Cool game really scary

tcoder12 2022-04-04 16:21

This is an amazing game! Thank you for making my day!

I survived four nights. I love the pixel textures on the 3D models. Awesome arts style! The game has a great atmosphere. For me it was a bit too much walking simulator and not all tasks were shown on paper.

Really nice atmosphere.

+ Good music and audio - The audio would be better if loops worked + Really nice graphics. Works really good with the music - Mouse control is super sensitive + Creepy

Nice work!

codeforjoycaro 2022-04-16 14:11

Especially liked the audio - letter reading and music and the creepy mood. I would add an option to finetune mouse sensitivity though.

tompudding 2022-04-16 14:48

The ambient soundtrack was great, and the feel of the spooky house was also impressive. I have a terrible sense of direction so this one messed me up, however the excessive walking was a bit dull.

Really creepy game, amazing job!

Liked the music, sfx and graphics as well.

Nice simple house, I love the way the rooms rearrange each day. The graphics were simple and easy to figure out what you need to do, though I think the material you use for sinks/tubs that need to be cleaned is broken, they just appear as a purple block. Sound effects were adequate, the music was ambient and creepy, but the loop was a little jarring. Overall, very well done!

Really a great Cthulh -style work ! love the pixel modeling! amazing mood!

don-fouts 2022-04-17 04:51

Great looking game, I love the esthetic. The music and sound effects were equally good. I did experience a few issues where the mouse sensitivity with the motion blur was way high. I also think some textures failed to load on the toilet and sing as before cleaning them they were both bright pink. With those set aside I think this was a fantastic entry and think you made a great game. Nice work!

Really eerie game, nice work. I had a bug on the 3rd or 4th day, it seemed like the bedroom I spawned in was overlapping the kitchen.

olsie 2022-04-17 21:04

I love the atmosphere of the game, it works really well with its graphics and music!

kirill-islibaev 2022-04-18 04:59

Great creepy! GJ. I like the atmosphere.

lilkrit 2022-04-18 11:24

You should write horror stuff. I have a question though. Is there an actual ending? Is there a way to slow down the insanity?

roka-josh 2022-04-18 11:59

@lilkrit Currently no as we thought it fit the theme of delaying the inevitable better if insanity was acutally inevitable, but we are continuing work to make a full version with a plannned secret way to win!

harksa 2022-04-18 12:21

So, I played the "fixed" version. As you said yourself: it's fair to update the game with bugfix and stuff like that. This is a good game. I haven't anticipated that it was an "horror" game and the first monster gave me a spook lol. I really liked the game, but the framerate is not really good at all and my GPU ran at 100%!

Here are some tips for the next game you create: * Bake your lights. I think I counted 20 or so lights in the main room and six in each corridor and it seems to add up to a lot! There's no real need for dynamic light here, therefore baking it will help the performance a lot by calculating how the light will render once and for all. * The room with barrels and mops was very laggy for some reasons. I'd recommend setting everything that will not move, ever, as static. It will also help with the light baking (if I remember correctly)! * I think you could ad some occlusion culling here, even though it feels unecessary since it's a little map, so the GPU doesn't calculate stuff the player doesn't see.

Appart from the performance issue, I really enjoyed the game! Keep up the good work  !

roka-josh 2022-04-18 12:55

@harksa Thanks for the detailed feedback, we weren't sure of the hit to performance the game took after upgrading to the HDRP so thank you for raising it as an issue. The lighting was originally all done as dynamic as the baked lighting we tried first interacted weirdly with the doors and other objects, but I'm sure we can create a partially baked system that will improve performance. It will be top priority for the full game so thank you!

harksa 2022-04-18 13:27

@roka-josh What you could do is actually put two lights in the exam same spot. One that is baked and another one that is dynamic. The baked one will provide no issue with the performance since it's already calculated and the dynamic one will provide dynamic lighting for objects with the same layer or tag.

Don't count my words on that though, it's been a while since I haven't touched Unity's light more than that and maybe a mixed light will be better.

baconinvader 2022-04-19 18:19

Nice premise that's decently well executed, I liked the art and music, and moving things around and messing with textures does help to make you feel like you're going insane (I spent a full minute at one point wondering why I couldn't tick off the "clean the kitchen sink" objective when I was in the bathroom so maybe I went a bit insane IRL).

I think the game's appeal does wane a bit as it goes on though, eventually you reduce it to just checking every room in the most optimal path possible and the weirdness loses it's effect. Maybe a post-jam version with more events that could happen would be cool?

roka-josh 2022-04-19 18:22

@baconinvader Thanks for playing, we plan on adding a lot more rooms and an overall mystery you can work out to 'win', but obviously that was too much for the scope of the jam!

marvis 2022-04-21 08:16

I like the dark theme of the game
