A bit difficult to navigate. Some indication of which option is currently selected would probably go a long way. Good idea, though. Thanks very much!

Aww, this is incredibly cute. I played for about 15 minutes and fully decorated my critter's pad. He seems very happy. And the game is surprisingly fully featured, having everything I would expect from a Tamagotchi-esque idea. I agree with Myles that having the currently selected slot be darkened would help with navigation. For the first 5 minutes I thought the slot to select things was the bottom, hahaha. Regardless, it nails the aesthetic and if I wasn't paying attention, I could easily lose track of time with this game. Very, very nice.

A very pretty game, and well executed! I haven't gotten far yet, in large part due to the fullscreen requirement. If I could have it on the side and running (with Run in Background enabled in Unity), or have it in a browser tab, I'd be much more likely to keep it going while I do other stuff.

Initially I had a bit of trouble understanding what my buttons did. (I was pressing Q, A, & Z) Things were moving on the screen so I thought I had it right. After I figured out I was pressing the same action I got a handle for the menus and playing the minigames. The tamagochi vibes are perfect, I think the citter runs out of energy too quick for how much money you can make playing the minigames (mostly keep up specifically doesn't earn much before it becomes too fast to keep up). The minigames were a bit too simple. The pong minigame had an issue where if it hit the side of the paddle it could start bouncing really slowly between the walls to the other side making each point take up to 30 seconds or more. Keep it up also had a weird lock after you hit the ball before you can move again. but after 4 or 5 hits the balls speed becomes really high and impossible to catch.

Really solid output for the Ludum Dare! Keep it up and I look forward to seeing more from you in the future!

It's quite hard to play but I really love the idea and the art looks amazing. Great Job!

Sorry is it okay if you explain the controls? I can't seem to wrap my head around them.

beasrabbit 2021-10-04 19:32

@escapade 3 buttons, each button opens a different menu (buy stuff, options, games) one is down/left, 2 is up/right, 3 is confirm/action. Keys are done in rows of 3 for people to have options but screen buttons work too

Hi, cool concept! The controls arent very intuitive, it took me a while to learn what i was doing, but its a cute game and is fun to play. I would suggest that the menu option that you select is the one above the button, rather than the option behind the button. Great work!

Really cute but I don't know what to press >.>

Cool idea, although I had to fiddle with the controls for a long time :)

Hmm, the paddle and the keep-em-up games both seemed a bit buggy. Keep-em-up seemed to warp the ball to random positions whenever I pressed 3 and then had a very long delay afterwards. For the paddle game, the ball only ever bounced on the right side, and never reached the paddle due to some sort of acceleration to the right direction??

It seems it could be more fun if not for the strange input system: I keep pressing the wrong buttons over and over. I get that is a simulation of a physical game buttons like the Tamagotchi, but it still feels like it has a poor usability. Cool concept and great potential though!
