What an incredibly good game! It has simple but compelling gameplay. It was immediately clear how to play even without the simple but effective instructions. The graphics were perfect for the style of game, and the audio track fit the mood very well. This could be a perfect candidate for turning into a mobile game. I played until I got all the upgrades, best combo was 35. Great work!

This was such a hoot. The premise and presentation are hilarious, and the gameplay is super engaging to boot!

The fact that you added an upgrade system too is really impressive. I honestly had a blast just trying to master the base game. I appreciate that the hitboxes for the buttons are pretty generous, because things get very frantic during the later stages of the game!

Also, I'm mildly disappointed by the fact that the results screen keeps showing up too fast and I can't admire my graceful dive :frowning2:

Upgrade system, yeay! The art style way very pleasing. The gameplay loop was simple but smooth. Got up to 45 before I got all the upgrades and stopped. The music was a nice touch too. Good job!

I like how you stick to a simple concept and then try to get the 100% fun factor out of it. The animations are hilarious. :D Too bad there wasn't time left to implement a leader board. Very addictive, good job!

Simple idea well executed. The clunk sound when you place a section was satisfying and I enjoyed the character animation. The jetpack bar doesn't refill when you restart until you use it.

This is a fantastic game, even though I found it quite difficult.

Really stylish game, with an enjoyable gameplay mechanic and catchy music. I survived for quite a bit the first round, and just as I thought I had seen what the game was all about an upgrade system showed up. That was just what this game needed to go from good to great. I really like it!

I couldn't start the game on MAC. Is there some trick to starting it?

sourdoge 2022-04-16 19:12

An excellent game! I had a lot of fun with it and the initial trip animation was hilarious.

beefbone 2022-04-16 19:21

@stefan0198 The MAC version seems to be a little hit and miss so I'm sorry if you can't get it to work. Haven't yet found a workaround when it doesn't work sadly

Fun game, the central mechanic is fun and the upgrades are smart. I could see it running well on mobile.

Fun game, and the progression options give it a lot of longevity for a jam game. One thing I might suggest is allowing players to place the planks with the keyboard (eg. number the planks, or label them with keys that you can press to place them).

The animations used make a big difference - from the initial gameplay to your character swimming off after falling in. Small touches, but I appreciated them! The blue font on some screens wasn't the easiest to read against certain backdrops. It ramped up in difficulty pretty quick, but that was well balanced with an unlock system! I think maybe I'd have liked the planks to be more central, as my eyes were focused on end of the pier (right side), or bottom left (where new pieces spawn), so it felt a bit challenging to jump my focus around rapidly. I had a good time with this, and love you you took a simple idea (tripping over) and turned it into a solid gamejam game :D
