minesweeper :O love it <3 it reminded me of my childhood
I am a big fan of Minesweepr and this is a fun take at it. Fits well to the theme. I think I would have liked square fields better, but I might be biased there. In my opinion hexagonal minesweeper just makes it harder to see where you can flag.
I love this! The art is really cute. And I love the soft(?) colors. I like that it's a hexagonal minesweeper, makes it a bit different from the original. It does get a little repetitive though. And the whole game stopped working completely when I tried to use one of the cards I bought, it just went up and then clicking on anything did nothing. The sound effects are really nice, especially the one when you're revealing a large area because it's empty, that one's satisfying, but the sound of a flag being placed is kind of bad. It sounds like it's cut off. But it's a really sweet game, and I loved it. I totally see lots of potential in this. Great job!
very well made game with satisfying progression and a cool twist on minesweeper using air/depth/treasure mechanics that make a nice tension between going deeper to find stuff and avoiding mines. the game bugged when i tried to use the depth charge
A fun and interesting new take on the minesweeper idea. Well done.
Very cool take on minesweeper! I'm a longtime minesweeper fan so this gets a good rating from me.
- Liked the sound design, especially the SFX for clearing a bunch of tiles. Considering the repetitive gameplay could have used some music, especially something to fill the silence of the opening cutscene
- It feels like the difficulty is a bit high at first. I get that you need to rack up money to make it easier in the long run but I think that the upgrades are priced a bit high for the length of a game jam game
- I appreciate the addition of the metagame features to the classic minesweeper gameplay loop.
Great work!
Actually a really cool take on minesweeper. The first upgrades are maybe a bit expensive, but thats fine. Im surprised it has so few ratings, because this was solid.
Loved it! A great take on minesweeper. Took me a few attempts to really get past the minesweeper mentality of needing to clear everything. I did notice a weird bug, where if you have more than one of the card upgrades, once you use the first one, the card animates weirdly across the screen and basically forces you to use it again in order to see what you're doing. I feel like it could also use a measurement of how deep you've gotten. Awesome game!
Really solid entry, spent a long time playing this one! I like the minesweeper vibes but with abilities. Super cool!
Wouah a minesweeper !
Sweet idea there^^ Really cool take there, and I loved the art style. The global flow of the game is really smooth, and thus solid overall, you even had the time to add upgrades/progression in 48h so Bravo to you ! Really solid entry you have there
Thanks for the feedback everyone! The issues playing cards should be resolved now.
I have run into some issues with Safari on ios. Chrome and Edge seem to be stable, haven't tested on Firefox. If you run into more issues with other browsers, any console output would be appreciated.
Big fan of Minesweeper and this was a fun take on it! The powerups were a cool addition. Good entry!
Nice! The hexagonal minesweeper mechanics were intuitive yet foreign enough to provide a nice learning curve throughout. The powerups were fun to use as well. The "card" system of selecting them was a bit of an odd choice, though. It didn't seem diagetic, and it honestly made it feel a bit clunky to select the abilities, as you had to deal with the animation of "holding up the cards". This also made it difficult to keep track of how many uses of each ability you had remaining. I honestly wonder if a plain system of icons and numbers would have worked better? Just my 2cents, please take with a grain of salt.
I would request that y'all please look at the sound effects and tone them down a bit, though. The one for the "line clear" bomb is very piercing in the higher-end frequencies, and some of the other ones are particularly harsh-sounding (sounds like they may have some audio clipping). I understand that these sfx may have been made using some sort of sfxr or bfxr or labchirp-like tool but all the same, please try not to kill our ears, particularly those of us with high fidelity sound systems ;P
I absolutely loved this game! So addictive and the shop gave a classic minesweeper a real nice replayability! The timed factor with the oxygen meant that it wasn't just a case of being good at minesweeper but having to use the items well to get deeper with more treasure. I did have to get out of the habit of trying to clear everything and just make progress. Really nice take on the theme too!
Art style was super cute and fit the theme of the game nicely. The shop UI was nice with lighting up when things became available to buy etc. I would agree with the previous comment on it being a little difficult to keep track of your items so number icons would have been nice!
I also liked the sound effects making the game nicely rounded out and polished.
Overall, one of the best games I've played all jam! Sad I'm having to stop since I need to rate more other games! Amazing job and well done!
Edit: I've also just scrolled up and seen this is a compo entry?! Whatttt?! The level of polish here is amazing and there's still a decent amount of content! Super impressed.
This game actually already feel like a complete game, finish it! really nice job!
Apologies, I played this after ratings closed on recommendation of @teto, but wanted to say great game! Nice gameplay loop of adding time constraints and a metagame to minesweeper! I enjoyed it and played all the way to the crown - great fun!
