Love the old tv! The music is also really good

hotowlgirls 2021-10-04 23:47

It's fun to keep the balance of no more than 2 objects per box and the tv menu is nice as well as the background. If I had to offer any criticism, tilting feels a little weak compared to the movement. Overall nice game though.

Love the theme, also pixel art is pretty neat!

nephronhunter 2021-10-05 03:25

I love the design from start to finish, the audio is great. I really love the game play and every part of the game is visually interesting.

geryon-games 2021-10-06 15:48

Great execution on the theme and I love the aesthetic. Great job!

frankiewhispers 2021-10-06 15:53

Awesome job. Fun to play and funny. And I hate you for the change channel button! :)

What?! This game is amazing! I love everything about it, the movement system kept me constantly on my toes especially the aesthetics of the art and music were so good. I was terrified in the best way. The song was an absolute BANGER and didn't get old even after playing for a long time! UI touches were also so clean and nice. Fantastic job.

Great music, great mood playing the game through a TV screen, and overall a solid entry. Felt polished and the movement felt good.

This is really great! The concept and execution are awesome! The time slow down and control inversion are great too. I love all the small details and laughed hard when I got rick rolled :P

I think it would be even better if you turned the things that make you instantly lose into heavily increased difficulty. In particular, the more items you collect on a box the more you naturally tilt toward it so that keeping yourself balanced if you don't distribute them equally becomes so hard that you fall down. As for the bomb, if you catch it it should explode and tilt you heavily in the opposite direction and maybe even partly or completely empty out the box you collected it in.

Overall this was great fun, amazing job!

panagiotis-iatrou 2021-10-10 12:58

@jackaljk Thanks for the feedback! The idea for tilting towards the heaviest box would be a nice add.

beats 2021-10-12 01:58

The mechanics are pretty easy to control, gameplay is enjoyable and nice touch with the powerups, number of items you're allowed on one side should have been explained because the player randomly dies and the tilting could be a bit more challenging but still solid entry all round.

goddoesplaydice 2021-10-12 09:09

The visuals are at a very high level! You've got a very unusual, but simple and addictive character control in the game. I thought it would be interesting to try the same game, but in runner mode, so that the clown could go further and further.

@beats Thanks for the feedback! I updated the description.

Great game! The art is some of the best I have seen this jam. The music is also good. The idea of the tv-controls is creative. Gameplay is really fun, but I did feel like sometimes I would lose out of nowhere. Overall really good game in all categories. Great job!

It's clear you're no strangers to game design. You know the rules of game dev, and so do I! Therefore I'm able to fully commit to giving this a positive review, the kind you wouldn't get from any other guy. I just wanna tell you how I feel about this game, I've got to make you understand I had a great time with it.

I loved the aesthetic, and the fact that different objects affected your player in unique ways, but it would be cool to have some sort of notification when you get those, so you can kinda understand what's happening. Well done!

electric-bonfire 2021-10-17 09:44

Great polished game! You managed the scope very well, with a nice twist on the genre, not just with the balancing act but also the slow down and different weights. Loved the TV context for it too. Such a perfect "jam" game, but also a solid game in itself! I'll keep this game in mind for the next jam as a good example of scoping and mechanics.

joeshanahan 2021-10-17 15:31

I love the old TV thing you've got going on, really well implemented! The game is really polished too, I have to say the blinking though - it freaks me out

I also love the sense of humor, not only does the clown fall off the rope but ALSO gets eaten by a shark! That level of detail isn't super common in GameJam games, but really adds a lot of charm.

Every single time I died was due to bombs, I just wasn't able to determine in time which items I should pick up and which I should avoid. Not sure if that's a me-problem or if it could be made a bit more clear. I had to constantly swap my eyes between the numbers on the boxes and the top of the screen, so it was too much for me to also mentally parse what the item was while it was falling.

panagiotis-iatrou 2021-10-17 18:06

@joeshanahan Thanks for this great review! Its true that we should have made it more clear that the only item you shouldn't take is the bomb and that the weight different in the boxes should not exceed 2. Don't forget to check out the "change channel" button for dlc content :)

joeshanahan 2021-10-17 18:44

Oh I tried change channel, but it was only black. Not sure if something went wrong?

panagiotis-iatrou 2021-10-17 19:48

@joeshanahan Oh that happens because of a bug with specific browsers. Chrome is guaranteed to work though!

joeshanahan 2021-10-17 22:56

Ah, the browser I was using was the itch.io launcher, so I guess not supported there. I checked it out on chrome, can confirm it works

I edited and uploaded my playthrough to YouTube if you wanted to check it out
