Neat idea! I like how any floor is dangerous to the egg but bombs are fine. Would probably be good to ease up the difficulty in the beginning, at least have safe places during the tutorial because I did not stop to process any of it once I got the main mechanic. I think I was near the end of the second stage when I gave up. It is fun but it would be good to have a more balanced difficulty curve.

I love this concept. I think it resonates with my history as someone who always loved trick maps in games like Quake, it's like 2D grenade jumping.
The core gameplay feels really solid and enjoyable, and there is definitely that "one more try" feeling as well. I haven't quite beaten level 3 (I think?) yet, when the green bits start, but I do still feel that I want to complete it, which is saying a lot for a jam game.
The concept behind the green stuff that prevents the bombs from going off is good, and I think there's a lot of room for different terrain interactions like that. It does cause some frustration though, when you're having a good run and one misthrow leaves you hopping around to your death because your bomb is stuck. Perhaps making it so the bomb automatically detonates after a certain amount of time, or after the player hits the ground once? Of course that would also impact some of the more puzzle-like elements of the level design, or possibly more I haven't even reached yet.
Overall, a great core gameplay design with a pleasant presentation. This is one I could definitely see being expanded beyond the jam. Also I love the little falling animation.
@kovi Thank you for pointing out the issue, I fixed it already ^_^

This is really cool, and I enjoyed it! It's very creative, fun, and challenging!
Brilliant idea! Really clever and fun. I think the movement felt a little awkward at times because of the fact there could only be one bomb at a time. So if I missed a ledge, I was almost guaranteed to take damage because the bomb took some time to hit some terrain somewhere else. I would maybe consider allowing the player to spam bombs and see how that works out.
But like I said it's a really clever idea and super fun overall!
haha nice wordplay

I really enjoy the idea you have created! Im not a big 2d platformer guy but i really enjoyed the challenge of placing bombs right to keep moving.
I quite like the style of eggsplosion too, its simple but effective.

Fun game!
The mechanic of bombing yourself to "jump" is pretty neat and I liked it quite a lot. In my opinion the falling speed of the character was sometimes a bit too fast and made some parts in the game a bit difficult.
Nice game, great work!
the mechanics with the bomb is a mind explosion, very fun !!
Very challenging but a lot of fun to play, the cute art helps too

pretty nice game, love the movement mechanics, a bit hard to get the hang of it but definitely fun to play with

Прыжки - нелегкая штука, особенно когда ты в каске. А уж прыжки с бомбами - это еще сложнее! Интересная идея, мне понравилось ^_^
I usually do not play platformers so take my feedback with that in mind. Player movement felt quite slippery, out of control on the ground. This gives the feeling it should be super fast speed running throughout the level but level design counters that as the fall leads to narrow passage where either you go real slow or be quite skilled at playing. The dangerous ground was no different than walls above which do not damage so it will be better if dangerous ground is visualized little differently. As such cutesy character I expect it to be more cutesy slow and bouncy movement which also gives chance to jump in any direction. Well that was my opinion. It was fun when I rushed through level after tons of retry but yeah I prefer more slow paced games.
I would love this concept go into it's full extent! This could be easily be seen as a speed game and a visually fun one at that when all the skills you learn are in play.
* Sadly the design of the stages are not very forgiving. It might also be seen as a rage game at this state if it weren't for the fun mechanic. * The stage design also doesn't really go well with the mechanic as well since you're suddenly thrown very tight bomb hopping and ends up pretty unforgiving. * It might look easy to you when you play-test, but that what would be top-notch play at this point. * The 3-life system is also very unforgiving due to the tight horizontal corridors. I was actively looking for extra health, really. * Slowly regen health rewarded for surviving for longer, perhaps? * If anything just making the narrow horizontal corridors wider will prevent a lot of frustrations. * Stage 2's trap hole is not nice. That's really rough for you to do after doing that long chain of corridor jumps. * Actually, give me instant kill floors. I don't want to do the damage drain of shame. * Checkpoints, please. * The idea of being not able to explode on a misfire is actually pretty punishing since suddenly you have to panic to place yourself near the bomb far away where you intend to go. * An automatic bomb explode could help with this if they take too long. * Instead of just a green thing that doesn't allow explosions, why not make it an area where they can't instead, that way it's much more forgiving to earlier players. * I wish purples won't hurt you either tbh. Much more forgiving to set up jumps that way. * With how the player controls, I think you need a bit bigger radius. People can't just immediately press left-click then right-click really quickly. * An extra jump would definitely prevent people from suddenly getting frustrated from suddenly not making a jump from placing a bomb a few frames too late. * Honestly doing all of this reminds me too much of those Minecraft guys trying to save themselves from fall damage by using a bucket of water when they almost hit near the ground. * I do want to get a bit more visual feedback when you get hit, though.
I'm a stubborn guy and I do find it really fun, but despite this, these gripes I have does echo for those who want to play test your game. I bet most will not continue to the third stage.
I actually stopped at the fourth because there's two areas that require you very split second reaction despite throwing the bomb early.
I do want to see this game pushed further than the jam and I think that would be really fun to see!

