I liked the music. The idea to defeat millions of Martians was nice.
Is there anything preventing me from just holding down each of the buttons? I understand that they have some amount of ammo, but saving does me no good if I'm just gonna run out anyways and have to reload.
The song you made was by far the best part about this game. My optimal strategy just became holding down 1,2,3,4,5 all at once. I think this game could have been a little more interesting had you adding in more ammo or give me a reason to save up ammo, like empowering a certain gun randomly. But still, you made a game in one weekend and your should be very proud of that work! Cheers!
Mars has fallen! I zapped a couple thousand points worth before it finished. It was fun, although it was a little unclear how the firing rates worked, or if holding/mashing was best! #5 was the MVP for a while, but then they ran out of time D:
Great job finishing your game! I feel like this would've worked better if instead of Martians constantly spawning on all 5 astronauts, having them randomly spawn but move faster, making it more of a reflex game. The way it is now the play is the same every time. You mash every button as fast as you can until the Martians overrun you. There's not really a way to get better. Okay, that's the critique done. I liked the music! Did you write it yourself?
It wasn't clear to me how the shooting actually works. It feels unresponsive. Is there some sort of cooldown? I tried a few different things and got the best results just holding all the buttons and once and watching the fireworks. The song is really cool, and I like the Martians' dopey faces. Neat little game.
Nice game, at first i couldn't figure ot how shooting exactly works - didn't shot everytime i press button but just holding was the best option. Also i didn't find button to restart after game over it would be useful ^‿^
@daniel-foutz yeah I made the music, I can hide my sloppy guitar playing behind distortion effects!
My laptop keyboard could only hold 4 keys at the same time. So that means i kind of have to spam the keys so all of them are pressed. It doesn't seem like there's much change other than just shooting, perhaps adding some variation to the kind of guns or maybe targeting the martians in some way? For example, if the player has to hold down 5 keys in order to shoot, why not just make the guns shoot automatically? Then maybe there could be some interesting modifiers on top of that - maybe enemies move a bit and you have to adjust the guns to shoot them. Or maybe you can place walls and affect enemy or bullet movement. That would give the player some more interesting decisions to make. I did like the music too.
Nice little Compo, I like the little animations on the Martian's faces :stuck_out_tongue: The music was nice, and like the others said, I didn't feel like there was much strategies that holding the keys. Adding some kind of overheating or sharing the bullets between the guns might've helped. I also really wished you could show the score at the end. Other than that, it felt like these old retro game, which was quite nice :) Good job!
Nice game and music. My final score was around 3970. At first I was mashing my 1-5 keys, then I realized after a few minutes that I could just hold the keys down. It would be cool if there was a bonus or challenge to shoot in sync with the music like a rhythm game.
Nice, simple game. Love the music. My final score was around OVER 9000 ;) Well done.
Really like the music. Game isn't very engaging, needs a few more mechanics or some kind of variability. But overall nice work
simple, and i had loads of points when i was done. Pretty much keymashed my way to victory.
