :-P

@dining-philosopher Thanks for playing and your comment! Congrats for completing the lap! What was your highscore?
Indeed, you can go for multiple laps, the hearts will reappear. But inevitably, you will run out of energy at some point. I have been thinking a lot about how the segways should follow, but with the jumping I opted indeed for an exact copy of the player's movements, directions and sprite states. That is also why there aren't any moving things. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I had fun with this. Right on theme and marks for originality as I have never been chased by dudes on Segways before. I'm probably not going going to beat the high score as I am falling frequently at this hurdle!

Fun game, took me a litle bit to figure out when to switch. I liked the panic in the voice when switching. I got just shy of 5km! Not sure if that's good, but some map knowledge did help to get me futher :) [Screenshot 2022-04-06 191107.png](///raw/578/z/4d0ac.png)
Anyway, great entry! :)

@bodcodes :green_heart: Thanks for sharing your score and hurdle! Nice score, 7412 m. is quite far! That's really almost a lap!  Also, a hint for that hurdle: !> You can either do a very late double jump or, even better, jump from the "floor"!
@thomz12 :green_heart: Thanks for playing and your comment! 5km is a very decent score! Indeed, figuring out when to switch is key. I see two reasons to switch: !> Your runner is almost running out of energy, or one of the persons on the segways is full of energy.

Very challenging! I made it to after 5000 meters. Maybe instead of switching with number keys, assign a button to switch to the next person who has the most stamina? I would also find it interesting if you could maybe "collect" more people. Also, maybe instead of losing immediately, just kill off the person who ran out of stamina and let the rest of the people continue. Just a thought. Really like the concept!

@Renge Thanks! Nice suggestions  I also thought of automatic switches, but maybe sometimes you want to switch to the other one, if you are about to collect a bunch of hearts.

@papaver True! I forgot about that, I remember that's something I tried doing with my people who had low health. Hmm, maybe then a button to switch to the lowest health and the highest health?

An interesting take on the theme! Had fun playing it on stream.
Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on my stream!

Made it 3518m! Overall a fun game! It was a bit hard switching when all the people bunched up and I couldn't tell which health bar belonged to who, especially since standing still also depletes energy and so I couldn't afford to pause and sort out the numbers. But those are really minor things! I think the concept is fun and the sound effects are a really nice touch.
I found this to be a rather clever and unique take on the theme! The constantly draining energy demands the player stays on the move, while switching at the best times. The detours offer good choices whether the hearts are worth the energy to get them. I also liked the little voices each character had, and how they sounded more strained when they had less energy.
A bit more could have been done to distinguish the three a bit more, but their numbered hats was usually enough. Great job!
This mechanic is genius. It's very fun to play and the sound is extremely funny.
I think that the abstract style could go very far, with more worlds and world elements. I would love to see different styles of vehicle in different levels for the guys who "rest and recharge" while one surges ahead.
I think that this game is a huge accomplishment - great work.
the game was really cool , it's a pity that there is no audio , anyways good work , it was really fun to play it !
I especially liked the "Switch? Switch!" sound effect, and the mechanic is quite clever. That the segway riders jump after the leader looks funny

Diferente a ideia, da pra fazer algo bem legal com isso no futuro. Só os gráficos e o áudio que estão ruins, mas isso se resolve com um musico e um artista. Programador fazendo arte é uma tristeza 🤣 (eu sou programador :P)

I ran around. Took too long to figure out to switch. Thought I was racing against the segway guys. Did figure it out eventually though.
I like the switching concept. Adds a fun mechanic to the racing / energy conservation gameplay.
The near-zero energy sound is definitely alarming, so good job there!
an interesting experience, the practical sfx were a bit unsettling, yet a bit cute, and the background visuals were far too noisy, made it pretty tiring to look at.
i liked cycling the racers to give them breaks, i think more could be done with having three racers, to add some puzzle elements to the platforming.
the level design was interesting, i think the sloped surfaces were too ambiguous though, some of them looked pretty steep, but i could still slam my way up them, while others are too steep to climb. having a consistent visual language about what is and isn't climbable would make it more playable.

@sakura-magika Thanks for your feedback, you make many valid points!
Nice! This kind of game brings out a sort of speedrun/optimization mentality, haha, which can be fun. With each new run I tried, I realized another small thing about the mechanics that I could try using to go farther. The only small issue I had was that at the beginning, I didn't realize you could double jump, since the controls shown on the walls didn't hint at it. Didn't take too long to figure out, though.

@adafheyesh Thanks for playing and for your feedback! At the point where you need your double jump te first time, there is a slight hint in the form of two up-arrows on the background at the point where you need them at the start. Nice to hear you got into the speedrun/optimization vibe. How far did you get?
@papaver Yeah, I just interpreted those as "you need to go this way" rather than hints on what buttons to press, since the icons for the controls have that square around them. Another part of my confusion was that since I didn't know what the other 2 people were for yet, I thought that maybe I was supposed to jump off of their heads to gain height, or something like that. I think I made it to just under 7k, failing when I got to a new part with a tricky jump I hadn't learned yet.
Wow! This relatively simple mechanic actually has a lot of interesting consequences to it which were super fun. My first run was a somewhat disaster, but at that point I realized how precious every decision was.
1. Jumps needed to optimized. Afaict, jumps do take extra energy? So anywhere I could get away with a single jump vs a double jump, I went for that. 2. Never leave a person topped off. That's just wasting energy that could be regenned, so you had to juggle people around. 3. Frankly, you just couldn't miss any jump. There's this really harrowing jump at the bottom left of the map that I probably missed 6 times and I was just sweating the whole time watching my bars drop to nothing.
Fortunately, those misses weren't toooooo terrible and I still managed a decent score: asdf.PNG
It was a relief to see the map loop. The reason is because I was thirsting for HP, and once I saw all the familiar gem locations, I could play fairly optimal because I already had practiced those jumps.
In general though, this concept is hilarious with the 2 segways which drew me in, but I stayed for the gameplay which imo, has some serious legs to it. Awesome job :)

@adafheyesh 7k! That's really neat, that's almost a lap 😄👍🏼 Indeed, the game lacks some in-game instructions! But you know the familiar excuse: time was very limited...

Cool idea having three characters and having to choose which one, based on the energy level. This is a hard game. Jump controls felt to me a bit "limiting", but it might be because I normally play with controller and I am not used to keyboard controls. Funny sounds ... "switch" ... :-)