Really cool idea! I love that you can climb walls by spawning bombs right against the wall, it almost feels like a bug that you turned into a feature, which is always a cool thing to do. It took a minute to understand what the mechanics were, but was still playable without a tutorial which is good. The art is clean and well done and overall the game is fun, but quite challenging to get used to the movement mechanics. Well done!
This was so much fun! Reminded me of super meat boy! Cool mechanics as well! Great game! Well done on music as well! could be smart to change the bomb throw as well as explosion left click, you can only have one bomb out anyways so 1 button should be fine! But thats just me! Either way great job!

Funny game, a bit hard from the biginning... but after a while you get used to it. Nice the graphic and the souds. I would have liked more "safe spot" where to land. I haven't been able to pass through a deep hole on the second level. Maybe you can add more bombs (as upgrades). Well done!
Btw, i missed a key to "quit" the game at the end :-)
I like the concept. It was not a game I can be good at but the rules set in play make for a different kind of game. Nice work. Too hard for me but maybe this will be fun for others. Great art and music!
@fiakaiera Thank you so much for this long critique! I think I do have to agree that the game may be too hard for new players. I can beat every level on the first try, it's kinda hard to see if something is too hard or too easy when you did the most testing. And thank you for all of these suggestions, I'll definitely add most of them to the game. Would you like to get info when I update the game?

Very interesting mechanic though I did'nt manage to get far with it (there was a very tall wall and a image I did'nt understand). Mabye next time try maiking the game easier at the start so there is a place where the player can learn all of the needed skills to advance.
@gargantus Oh definitely! I would love to get updates on it~

Your interpretation of the theme is very creative. I like the visuals and the animations. The sound is quite pleasant too. As for gameplay, I think your idea is quite different and challenging, but I believe that some adjustments are necessary. I always like to see different and unique gameplay proposals like yours, so I don't see a problem when people try different things. But I don't know if I was able to fully enjoy the experience of your game, since I was a bad player, and I couldn't get out of the tutorial part, being honest with you. Anyway, if you allow me to suggest, maybe your game could have a scalable difficulty, not punishing the player so much in the beginning. But it is a bold game proposal anyway, and I would like to see that idea grow in the future. Congratulations for the game!
@fiakaiera Hey, the updated version is ready on the itch.io page
This was surprisingly fun, there was quite a lot of things that interacted well with the core mechanic. There was only one place where I got stuck for a long time and that was after the first checkpoint, it was more intuitive to go down to the place where you couldn't proceed. However, each new concept was neatly introduced and the levels ascended in difficulty steadily without awfully sharp spikes. Great job, when expanded further this could make a potentially good Celeste-like platformer!
@hugimugi7 Thanks for the review, glad to see that the update has fixed most issues ^_^

I suck at this game :'D But it was fun nonetheless and very creative idea. I like the music too, it brings the right mood to it. It was hard but life would be boring if every game was too easy. Thank you for this!

:D really fun game and fun style. Gameplay was litlle too challenging. maybe make it little easier.
Played through the entirety of the game and I can say it was a pretty satisfying experience. The last level difficulty seems too steep when compared to its predecessor, but apart from that this is pretty well polished.
