The music is strangely catchy! It's pretty exciting how fast you can get going if you're not scared! I appreciated the little story illustration cards, too. The handwritten text is kind of hard to read, though. You should probably just type it next time unless you're going to be very careful about handwriting it neatly.
I appreciate that it has an ending, too. Simple but sweet story.
Despite its simplicity it makes for a nice short game. The music is really good! Also, the visual hints about upcoming threats is very clever.
Thanks to both of you! I am very glad you appreciate the musics. It is one of the things I liked very much in this game jam and in my previous participations: composing. I do it when everything else is about to be finished: when the pressure of time is less intense because I know I will be ready before the deadline, and when the mood of what I have already drawn is already pretty clear. It lets me pick music that I hope fits with the parts of the game I want to illustrate.
About the handwritten part, I understand you @mduo13 , and I have to say I hesitated a lot before deciding to do everything by hand: I thought it fitted the story better. It lets the fragility of the character be shown, writing in caps when he feels lost and in lowercase when he recovers. But I have to agree, I should have been more careful an be sure to be readable. That is one of the things I have to improve on with my drawing tablet. I was also unsure to be authorized to use more original fonts when participating for the compo.
Thanks for the kind words about the story, the message of the game means a lot to me.
haha! The game is simple but it is fun! Thanks!!

This was REALLY good and really resonated with me (and probably a lot of the people participating in this jam)
I want to say one thing - if you don't help your guy at all you will do a lot better. Let gravity do all the work! I didn't have to draw a single line and I made it to the end. Once I stopped helping, much easier :)
The dream sequence and the ending sequence were really personal and I can really appreciate that you put yourself out there like this. Great work my friend.

Thanks @morphine for your feedback! To tell the truth, I anticipated this "let the gravity do the work" issue at the beginning of the project. So I decided that for the building and testing time I would go with randomized "enemies" placement, and I planned to give them a fixed starting position later on, in order to prevent the player from not building any platform and yet winning anyway. But I had no time to do that, it seemed to complicated with the little time I had. So I fixed the random seed to a value with which, on my computer, not touching anything couldn't work.
Maybe there are different implementations of the random number generator, and that for the Windows export the initial positions of the "enemies" are totally different. (I built the game using Linux) That is a problem I don't really know how to solve... Let's say this is a hidden feature! :)
Thanks again, it is a pleasure to share this creation with other people, and having them sharing their reaction to it!

@loonydrope I was playing on Windows, and the character did get hit a couple times but without touching anything I was able to beat the entire game. Thanks again, I really liked the art in this one and the messages.
This was a very interesting concept, and I think you executed fairly well given the timeframe. I'd really like to see a second pass at this with time spent on the "feel" of the movement, animations, and baddies. I don't think I've ever seen that core mechanic before, it's very unique!
For what it's worth, I didn't have any trouble reading your handwriting.
I did find a bug though. In the final segment of parachuting where the snowflakes appeared, I thought I needed to dodge them so I tried drawing a line. This broke something and prevented the cutscene from appearing, so I had to restart the game.
I liked the music, especially that end tune.
@pizzasgood tanks for your feedback. I will investigate on that bug you found, it may be simple enough to solve. Tanks again!
The fix is done. It was just a single line of code to add, but a quite long time to re-upload everything on icth.io and gotm.io with my little connection. Thanks again for letting me know about this bug!

That was an interesting one. I couldn't manage to survive till the end but I'm very bad at games like this. Nice entry!
Thanks @mudlee for the feedback. Sad yout didn't make it too the end, you missed the conclusion of the story.
Maybe try to build platforms to block the character against the wall when you are above an enemy and then clik anywhere else to delete the platform when he has gone farther away.
But I dont juge you, I am actually pretty bad at lots of games! :)
Well done throwing me for a loop with the theme like that :D Seemed a bit hard to control at first but after a few tries I taught myself enough small techniques to deal with most obstacles. Very nicely implemented story segments, although some of the text is a bit tricky to read ^^
Managed to find a bug where a portion of the level didn't appear and I managed to lead the character outside the walls before the next area appeared, resulting in endless falling at really high speeds :D
I liked this, and there are indeed good things to live for ^_^
Thank you very much for your feedback @gaminghamster !
I encountered the disappearing portion of the level bug while developing the game, with what you describe, going outside the walls etc, and I implemented what I thought was a good fix, because it didn't happen to me again. But it seems from what you say that my fix was not enough. I will try to find another way to ensure this doesn't happen. But I will let the game as it is for the rating time, it seems more fair with the compo rules.
There are indeed good things to live for, and I really feel since a few day that being here and have people working on their own projects to share them with other people is one of them.
Thanks again !
Simple and fun, I liked the fact that you can anticipate the enemies and the funny voice clips. Also, very original way of telling a story.
Cool game!
I started by trying to avoid the shaded areas before realizing they were not harmful. Found myself playing over and over again so that has to be a good sign!

Solid! This was fun! It's actually easier to win if you don't stop the fall at all. Maybe you can implement a punishment for falling faster than a certain speed?
Fun game ! I really liked the gameplay, very original and well made !
Good job
Very creative. I like the out-of-the-box thinking

Pretty original gameplay and very good music. Reading other comments about not doing anything helped me get to the ending, well done.

Loved the game mechanic and the hints from enemies approaching, music and audio was also good, suited the game really well! A fun game for sure. I did manage to get stuck outside the walls a couple of times too (on Mac in case that is relevant). Really enjoyed my multiple plays!
